Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 297: Encountering the Warren Family Again
CHAPTER 297: CHAPTER 297: ENCOUNTERING THE WARREN FAMILY AGAIN
Rosalie Quinn scoffed at the doctor, "If he dares to change girlfriends, watch me break his leg."
"Go quickly, don’t keep him waiting too long," Seraphina Sinclair chuckled.
"Okay, don’t wait for me. I’ll go to the auction myself." Rosalie’s cheeks flushed as she spoke, and she quickly disappeared.
If Rosalie and Simon Finch weren’t holding on due to years of affection, the two would have parted ways long ago, with Rosalie often disappearing for a while to be with her friends.
Skylark was not one for talking; with Rosalie gone, Fiona Dunn went to her room, Chloe Irving went out shopping, and Seraphina Sinclair found herself with no one to converse with.
Relishing the rare tranquility, she returned to her room where she’d lived for two years, and inspecting every piece of furniture, waves of memories surged toward her, almost drowning her.
From the day she arrived in Bayside City, she had been entangled with Desmond Fairchild; traces of their lives were everywhere in this house.
Upon arriving here, it felt as if those happy times were still vivid.
Seraphina Sinclair sighed deeply, lamenting the changes brought by time.
She and Desmond Fairchild had finally become strangers.
Sitting on the sofa, she looked at the book she had once taken from Desmond’s study but could no longer find the feeling she once had.
"What are you thinking about?" Fiona Dunn suddenly appeared, leaning against the doorframe, secretly watching Seraphina Sinclair.
Without lifting her head, Seraphina replied, "Weren’t you upset and planning to ignore everyone? Why are you here?"
Fiona Dunn chuckled, "I’m just too bored. My stomach is growling and I have nothing to do, so I thought I’d chat with you. I just saw a room displaying Desmond’s photos; seems like you two used to live here together?"
Seraphina didn’t answer, which was confirmation enough.
"Your relationship must have been good; why has it come to this?" Fiona had never asked Seraphina about this, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t curious.
She refrained from asking so as not to remind Seraphina of painful memories, but seeing Seraphina willing to return to their former dwelling, perhaps she didn’t mind anymore.
Seraphina put down the book, not responding to Fiona; some things were hard to explain.
Thinking back now, Desmond’s cheating seemed too deliberate, almost as if it were a scripted plot waiting for her to act.
Sometimes she wondered if it was her imagination, as though Desmond hadn’t truly left her.
But dwelling on these thoughts was pointless; Desmond was now Nina Kerr’s boyfriend. Whether sincere or not, it was over between them.
Fiona saw her not answering and kept pursuing, "Seraphina, haven’t you moved on from Desmond? In my opinion, he’s a jerk you shouldn’t care about. You’re good-looking and wealthy; what kind of husband can’t you find?"
"Weren’t you hungry? Why so chatty?" Unable to bear Fiona’s chatter, Seraphina dug out a banana from the fridge and stuffed it into her mouth.
The cold banana stuck in her mouth, freezing Fiona until she yelped. She pulled out the banana and glared fiercely at Seraphina, "What are you doing? I’m just asking; why so hostile?"
"You should eat more and talk less; it’s cuter." Seraphina glanced at her, frowning slightly.
"Fine, no more talking. You’re so stingy." Knowing continued questioning would irritate Seraphina, Fiona squatted to eat the banana.
Thinking about how long it was until the afternoon auction, Fiona faced Seraphina, who didn’t want to talk, and Skylark, who didn’t talk at all, and felt she was about to explode from boredom.
In her youthful vigor, not one to sit patiently, she was nearly dying of boredom.
Had Seraphina not repeatedly warned her against going out alone, she would have gone to play already.
But being unfamiliar in Bayside City, despite Austin White’s presence, he was busy with work and had no time for her.
At five in the afternoon, the auction began as scheduled.
Seraphina and her group, dressed to the nines, arrived at the auction venue, finding numerous luxury cars parked at the entrance.
Fiona muttered, "Looks like all today’s attendees are wealthy."
If Rosalie were here, she wouldn’t miss the chance to mock Fiona. Despite how the Dunn family compared to others, she was the wealthiest, yet saying it like someone who hadn’t seen the world.
But with Rosalie absent, Seraphina naturally wouldn’t mock her. Skylark now played the role of a bodyguard, unlikely to entertain her.
Finding it dull, Fiona stopped talking.
The group entered the auction hall, found their seats using the number cards given at the entrance, and as soon as Seraphina sat down, Rosalie and Simon Finch walked in hand in hand.
Simon maintained his gentlemanly demeanor, nodding lightly to greet Seraphina.
"Today’s auction is grand, attracting individuals of various trades and even prominent figures from the political arena. Being invited is truly a miracle."
Voices whispered behind Seraphina’s seat.
"What’s wrong with our family? We’re not bad," a charming voice caught Seraphina’s attention.
Turning her head, she saw yesterday’s encounter, Shannon Warren, sitting beside the timid Wendy Warren.
Today, Shannon was dressed flamboyantly, a fiery red gown paired with a delicate shawl, adding a touch of femininity. But the sharp and ambitious look in her eyes seemed out of place.
"Pettiness," Fiona quietly mocked.
Seraphina slightly curled her lips; Fiona was right. Despite the Warren family’s wealth, they couldn’t compare to those present.
Fiona addressed Seraphina and her group, "Did you see the woman beside Shannon Warren? That’s Wendy Warren, President Warren’s latest wife, exactly alike to Shannon. One look at their spiteful faces shows they’re mother and daughter."
Rosalie couldn’t help turning to glance, chuckling at the sight, "You’ve described them perfectly."
Sitting beside Shannon was her mother, both wearing identical red gowns and shawls, adorned lavishly with glistening jewelry, appearing overly grand.
Jewelry can elegantly accentuate attire, but overdone and messy arrangements lose appeal, only adding vulgarity.
Especially Shannon, dressed more striking than her mother, resembling a nouveau riche, making her look ostentatious.
Beside her, Wendy wore an ink-colored gown, sporting agate earrings with a platinum necklace, modest but fresh and natural, her grace evidently superior.
Fiona criticized again, "I don’t know what President Warren was thinking, going for this type. His family must be so infuriated. If I marry a flashy wife, it’d be mortifying."
