Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 134: Irene Rowe’s Attitude
CHAPTER 134: CHAPTER 134: IRENE ROWE’S ATTITUDE
"You’re not talking about Irene Rowe, are you?!" Seraphina Sinclair suddenly stood up, exclaiming in disbelief.
Austin White heard her mention Irene Rowe’s name and awkwardly averted his gaze, but the tips of his ears quietly turned red.
"It really is her, when did you two get together?" Seraphina Sinclair, naturally, didn’t miss his reaction, staring at him in shock.
Seraphina couldn’t help but recall when she jokingly talked about them before, and how bashful and red-faced Austin was. Thinking about it now, it seemed there were signs leading up to their current situation.
"No, Irene hasn’t agreed to be with me yet. But, sooner or later, I’ll win her over." Austin’s ears weren’t the only red part; even his face had flushed.
"Austin, you’ve got some nerve, fancying even the vice president of my company?" Seraphina Sinclair found it amusing and deliberately wanted to tease Austin.
"When love comes, you just can’t stop it..." Austin said awkwardly.
Seeing that Seraphina still intended to say more, Austin got a bit embarrassed and annoyed: "Godmother!"
Seraphina then, albeit reluctantly, quashed her gossiping heart and said seriously: "Okay, okay, I won’t tease you anymore. But you must return to Diamond Island. Aren’t you investigating who the boss of Y State is? This is a good opportunity to follow the trail. As for Irene, don’t worry. With your godmother here, nobody will snatch her away from you."
Austin, seeing Seraphina’s serious demeanor, flopped down onto the couch defeated, looking utterly dejected, and said weakly: "Godmother, how can you do this to me? I haven’t even won over your goddaughter-in-law yet, and you’re making me leave. What if someone else takes her away?"
Seeing his helpless demeanor, Seraphina was both exasperated and amused and said: "Alright, alright, don’t look like that. At most, I’ll go and feel out Irene’s thoughts for you. See what she’s really thinking."
"Really! You must let me know the result!" Austin instantly acted revitalized, jumping up from the couch.
Seraphina shook her head at his expression, faster than the weather changes, feeling she just couldn’t talk to him.
Where’s the supposedly cold and dangerous hacker? How did he turn into a lovesick fool?
The Kevin Group.
Irene Rowe had just finished work and was walking out of the company entrance when she unexpectedly noticed that Austin White, who had been picking her up from work every day for some time now, wasn’t there.
For some reason, she suddenly felt a bit disappointed. When she heard Austin’s confession that day, she was surprised and thought he was just acting out of a whim.
Even though he had been picking her up from work every day since his confession and sending her gifts from time to time, she still hadn’t responded to Austin.
It’s not that she wanted to play hard to get, but considering her age and how much younger Austin is, she couldn’t help but think twice.
And with him not coming to pick her up today, does it mean his novelty has worn off?
Clearly, Irene felt she should be relieved, but for some reason, the disappointment just kept growing stronger.
"Waiting for someone?" Seraphina Sinclair suddenly appeared by Irene Rowe’s side, patting her on the shoulder.
Irene looked at the suddenly appearing Seraphina, inexplicably feeling a bit guilty, and couldn’t meet her gaze: "No, why are you here? Is something up?"
"Can’t I come by? Even though I’ve temporarily put Payne in charge of the company, it’s still my business. Can’t I come back to take a look?" Seraphina looked at her teasingly.
"Of course not. Well, President Sinclair, you go ahead, I’ll leave now." Irene Rowe felt as though Seraphina knew something. Being watched like that made her inexplicably guilty.
"Wait a minute, Irene. We haven’t seen each other in a while. Why not find a place to sit down and chat?" Seraphina gently winked at her.
Before Irene realized it, she was being pulled away by Seraphina.
In a café, after a bit of small talk, Seraphina went straight to the point.
"Irene, don’t you think you’ll have to start calling me mother-in-law soon? My goddaughter-in-law?" Seraphina stirred her coffee slowly, smiling brightly as she spoke.
Irene’s face turned beet red after hearing her words: "No, there’s nothing between Austin and me, Seraphina, you must have gotten it wrong."
"But Austin told me you are my future goddaughter-in-law. Whose words should I believe?" Seraphina rested her chin on her hand, looking at her in feigned confusion.
Irene’s face was red, clearly wanting to explain but at a loss for words, her eyes full of shyness. Seraphina saw through it immediately; it seemed both parties had feelings for each other. Since that was the case, she definitely needed to give a little push.
"Alright, alright, regardless of who’s telling the truth, I’d be happy for both of you. But if you were waiting for Austin today, you might be a bit disappointed. Something came up with his family, and he went back yesterday. It might take him a while to return." After saying that, Seraphina closely observed Irene’s expression.
Upon hearing this, a trace of disappointment, unnoticed even by herself, flashed in Irene’s eyes, though she kept a calm facade: "No, I’m much older than Austin. He’s just impulsive and will forget in a while. Am I not happier sailing in my own pond, being a playgirl?"
Having a ’puppy dog’ like him is delightful, but Austin is Seraphina’s godson, different from the other fish around her.
"I can’t agree with that," Seraphina said earnestly, "Age doesn’t matter. You’re rich, beautiful, and have a great figure. If Austin dares make an issue out of this, I’ll break his legs for you."
"Besides, do any of your fish look better than my godson? He’s smart, good-looking, wealthy, can be either dominant or submissive—the perfect candidate for a boyfriend." Seraphina enumerated Austin’s virtues enthusiastically, almost praising him to the skies.
Austin was her godson—he couldn’t lose!
Irene pouted: "Normally, you seem to dislike him. Why are you suddenly speaking up for him?"
"Ahem, my dislike is a loving dislike." Seraphina took a sip of coffee.
Irene rolled her eyes at Seraphina: "Enough, you just want me to call you godmother so you can take advantage of me, right?"
"So you’ve figured it out. Nice work, Irene; you’ve improved a lot lately." Seraphina laughed, and the two smoothly shifted the conversation.
After all, these matters are best touched upon lightly. A forced melon isn’t sweet. Moreover, Irene always handles things neatly. The fact that she didn’t outright reject it means Austin still had a chance.
Later that night, as soon as she got home, Austin eagerly called to ask about the incident. Naturally, Seraphina truthfully recounted the day’s events, adding some encouragement, and then heard Austin’s giggles on the other end of the line like a silly person.
"Really..." Seraphina shook her head helplessly, yet her eyes were full of mirth.
