Unexpected Marriage: She is the Sugar Mommy!
Chapter 68: I’ll Take Care of You
CHAPTER 68: CHAPTER 68: I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU
"I’ll go handle the discharge paperwork, you guys eat first." Austin White turned and left.
Seraphina Sinclair helplessly glanced at Desmond Fairchild and said nothing more. She opened the food package and brought the spoon to Desmond’s face: "Your body is not well right now; you need to drink more porridge. This is millet porridge."
"Feed me," Desmond said, not taking the spoon. He was enjoying her care and began pushing his luck.
Seraphina thought she heard wrong and stared at him with wide eyes, "What did you say?"
"I got hurt saving you; isn’t it your duty to take care of the patient?" Desmond had an air of self-justification.
"Your hands aren’t hurt!" Seraphina fumed.
Unexpectedly, Desmond suddenly clutched his head, gasping in pain, "It hurts so much. Quick, check if I’m bleeding again."
"Where?!" Seraphina panicked, stood up without any guard, and was caught by a pair of big hands, falling straight into his wide embrace. Her heart was in a flurry instantly.
"Okay, I’ll feed you!" Seraphina’s face flushed, hurriedly getting up and removing his hands from her waist, seeming almost like a hasty retreat.
"Mommy, Mommy!" Even before Jude Sinclair entered, a worried voice called out from outside the door.
"Why are you here?" Seraphina’s limbs stiffened mid-feed; she had never behaved so lovingly with Desmond in front of others, especially not her son.
"Is Daddy okay?" Jude anxiously rushed in. He had hurried over early in the morning after hearing about the accident from Austin White yesterday, afraid his newly acknowledged father was gone.
Hearing this, Seraphina couldn’t help but glare at Desmond, her tone tinged with jealousy, "Is this dad the only thing you see?"
After saying that, she gazed at her precious son with a complicated feeling.
"Ha!" Austin White had just walked in and couldn’t help but laugh when he heard this. He bent down, picked up the little guy, and rubbed his head fondly.
"Little guy, did you miss your second brother?"
"Second brother, put me down!" Jude struggled in dissatisfaction.
Austin’s face fell at that, giving Jude a slight flick on the forehead.
"You little rascal, really a thankless child. Who was it that used to follow me around, begging to be picked up?"
"Ahem!" Desmond feigned a cough, and Jude immediately felt concerned, giving Austin a hard pat, which made him release Jude due to the pain.
"Daddy, are you okay?"
Faced with his son’s concerned inquiries, Desmond couldn’t help but become a bit smug, glancing challengingly at Austin.
"I’m fine, nothing serious now. But why aren’t you in school today?" he questioned in a deep voice.
"I—" Jude was startled and realized he hadn’t asked for leave in his haste to get here.
"Seraphina Sinclair, what right do you have to keep me out!" came Shirley Lynch’s yelling from outside again. She had specially brought a bunch of supplements to visit Desmond today.
But upon arrival, she was stopped by a group of bodyguards at the door.
"Why is it her again?" Austin was displeased, casting an unfriendly glance at Desmond.
Really a magnet for trouble!
"Have the bodyguards send her away!" Desmond felt a headache coming on.
But Shirley managed to push past the guards and barged in forcefully.
"You bitch, what right do you have to keep me outside! I’m clearly the daughter-in-law the old lady approved!" Shirley was indignant, wanting to tear Seraphina apart to vent her anger. However, after her outburst, she realized Desmond was already awake.
"Desmond, you’re awake?" She hadn’t expected her unreasonable side to be exposed to him so nakedly, her face turning pale.
But the person she called didn’t even spare her a glance.
Seraphina crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow, "Oh, it seems the fallen flower longs for love while the running stream shows no interest. Miss Lynch, you might as well save your efforts; you’ll only hurt yourself with no gain."
Shirley’s expression faltered, staring sharply at Seraphina, wishing she could kill her.
However, Seraphina paid no mind to her glare. Instead, she stepped closer and smiled slightly, "But speaking of which, Desmond being in this state is all thanks to you."
Shirley’s angry expression froze, a flicker of panic in her eyes.
"Your place made Desmond get hurt, and you still want to pin the blame on someone else! Seraphina Sinclair, what are you up to?" Shirley felt guilty but maintained a solid front.
"Get out!" Desmond’s expression turned darker upon hearing this.
From Seraphina’s words, it seemed they had found out that the incident with the lamp yesterday was Shirley’s doing. If he had been a moment too late, the one hit would have been Seraphina.
Thinking of this, Desmond’s look at Shirley turned cold.
Shirley was mercilessly thrown out, stomping her foot in anger.
Seraphina pursed her lips, turned around, intending to speak, but unexpectedly, the next second, her legs gave way, and she collapsed, her consciousness scattering quickly.
The next day, Seraphina’s head felt dizzy as she slowly opened her eyes, met by a bright light that felt uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a small hand reached out to shield her eyes. The small hand was tiny, but it still cast a dappled light and shadow on Seraphina’s face.
A sweet little voice sounded in her ears, "Mommy? Mommy?"
Once she acclimated, she realized the person beside her was little Jude. Jude was overjoyed to see his mommy awake, "Mommy’s awake!"
Seraphina looked around at the white walls, seemingly recognizing it as the earlier hospital suite, and recalled the event before fainting, rubbing her temples.
What had just happened to her?
She turned her head to see Desmond looking at her with deep eyes.
"What happened to me?"
"You didn’t rest well and fainted from low blood sugar yesterday." Desmond pursed his lips, not looking pleased.
"I slept all day?" Seraphina was shocked and quickly pulled aside the blanket. "Why didn’t you wake me earlier? I have a meeting this afternoon."
"You’re too weak now to overexert yourself."
"I still need to attend the meeting!" Seraphina was displeased, "It’s just low blood sugar; I’m fine now."
"No way!" Desmond’s tone was firm, but seeing Seraphina’s face fall, he softened.
"Desmond Fairchild, do you really think my money grows on trees? If I don’t go to work, where do I get the money to support you and Jude?"
Jude, who had been silent on the side, coughed twice upon hearing this, his eyes widening at Seraphina—Mommy was really good at exaggerating.
Seraphina’s gaze swept over, and Jude quickly shut his mouth, feeling like he couldn’t stay any longer, ran out of the room, thoughtfully closing the door.
"I’ll take care of you." Desmond lowered his eyes, tugging the blanket over her.
