CHAPTER 86: CHAPTER 86: SHOULD BE PUNISHED

Seraphina Sinclair’s abnormal behavior made Desmond Fairchild a bit flustered, and his words turned extreme.

"To what extent have you investigated me? Do you have the right to say such things?" Seraphina gave a cold laugh and suddenly spoke.

Seraphina had known early on that Desmond was investigating her. Besides the newspaper Sue accidentally found in Desmond’s room, some of his actions also allowed Seraphina to feel that this man was checking into her.

For instance, she had never mentioned anything about the Sinclair’s affairs, yet he could promptly say that he’d return Sinclair’s to her.

Desmond was momentarily stunned by Seraphina’s words, and as their eyes met, he felt slightly guilty.

Desmond had investigated Seraphina before purely to confirm this woman’s identity and had no intention of harming her.

Moreover, he hadn’t uncovered anything substantial.

Desmond was most curious about Seraphina’s years abroad, but this period seemed deliberately erased and couldn’t be traced at all.

So the only fact he knew came from Quentin Jennings, that she and Ethan Lloyd had been married.

"Whether you believe it or not, I only know about your past marriage with Ethan Lloyd."

"Then you surely don’t know that Ethan Lloyd is my father’s murderer?"

Seraphina smiled lightly, pretending to be relaxed as she spoke.

Perhaps it was the prolonged repression making it hard for her to breathe, leaving her wanting to find someone to confide in.

She couldn’t say these words to Jude Sinclair because he was still young, and Seraphina didn’t want him to bear such burdens.

And with the three brothers from the White Family, people originally unrelated to Ethan Lloyd, Seraphina didn’t want to drag them into this either.

Desmond was taken aback by Seraphina’s revelation.

He never would have thought this woman would tell him these things.

"I indeed didn’t know about this." Desmond pressed his lips together, suddenly understanding Seraphina’s abnormal behavior, yet clueless on how to comfort her.

"Sometimes I truly find myself ridiculous, picking and choosing, only to marry my father’s killer. Desmond, do you think I’m quite detestable?"

Perhaps if she hadn’t married Ethan, her father might have lived a few more years, and her life wouldn’t have been so ruined.

Desmond clenched his fist, feeling an unprecedented sense of jealousy—had it been him, how would he let Seraphina experience those things?

The marriage with Ethan and her loving Ethan were all parts of her past that he missed.

Desmond half kneeled in front of Seraphina, looking at her seriously before speaking in a low voice: "If you can’t swallow this anger, then take revenge. These people should be punished."

"Really?" Seraphina looked at him.

"Against enemies, you must have the resolve to annihilate them, especially since Ethan Lloyd isn’t someone worthy of sympathy. You’re sad alone, while they’re murderers roaming free." Desmond gazed at her and spoke heavily.

The ailment of the heart requires a cure from the heart. Seraphina’s reluctance to trust herself must relate to that failed marriage.

Perhaps Desmond’s harsh words gave Seraphina the courage, and she quickly composed herself.

Coincidentally, the next day, Seraphina received another voice message from Ethan, similar to yesterday’s, asking her to meet.

This time, however, Seraphina did not refuse but agreed readily, insisting Ethan set the time and place as she would be there on time.

Seeing the message, Ethan couldn’t help but feel a burst of excitement, thinking Seraphina must still have feelings for him to accept the invitation.

Little did he know, Seraphina had already prepared a big scene for him, just waiting for Ethan to take the bait.

After setting the location, Ethan couldn’t focus on work, drove home to shower, changed into an appropriate suit, planning to face Seraphina in his best form.

After all, this was the first private dinner between them since Seraphina’s return.

Of course, Ethan valued the meeting with Seraphina primarily because he was certain she had no connection with Desmond.

Thus, he could fully use their past affection to have a good conversation with Seraphina about their wonderful past.

Unfortunately, full of enthusiasm, Ethan arrived at the arranged place, waiting for Seraphina for almost an hour, only to find she hadn’t come.

Just as he was growing impatient, ready to call Seraphina to inquire, the room door suddenly swung open.

Soon after, Seraphina walked in.

Compared to Ethan’s elaborate attire, Seraphina obviously didn’t care much about this dinner; she didn’t even put on makeup.

Still, her natural beauty was such that even without meticulous grooming, she could make people’s eyes light up, leaving Ethan unable to look away.

"Seraphina, you finally came. I’ve been waiting for you for quite a while."

"Something came up at the company, so I’m late, but only by an hour. Is that all the sincerity you have?" Seraphina spoke casually.

She was deliberately late to see how patient Ethan was with her. She was no longer the naive heiress to be butchered at will; she had transformed beyond recognition.

Moreover, having learned what Ethan had done to her father, there was no way she would let this man go.

Ethan, seeing Seraphina’s indifferent face, didn’t feel embarrassed but instead cheerfully stood up and invited her to sit.

Looking at the pretentious demeanor of the man before her, Seraphina genuinely felt a bit nauseated, as memories flashed vividly through her mind.

Five years ago, when Ethan married her, even then he didn’t treat her as well as his current demeanor.

That saying about good people being taken advantage of rang true; unfortunately, Seraphina had not understood its essence back then.

"Alright, President Lloyd, there’s no need for you to busy yourself. Just say what you have to; I have other matters at the company." Seraphina’s tone was cold, with no intention of giving Ethan any face.

Though Ethan found this Seraphina unfamiliar, he endured as much as possible for the sake of successfully concluding the matter.

Ethan immediately took out two documents from his briefcase and pushed them towards Seraphina, explaining alongside: "Seraphina, last time our Lloyd Group couldn’t collaborate with your Kevin’s, I really regretted it. I understand you didn’t choose us because you had your reasons. But that’s okay, our two companies still have opportunities to work together."

Listening to Ethan, Seraphina was utterly speechless.

There really were such shameless men in the world, saying both good and bad in one breath.

However, Seraphina did not rush to respond, instead pretending to listen seriously, signaling Ethan to continue speaking.
