CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: GOOD WINE NEEDS NO BUSH
Thus, in her half-dazed, half-awake state, she was led to a family-style restaurant.
This place was hidden in a very old alley, the alley quite long, illuminated by just a few dim streetlights, giving off a somewhat desolate feel.
Standing at the end of the alley, Seraphina Sinclair looked back and said surprisingly, "How did you find this place? I’ve lived in Bayside City for over twenty years and never discovered a place like this."
"You’re a Bayside City native?" Desmond Fairchild knowingly asked.
"Mm." Seraphina Sinclair tugged at her red lips, seemingly unwilling to say more, then rubbed her belly and walked into the restaurant, muttering, "I’m starving, wonder what’s tasty here."
Desmond Fairchild followed her in, and the enthusiastic owner immediately came out to greet them.
"Oh, who do we have here, Desmond’s here." The owner greeted Desmond Fairchild, his wrinkled face beaming with a bright smile.
Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes darted between the two of them, with a slight lift of her lips, "Do you know each other?"
The owner nodded repeatedly, "Know him? If it wasn’t for Desmond’s help, this little shop would have closed down twenty years ago."
"Twenty years ago?" What was Desmond Fairchild doing twenty years ago? Wasn’t he just a kid? How could he have helped?
Of course, Seraphina Sinclair didn’t ask further. Other people’s affairs weren’t for her, an outsider, to comment on.
The owner saw that she was brought by Desmond Fairchild, and his gaze at her was different.
Although he didn’t talk about what happened twenty years ago, his next words made Seraphina Sinclair’s heart race again.
"Young lady, are you Desmond’s girlfriend? I’ve known him for so many years, yet it’s the first time I’ve seen him bring a girl here." The owner gave an ambiguous smile, as if he had seen through everything.
Seraphina Sinclair instinctively rebutted, "The first one? Could the owner be mistaken?"
With so many sponsors before, how could she be the first?
"Though I’m old, my memory is quite good. You indeed are the first girl Desmond has ever brought here." The owner assured with certainty.
Seeing the two seemed to want to continue chatting, Desmond Fairchild spoke lightly, "Uncle Miller, give me the usual."
Uncle Miller understood immediately, "Alright, take a seat, the dishes will be ready soon."
Once they were seated, Seraphina Sinclair took a good look around the shop.
The shop wasn’t particularly large, with just over ten tables, but it had a peaceful, clean, and sanitary environment.
The taste of the food amazed Seraphina Sinclair; it was no wonder someone as particular as Desmond Fairchild often came here to eat.
As the saying goes, good wine needs no bush; with such good flavors, it’s no wonder Desmond Fairchild found this place.
After dinner, Seraphina Sinclair pulled Desmond Fairchild to return to Azure Cloud Shores.
They happened to bump into Sue who was preparing to leave, she greeted the two, "Mr. Fairchild, Miss Sinclair, you’re back."
The Azure Cloud Shores house was too large, but Seraphina Sinclair didn’t like having too many people around, so she hired a part-time worker to come daily.
Seraphina Sinclair nodded slightly, "Headed back?"
"Yes." Sue lowered her eyes, seemingly not daring to look at her directly.
"Take care on the way," Seraphina Sinclair said politely.
After Sue left, Jude Sinclair came out of the bedroom wearing pajamas, his clear eyes devoid of sleepiness.
Seraphina Sinclair pulled his hand towards the room, educating him as they walked, "What time is it now? Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"Mommy, when can I go to school?" Jude Sinclair asked.
"What? You want to go to school now? Haven’t you always found kindergarten boring? What made you change your mind today?" Seraphina Sinclair’s starry eyes flickered, expressing her surprise at Jude Sinclair’s sudden mention of schooling.
