CHAPTER 184: CHAPTER 184: FISH HEAD SOUP

"Alright, I’ll call them once I finish up these tasks in the next few days," Seraphina Sinclair smiled and nodded, feeling it would be a bit forced to call right now.

"Okay, you’ve been working hard lately too, don’t overexert yourself. Leave work a little early to rest later, don’t push yourself too much. The product issues are minor, and with your skills, you’ll surely handle them," Rosalie Quinn looked at the dark circles under Seraphina’s eyes with concern.

Seraphina was about to speak, but Rosalie continued, "Oh right, I ordered midnight snacks and coffee for everyone, they should arrive in a few minutes. As the boss, no matter how busy you are, remember to take good care of your employees, or else, be careful they might call you Scrooge Rhodes behind your back."

"Got it," Seraphina laughed and ended the video call.

She composed herself and walked out of the office into the workspace, just in time to see a delivery guy carrying two large boxes: "Hello, may I know who Miss Sinclair is? Your delivery is here."

Recalling what Rosalie had just said, Seraphina raised her hand in response, "That’s mine."

"President Sinclair ordered so much takeout!" The food-loving employees were already impatient, "President Sinclair is so kind, ordering midnight snacks for us."

After signing for the snacks and coffee, Seraphina clapped her hands, "Everyone, pause your work for a moment. I’ve ordered midnight snacks and coffee, one serving for each of you, eat your fill before getting back to work."

"Wow! President Sinclair is the best!!"

"President Sinclair is awesome, President Sinclair is awesome!"

Everyone joyfully collected their snacks and coffee. Even working overtime didn’t feel tiring anymore, they even felt it was worth coming to this company. Not only were there midnight snacks during overtime, but also triple overtime pay. As Irene Rowe would say, as long as there’s pay for overtime, she’d work until the company goes bankrupt.

Seraphina also took a portion for herself and was about to head back to her office when a stranger’s voice came from behind, "Hello, may I know who Miss Sinclair is? Your delivery is here, please sign for it."

More delivery?

Seraphina turned to see two large boxes, curious. She whispered to herself, wondering how much Rosalie ordered, so much that no one could finish it.

After accepting it, she glanced at the previous delivery; it was pure Chinese food, four dishes and a soup, a well-balanced meal. This delivery was seafood sashimi and sushi, obviously ordered according to Rosalie’s taste.

Though there was too much ordered for everyone to finish, it would be a waste otherwise, so she let everyone share.

Carrying two portions of midnight snacks, Seraphina returned to her office, turning on her phone to message Rosalie: Miss Quinn, do you have too much money, ordering two portions of takeout, aiming for a fusion of Chinese and Western for better flavor?

Rosalie replied with a confused emoji: I only ordered a sashimi platter and sushi, didn’t order the rest.

Seraphina was stunned, quickly replying: You didn’t order? Then who ordered these four dishes and a soup Chinese meal?

Rosalie sent another confused emoji: Miss Sinclair, didn’t you check the order? How would I know? It’s probably ordered by Irene.

She could only think of Irene, given that only she and Seraphina were working overtime together.

Seraphina didn’t reply to Rosalie, walked out of the office to check the order details on the box. The address was indeed Kevin’s, and the recipient was Miss Sinclair. She recognized the order’s phone number instantly.

The middle four digits of the phone number were obscured, but she was familiar enough with it to guess who it was just by the last four digits.

She never thought Desmond Fairchild, despite being at odds with her, would do such a thing.

Lately, they would greet each other occasionally, but hadn’t called or texted.

Whenever she had a quiet moment, his image would unconsciously pop into her mind, his voice and laughter seemed etched into her heart, as soon as she stopped, her whole heart felt completely filled.

Since when had he become such an indispensable part of her life?

She didn’t know; she didn’t realize truly falling for someone felt so wonderful. Thinking back, could what she felt for Ethan Lloyd be called love?

"BOSS, what are you thinking? I’ve been knocking for ages, you didn’t respond. I thought something happened to you," Irene Rowe pushed the door open, a worried look on her exquisite face.

Seeing Seraphina sitting well on the sofa, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

Seraphina had always had poor health and depression, so Irene stayed close to her at all times in the company, fearing something might happen to her. After knocking for a long time with no answer, she was almost frightened to a heart attack.

"Nothing, what’s up?" Seraphina snapped back to reality and realized she had instinctively opened the chat with Desmond Fairchild.

Irene pointed to the food on her desk, showing a meaningful expression: "Someone told me to make sure you eat all the midnight snacks."

"I never realized you had the potential to be a spy," Seraphina sulked, slowly unfolding the two portions of midnight snacks in front of her.

Kindness from friends and her husband shouldn’t go to waste.

Irene cheerfully sat across from her with her own midnight snack: "Anyway, you can’t finish all this alone, let me help."

"Don’t you have yours?" Seraphina rolled her eyes, pulling all the midnight snacks to her side, her protective posture like a mother hen guarding her chicks.

"Do you have to be so stingy; some colleagues were voracious, so I gave up my share of salmon to them. Just let me try a little," Irene said, deftly picking up chopsticks.

Her quick hands caught Seraphina off guard. Watching a piece of delicious salmon disappear into her mouth, Seraphina could only resign.

Under Irene’s close watch, Seraphina finished the Chinese meal, while Rosalie’s sashimi platter was mostly devoured by Irene.

Seeing Seraphina satiated, Irene’s role as a little caretaker was done, so she quickly went to report to Desmond Fairchild.

As for Seraphina, benefiting from others made it hard not to at least greet a certain man who was also working overtime.

When Seraphina’s text arrived, Desmond Fairchild was in a meeting with Quentin Jennings and others discussing the company’s next steps. Behind him, a large screen projected Desmond’s personally crafted three-year company development plan tree diagram.

Everyone was deep in conversation when a WeChat message popped up on the screen, the large font and intimate profile name catching everyone’s attention.

Heart’s Desire [Desmond]: President Fairchild, thank you for the midnight snack, the fish head soup was especially delicious.

Quentin, seeing this, couldn’t help but whistle teasingly, "President Fairchild, who would have thought you’re such a romantic? Delivering fish head soup to the missus late at night, classic you!"

Though he wanted to tease Desmond more about his contact name for Seraphina, he wouldn’t dare.

Desmond didn’t say a word, his black eyes calmly sweeping over Quentin’s face, then he quickly picked up his phone and tapped on it. The projection screen showed WeChat going offline from the client side.
