Chapter 236: Don’t Ask for Trouble and You Won’t Get Hurt
CHAPTER 236: CHAPTER 236: DON’T ASK FOR TROUBLE AND YOU WON’T GET HURT
Simon knew what she was up to. On a rare day off, his wife was going to comfort her best friend. Though helpless, he didn’t utter a single complaint and obediently drove Rosalie to Kevin.
Rosalie was also a regular at Kevin’s, often treating everyone to coffee and milk tea. When she arrived, the staff were enthusiastically greeting her.
"Rosalie, what brings you here?" Zoe at the front desk stood up immediately to welcome Rosalie upon seeing her.
Rosalie waved to the delivery man behind her, who then brought in two boxes of coffee.
She smiled and said, "Zoe, distribute the coffee please."
"Thank you, Rosalie." Zoe beamed, thinking how kind Rosalie was for treating everyone to coffee again.
Since Rosalie frequented Kevin’s, she went straight to Seraphina’s office without any hindrance, not even needing to knock before entering.
"Oh, our President Sinclair is still busy?" Rosalie placed the coffee she brought in front of Seraphina and looked at her with a smile like a blooming flower. "Got time tonight for a meal together?"
Seraphina didn’t lift her head, her eyes indifferent: "No time."
"I say, Miss Sinclair, could you be less heartless? We haven’t had a solo hangout in ages. Do me a favor and have a meal with me." Rosalie clasped her hands together, posing a gesture of prayer.
Seraphina’s expression remained unchanged and her hands continued working: "Say what you need, I’m busy."
Rosalie pouted in annoyance, pulling Seraphina’s hand away from the computer, forcing her to meet her eyes: "I booked a spot at the Maya Hotel for six o’clock this afternoon. I hope you’ll be there on time. I have something to say."
After speaking, Rosalie didn’t care whether Seraphina agreed or not, as she strutted out of the office with her bag.
Six o’clock in the afternoon.
Seraphina appeared at the Maya Hotel right on time.
After giving Rosalie’s name to the front desk, she was immediately led into a large private room.
Upon seeing Seraphina, Rosalie let out a laugh, "I knew you would come."
"What requires a private meeting?" Seraphina put down her bag and slowly took a seat.
To be honest, she really wasn’t in the mood to go out for dinner, but she understood that her sour mood shouldn’t be taken out on others.
Rosalie motioned for the waiter to bring Seraphina a cup of hot milk and then quietly said, "Actually, it’s nothing important. It’s just that I noticed you haven’t been in a good mood these past few days, and I’d like to cheer you up."
"If there’s nothing important, I’m leaving," Seraphina said, standing as if to go.
Rosalie hurriedly stopped her: "Why are you rushing off? Besides wanting to cheer you up, I have something else to tell you."
Seraphina sat down and said mildly, "What is it?"
"It’s nothing major, but someone recently contacted me, saying they wanted to see you." Rosalie sucked on a straw and asked Seraphina, "Do you remember the senior from school who pursued you?"
Suddenly bringing it up, Rosalie left Seraphina momentarily baffled, displaying a puzzled expression.
She tapped the table and patiently explained: "The one who was exceptionally talented, had a well-off family, very outstanding in every aspect? Remember him? He pursued you and got rejected because your heart was entirely set on Ethan at that time, breaking his heart."
"Have some recollection," Seraphina recalled, as there seemed to be such a person.
"Thought you’d remember." Rosalie chuckled and continued, "After you rejected him, he seemed to go abroad due to family matters and hasn’t been heard from since."
Seraphina had no interest, responding perfunctorily: "And?"
Rosalie looked at her speechlessly: "So recently he returned to the country and asked me about you, knowing you’re now in Bayside City, wants to meet you."
"Since I rejected him back then, what identity should I use to meet him now he’s back?" Seraphina refused without hesitation, "We should just remain strangers; there’s no need to meet."
Indeed, as Rosalie described, she recalled he was exceptionally impressive back in the day.
But now she has a child, though there’s a problem with her child’s father, it’s still inappropriate to meet someone who once liked her.
"That’s what I think too, but hasn’t it been said that you and President Fairchild have already had major issues? Since he can find a mistress, why can’t you? Anyway, since you two haven’t really separated yet, it wouldn’t hurt to irritate him." Rosalie raised her eyebrows, suggesting to Seraphina.
Seraphina, however, glared at her in annoyance: "Not to mention I’m unwilling to do something so thankless, even if I were willing, do you think that’s fair to others? How would you handle it afterward after dragging an innocent person into this?"
"At worst, just kick Desmond aside and be with your senior. I actually thought the senior was quite nice too." Frightened by Seraphina’s glare, Rosalie shrunk back and muttered softly.
"Nonsense!" Seraphina frowned hard; she never imagined exacting revenge on Desmond nor starting a new romance with someone else.
Rosalie pouted and defensively whispered, "No need to be so fierce. I was just randomly speaking. If you don’t want to, forget it; no need to get angry."
Seeing Rosalie’s little-wife manner, Seraphina felt mixed emotions: "I know you’re thinking for me, but some things can’t be done like this. That’s it for today, I’m heading back now."
"I’ll see you off," Rosalie immediately followed her out.
Rosalie escorted Seraphina back to Azure Cloud Shores, just in time to bump into Desmond who had just returned.
Lately, although he hadn’t moved out of Azure Cloud Shores, to Seraphina he was practically invisible.
So Seraphina ignored him, went inside, and slammed the door shut just as Desmond was about to enter.
...
Desmond was left in the cold, and Rosalie almost burst into laughter.
Serves him right!
Got what he deserved for messing things up, hasn’t he?
Quentin watched her chuckling and shook his head with a click of his tongue.
Rosalie fiercely glared at him: "What are you looking at? A bunch of scoundrels, none of you are any good!"
After scolding Quentin, Rosalie floored the gas pedal and sped away.
Quentin was left speechless, rubbing his head: "How did I end up provoking the Eldest Miss Quinn again?"
Seraphina shut herself in the study upon returning home; Desmond wanted to explain, but she wouldn’t give him a chance.
Jude stood at Desmond’s feet, looking at him in sympathy: "Dad, have you ever heard the saying ’if you don’t mess up, you won’t screw up’?"
Though lacking a full grasp of why, Jude knew absolutely it was Desmond’s own doing that led to the mess.
Desmond twitched his mouth, momentarily at a loss for a rebuttal, because Jude was spot on.
If it weren’t for his presumptuousness, things wouldn’t have ended up this way.
He dejectedly lowered his head, looked at the little guy at his feet, and sighed: "So what do you think Dad should do?"
