CHAPTER 67: CHAPTER 67: DESMOND FAIRCHILD HOSPITALIZED

The air was instantly filled with a strong smell of blood. Seraphina Sinclair’s heart tightened, and she immediately reacted. Turning her head, she discovered that Desmond Fairchild, at some unknown time, had appeared behind her to block the light, and now blood was flowing from the back of his head.

With a pale face, he forced a smile at her before passing out.

Seraphina Sinclair stared in shock at the blood-covered Desmond Fairchild, rushing frantically to him with trembling fingers.

"Someone, get over here! Call emergency services!"

"Desmond Fairchild, you must be alright!"

"..."

The scene became chaotic; no one expected such an accident to happen.

Even as Desmond Fairchild was being sent to the hospital, Seraphina Sinclair was stuck in that moment when he pushed her away, unable to forget it.

Nightfall came, city lights were just beginning to shine, and Bayside City began a new round of nightlife.

At this moment, outside the ICU intensive care unit, Seraphina Sinclair anxiously paced back and forth, looking helpless, causing Austin White, sitting nearby, to frown slightly.

"Don’t worry, his injuries aren’t severe. But everything at the press conference was checked, so how could there have been an accident?" Austin White, focusing on the main point, glanced thoughtfully at the ward and fell silent.

Just then, a sudden commotion broke the brief silence.

"Excuse me, which ward is Desmond Fairchild in?" A delicate female voice came from not far away, catching Seraphina Sinclair’s attention.

"I’m sorry, you need to ask at the front desk for that information!"

"Does anyone know where Desmond Fairchild is?"

The sharp and piercing voice grew louder, and the nurses in the corridor showed a bit of disdain in their eyes, with many family members pointing at Shirley Lynch.

"Miss, this is a hospital, please keep your voice down," a doctor passing by couldn’t help but reprimand.

Hearing this, Shirley Lynch was suddenly at a loss for words; no one had ever dared to speak to her so rudely.

"Who are you to mind if I’m looking for someone?" She had just received the news and rushed over, not having time to queue to ask at the front desk, unexpectedly being treated harshly by these people, which infuriated her.

Seraphina Sinclair slightly frowned, not expecting that even though Shirley Lynch was a rich heiress, her arrogant and domineering nature made her quite distasteful.

"Seraphina Sinclair!" Just as she was about to turn around to continue waiting for the doctor to come out, Shirley Lynch suddenly called her name angrily and stormed over, but Austin White immediately stood up to shield Seraphina Sinclair.

"Hmph, I didn’t think you’d always have your little pretty-boy around no matter where you go. Once Desmond Fairchild wakes up, I definitely have to tell him!"

Finally having a chance to confront Seraphina Sinclair without Desmond Fairchild around, Shirley Lynch was frustrated to be stopped by the man in front, resorting to sarcasm.

"Oh?" She turned her head, pulling Austin White behind her, and looked down at Shirley Lynch with a height advantage, her gaze condescending.

"Since Miss Lynch is so confident in herself, why not go in and check on Desmond Fairchild now?"

The patient was undergoing surgery; how could she possibly barge in?

Although Shirley Lynch was arrogant, she wasn’t stupid. She immediately understood that Seraphina Sinclair was mocking her. The scene of herself being reprimanded by the doctor flashed through her mind, causing her face to turn red and blue.

"Seraphina Sinclair, don’t go too far!" She blurted out in anger and shame, and almost at once, she raised her hand attempting to slap.

"Get lost!" Austin White, having been watching the situation, immediately rushed forward and pushed her away as soon as he saw Shirley Lynch make a move.

"Austin, it’s okay." Seraphina Sinclair blinked and pulled Austin White back. She really didn’t take Shirley Lynch seriously, but if Austin White accidentally injured her, it would be a whole new set of troubles.

"Who is the family member? Come with me." The attending doctor emerged from the operating room, walked towards them with slightly furrowed brows, and asked.

"I am." Not wanting to dwell on the conflict, Seraphina Sinclair followed the doctor, her steps somewhat heavy. Shirley Lynch, intending to follow, was unceremoniously stopped by Austin White.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Melanie Lloyd was staring gloomily at the post that had been removed from the trending searches, raging at her computer.

"Damn it! Who on earth has the power to remove all this stuff!" She had exhausted considerable energy to ruin Seraphina Sinclair, and now it was all for nothing!

"Melanie, what’s going on?" Ethan Lloyd, just out of the shower and wrapped in a towel, asked when he saw Melanie so furious.

His words made her freeze, her eyes flashing with panic.

Having spent money to deal with Seraphina Sinclair and steal from Kevin, she had secretly embezzled public funds to investigate, only to be completely swindled. That gap hadn’t been filled yet, and Melanie was terribly guilty, not daring to tell the truth.

"It’s nothing, just frustrated why that woman isn’t dead yet!" She took a deep breath, trying to adjust her emotions, then coquettishly lifted a strand of her hair, exposing a shoulder.

Ethan Lloyd couldn’t control himself, rushing directly at her: "You little vixen..."

The next day, Desmond Fairchild awoke slowly in the hospital bed, noticing someone dozing at the edge of the bed.

The morning sunlight fell on her, seeming to coat her in a golden halo, peaceful and gentle. Watching Seraphina Sinclair like this, warmth spread unconsciously through his heart.

"You’re awake?" Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes snapped open at the sound of the slightest movement. Her sleep was always light, and any noise would wake her. Seeing Desmond Fairchild awake filled her with delight.

"Mm, you stayed with me all night?" Desmond Fairchild’s eyes paused, and he awkwardly looked away.

"Yes, the doctor said there’s nothing serious. Just rest for some time, and you’ll be fine." Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know why, but she felt inexplicably nervous, speaking softly and gently, afraid of upsetting Desmond Fairchild.

"Are you alright from yesterday? Were you scared?" Suddenly, Desmond Fairchild changed the subject, his gaze fixed intently on her.

"I’m fine, you yesterday..." Seraphina Sinclair was about to ask something when she was interrupted.

"Godmother, I’ve brought you breakfast!" Austin White arrived with a large selection of breakfast items, his gaze turning complex when he caught sight of the now-awake Desmond Fairchild.

"I brought some for you too—" He withdrew his gaze, placing the items on the table, not forgetting to add a final note.

Although he felt something was off with this man, since he was Jude Sinclair’s father, observing him longer wouldn’t hurt.

"Thank you." Desmond Fairchild’s expression remained indifferent as he accepted the items and said, "I think I should be fine by now. I’ll be discharged today for recovery; it’s inconvenient here."

"But you’re like this now..." Seraphina Sinclair was about to refuse, but Desmond Fairchild’s firm attitude quickly left her speechless. Austin White found it amusing that Seraphina Sinclair, who used to be quite assertive on the island, seemed so demure with this man.
