CHAPTER 148: CHAPTER 148: GRANDMA THINKS YOU’RE COLD

"Great-grandma!" As soon as Jude Sinclair saw Old Mrs. Fairchild, he ran over and hugged her.

"Oh, Jude has grown taller recently." Old Mrs. Fairchild smiled, looking at Jude, who was wearing a white fluffy coat and resembled a glutinous rice dumpling.

"Grandma." Seraphina Sinclair also walked over, carrying gifts she bought for Old Mrs. Fairchild.

"Oh, you shouldn’t have brought these things, it’s not like grandma lacks anything. Seraphina, why aren’t you wearing more clothes in such cold weather?" Old Mrs. Fairchild glanced at Seraphina’s slightly thin figure, full of disapproval.

"Grandma, I’m already dressed warmly." Seraphina said, somewhat helplessly.

"Desmond, you’re spoiling Seraphina too much, letting her wear so little. What if she catches a cold?" Not willing to scold Seraphina directly, Old Mrs. Fairchild directed her words at Desmond Fairchild.

Desmond Fairchild was silent for a moment and then, obligingly, draped his own coat over Seraphina.

Seraphina "..."

Alright, there truly is a kind of cold where your grandma thinks you’re cold.

"You better take your coat back now, I’m about to overheat." Finally escaping Old Mrs. Fairchild’s sight for a moment, Seraphina eagerly took off the coat.

Desmond took the coat, suddenly frowned at her, then reached out and pinched her cheek: "Have you lost weight recently?"

Seraphina, puzzled, touched her face: "I don’t think so. I feel the same as before?"

However, Desmond suddenly leaned towards her ear and spoke in a low voice: "You’re not allowed to lose weight, otherwise how will I get a good feel when I hold you?"

Seraphina’s face flushed red, she glared at him angrily, then stomped on his foot hard before turning away satisfied.

That day, the atmosphere in the old house was harmonious, and little Jude, being mischievous and eloquent, kept Old Mrs. Fairchild amused with his sweet words, occasionally showing concern for Seraphina.

Desmond, on the other hand, was forgotten by Old Mrs. Fairchild, and even Seraphina was giving him the cold shoulder due to earlier incidents.

Desmond "..." Alright, he’s used to it.

After dinner, Old Mrs. Fairchild specifically called Seraphina into the study alone. Before coming, Desmond had already told Seraphina that Old Mrs. Fairchild knew about their agreement, so Seraphina wasn’t too surprised and followed her into the study.

"Seraphina, Desmond must have talked to you about it. You should know why I called you in here, right?" Old Mrs. Fairchild said, holding Seraphina’s hand and sitting her down on a chair in the study.

"I know." Seraphina nodded.

"Ah, I’m getting old. I truly don’t know what you youngsters are thinking anymore, or understand your loves and hates. Grandma just wants to ask you one thing now, what do you really think of Desmond?" Old Mrs. Fairchild shook her head, seriously asking Seraphina.

Seraphina simply smiled and said softly, "Grandma, I can earnestly tell you now, Desmond loves me, and I love him the same way he loves me."

Having gone through previous events, she gradually realized that avoiding problems didn’t resolve anything and confronting her feelings could actually make her more relaxed.

Upon hearing this, the big stone hanging in Old Mrs. Fairchild’s heart finally settled, and she felt markedly relieved.

"That’s good, that’s good. Grandma tells you, if Desmond ever does anything to wrong you or make you angry, come tell grandma and I’ll teach him a lesson." Old Mrs. Fairchild said.

Seraphina burst into laughter, her eyes crinkling as she nodded, feeling deeply touched.

Desmond didn’t know what the two of them were talking about upstairs, but seeing them come down with smiles made him subconsciously relax.

"Desmond, come here. I want to tell you, if you ever dare do anything to make Seraphina angry again, I’ll be the first to teach you a lesson." Old Mrs. Fairchild said earnestly as Desmond walked over.

Jude heard it and came over to join in: "And me, if you make mommy angry again, I won’t help you cheer her up."

Seraphina didn’t say anything and just kept smiling at him. In that moment, Desmond deeply understood his position in the family, resignedly nodding his head.

Seeing him like this, Seraphina couldn’t help but laugh, her eyes full of joy, and Desmond, seeing her so, couldn’t help but smile too.

Lloyd Family.

Ethan Lloyd had just stepped into the house and immediately saw Melanie Lloyd sitting on the sofa. He gave her a bland look and then walked up the stairs, intending to go to his room.

"So, you finally decided to come home today? Was that little enchantress Avril not able to please you?" Melanie Lloyd couldn’t hold back as she saw him silently heading for his room and spoke up.

Hearing Melanie’s sarcastic words, Ethan paused his steps and turned to look at her, "Melanie, this is meaningless."

"Me, meaningless? Saying I’m meaningless now? Ethan Lloyd, you really disgust me." Melanie stood up from the sofa, her face showing disgust.

Seeing her like this, Ethan’s patience quickly wore thin, and after adjusting his tie, he turned to go back downstairs, heading for the door.

"Stop right there! You just got home, where are you going again?" Melanie hurried to block the door as she saw him leaving.

"Didn’t you say I disgust you? Then I won’t stay here to bother you." Ethan simply didn’t want to waste energy arguing with her.

Melanie finally showed panic; she had spoken impulsively and didn’t genuinely want to drive Ethan away.

"Honey, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that. Please don’t go. I even told Mrs. Lloyd to make your favorite dishes..." she pleaded, hugging Ethan.

However, Ethan pushed her aside, bypassed her, and tried to leave.

"Ethan, if you dare leave today, don’t bother coming back again. Why don’t you just go and live with Avril? What am I to you?" Melanie suddenly exclaimed loudly, her tone carrying a hint of tears.

"What are you to me? Hah, do you know when you came to the company a few days ago, you not only ruined a deal but also turned me into a laughing stock in the circle? Why didn’t I realize before how foolish and brainless you are?!"

Ethan’s anger flared up, and he kicked over a flower pot at the door and shouted at Melanie. After saying this, he turned to leave.

Melanie then seemed drained of all her energy, collapsing onto the carpet. The winter’s bitter chill blew in from outside, and she couldn’t help but shiver. She thought, this year really is cold.
