Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 54: Why Are You Investigating Me
CHAPTER 54: CHAPTER 54: WHY ARE YOU INVESTIGATING ME
The sudden voice startled Sue, and Seraphina Sinclair watchfully stared at Sue. Earlier, when Sue didn’t respond, she thought Sue had gone out to buy groceries.
"I... I was just checking if there’s anything that needs tidying up in the room."
Sue’s eyes darted around swiftly, her mind racing. She awkwardly smiled and was about to leave, but Seraphina Sinclair blocked her path.
"Desmond Fairchild never lets you clean his study, didn’t you know?" Seraphina instantly saw through Sue’s lie and mercilessly exposed it, "Tell me, what exactly are you doing? Otherwise, we’ll have to take a trip to the police station."
The obviously moved files on the study desk revealed Sue’s lie.
"I... I really didn’t mean to, I had no choice," Sue realized she couldn’t hide it any longer and fell to her knees with tears in her eyes, pleading, "It... it was someone who paid me to do this!"
"Do what?"
Seraphina looked down at Sue, unmoved by her tears, her voice cold and merciless.
"It’s... it’s to investigate your dirt, and also to look into Mr. Fairchild’s identity. I swear I’m telling the truth!"
Sue repeatedly assured, afraid that Seraphina would not believe her, her heart pounding wildly.
Hearing this news was like a bolt from the blue for Seraphina Sinclair. Investigate her dirt? Who was it? And they even wanted to investigate Desmond Fairchild’s identity? Could it be that someone was secretly spying on her life?
Thinking of this, Seraphina couldn’t help but shudder, feeling as if countless eyes were tightly watching her from all around.
"What have you found out?"
Seraphina was actually also curious about Desmond Fairchild’s identity. The longer they spent together, the more she felt that Desmond was not as simple as he seemed. But if she were to find someone to investigate, she felt it was a bit inappropriate. Becoming a family should mean trusting each other, shouldn’t it? Besides, Desmond had never asked about her matters.
But perhaps from Sue, she could get the answers she wanted.
Sue hesitated for a long time and finally, unable to withstand Seraphina’s pressure, carefully pulled a folded newspaper from her apron: "These days I’ve been snooping around under the guise of cleaning, and I only found this newspaper."
Sue tentatively glanced at Seraphina, who opened the newspaper in confusion. The eye-catching headline was like a bucket of icy water pouring over her from head to toe.
"Sinclair Family’s Eldest Daughter Seeks Public Relations, Caught in Cheating Scandal and Suffers Mental Breakdown!"
In the prominent social section, everything that happened five years ago was clearly written. Seraphina’s hands couldn’t stop trembling, and it seemed as if everything from five years ago flashed vividly before her eyes.
"Where did you find this newspaper?"
Seraphina tried to make her voice sound calm, but inside, her heart was already a stormy sea.
"I found it in Mr. Fairchild’s room."
"Get out!"
Seraphina didn’t want to see anyone right now. Desmond Fairchild? The name she had held dearly in her heart, was secretly investigating her?
With trembling hands, she took out her phone and dialed the familiar number. Desmond Fairchild, who was in a meeting, paused when he saw the caller ID and motioned for a break.
The employees were surprised, as they had never had a break in the middle of a meeting before. Did something happen?
"Why are you investigating me?"
Seraphina’s voice was wistful, coming through the phone, filled with restrained anger.
