Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 109: Acknowledging One’s Roots and Returning to the Family
CHAPTER 109: CHAPTER 109: ACKNOWLEDGING ONE’S ROOTS AND RETURNING TO THE FAMILY
Desmond Fairchild saw her like this and didn’t dwell too much on it, suddenly remembered his intentions, and said, "I checked the calendar, and our son’s birthday is coming up soon. I wanted to discuss with you about hosting a birthday party for him."
No matter how Jude Sinclair celebrated his birthday before, this year, with Desmond’s presence, Jude would not be treated unfairly.
Moreover, Desmond plans to use this opportunity to publicly reveal Jude’s identity.
The heir to the Cloudsea Group, his only son.
Upon hearing Desmond mention the birthday party, Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t help but frown and respond, "It’s just a child’s birthday, isn’t it necessary to make it so grand? Just take him to the amusement park for a day, that’s enough. Jude hasn’t really cared about birthdays in previous years."
For the past few years, Seraphina would similarly set aside a day to accompany Jude to the amusement park, which would make him very happy.
"Seraphina, I know this is how you celebrate with him, but this year is different after all. Jude is my son, Desmond Fairchild’s son. I can’t let it be ordinary anymore."
"Ordinary? Desmond, I don’t quite understand what you mean. How is Jude ordinary?" Desmond’s inappropriate choice of words made Seraphina a bit displeased.
"Seraphina, that’s not what I meant. I just want to acknowledge his lineage, to prove his identity as your child." Desmond realized his mistake in language and promptly explained.
Unfortunately, Seraphina was not moved.
"Desmond, have you considered Jude’s thoughts in all this? He’s so young, do you really want to thrust him into the spotlight of public opinion?"
The relationship between Seraphina and Desmond has already been quite controversial.
Seraphina is naturally worried that this will affect Jude’s life, and now Desmond proactively wants to expose Jude’s identity, which makes her understandably upset as a mother.
Despite Jude’s youth and maturity, exposing him as Desmond’s son would inevitably bring more pressure, and the scrutiny from the public would make his growing up more challenging. She didn’t want Jude to bear so much too early.
Looking at Seraphina’s stern and determined gaze, Desmond indeed felt conflicted.
But for long-term considerations, he had to do it.
"Seraphina, our argument here is meaningless. We might as well ask Jude whether he wants to acknowledge being a part of the Fairchild Family. These are responsibilities he must bear as a member of this family."
Desmond shifted the decision-making power to Jude, which meant that even if Seraphina disagreed, she wouldn’t have a say.
Of course, he boldly let Jude choose, already knowing that Jude would likely agree with his thoughts.
Although father and son had just recognized each other and were not yet very familiar, Desmond could sense that Jude was a child with very mature thoughts and psychology.
Desmond believed Jude would understand his father’s actions.
"Alright, let’s go ask Jude now and let him decide for himself."
Seraphina didn’t refuse Desmond’s suggested approach.
Jude had the right to make his own choices, and moreover, despite being Jude’s mother, he was an independent individual.
She didn’t have the right to interfere in Jude’s life.
"I agree with Dad. Since I am a child of the Fairchild Family, I should bear the responsibilities of being the heir. As for the pressures, they mean nothing to me."
Upon hearing Jude’s words, Seraphina felt somewhat regretful.
But how did Jude’s attitude change so greatly after just recognizing his father? He shouldn’t have valued those things.
Seraphina suddenly felt like she had raised an ungrateful child.
"But Dad, if you want me to acknowledge our lineage, you must promise me one thing first."
Jude spoke up again, saying these words.
Seeing his sly expression, Desmond knew the little one’s mind must have other thoughts.
Desmond half-knelt in front of Jude, looking at him with a loving face, "As long as Dad can do it, I’ll fulfill your wish."
"My wish is simple. You must not only acknowledge my identity but also recognize Mom’s identity."
Jude grew up with strong feelings for his mother, Seraphina, naturally. If Desmond couldn’t acknowledge Seraphina’s identity, Jude definitely wouldn’t agree.
Upon hearing Jude’s words, Desmond hadn’t responded yet when Seraphina jumped in disagreeing first.
She pulled Jude over, looking at him solemnly, "Jude, who told you to make decisions for Mom? Did you ask for my opinion?"
Since learning Desmond’s real identity, Seraphina regretted her previous choices even more, and had started to somewhat evade him.
Before Seraphina thought she could pay money to give Jude a father, but now, clearly everything was beyond her control, and it made her feel uneasily apprehensive.
She was born into a wealthy family and knew all about the grudges and enmities within such circles. Struggling out of that environment, she really did not want to be pulled back into endless disputes.
What’s more, the Fairchild Family was far from simple. Just dealing with Morgan Fairchild had taught her plenty.
Jude had already anticipated Seraphina’s reaction. His emotions were unshaken as he seriously said, "Mom, that’s wrong. I’ve finally found my dad and have a complete family. How can you bear to destroy this happiness?"
His words were sharp and left Seraphina speechless.
Seeing Jude’s slightly aggrieved face, at that moment, Seraphina deeply felt the power of kinship.
"Seraphina, the child is right. Think it over. I won’t force you what to do, but likewise, I hope you can truly become my wife, otherwise what happened with Ethan Lloyd might happen again."
Desmond took the opportunity to express his thoughts.
This matter had long been part of Desmond’s plans, and the reason he hadn’t mentioned it before was not because he was not in a rush, but because he wanted Seraphina to willingly marry him.
Regarding these unexpected happenings in his life, Desmond had undergone a long mental struggle from rejection to acceptance. But now, Desmond could confidently say that he was grateful for these surprises God had granted him.
Yet clearly, to this day, Seraphina still felt troubled by these unexpected events.
Seraphina pressed her lips together but ultimately shook her head in refusal, "I’m not ready for this."
Even though Jude and Desmond had both extended invitations, Seraphina still felt it was inappropriate.
Aside from the many things she didn’t understand about Desmond and himself, the Fairchild Family itself was difficult for her to accept.
Even though Old Mrs. Fairchild was nice, but having been married before herself would bring countless controversies, and thinking of Desmond’s critical aunt filled her with rejection.
What’s more, there was Eric Holt, whom Ace had unintentionally mentioned last time about Desmond’s brother, despite the difference in surname she’d never met this person before.
Clearly, the Fairchild Family was not as straightforward as it appeared.
