Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain
Chapter 166: THE TURMOIL WITHIN
CHAPTER 166: THE TURMOIL WITHIN
"Don’t kill him," Hazel said. Arthur was hers to deal with. If there were someone who was going to kill him, it would be her, once she decided that he deserved it.
Ranon was angry beyond words, and Hazel could tell that. She grimaced when he cupped her face and looked her dead in the eyes; she felt like he was able to see her straight to her soul.
He grunted in frustration, and when Hazel thought he was going to lash out at her, he leaned over and pressed his forehead against hers as he closed his eyes.
"Do you know how much I am worried about you?" Ranon asked in a whispery tone. He opened his eyes again and straightened his back. Briefly, he observed her to find any injury, but as far as he could see, there was none.
Still, they were going to go to the hospital to check on her and the baby.
"I am fine." Hazel then added. "The baby is fine..."
Somehow, Ranon’s worry turned into anger to see how casual Hazel was. There was no trace of concern for her situation. She looked very relaxed, while he felt like he was going to go crazy the moment he heard she was being taken away.
Damn this woman!
Ranon leaned down and bit her lips. He pulled her bottom lip as a form of punishment until she protested.
"I am going to add more security around you," he said as he brushed his thumb lightly against her lip to soothe the pain.
"Are you crazy?!" Hazel already had six bodyguards; how many people was he going to add? "No! Not that again!"
Yet, Ranon had walked out of the room, and only then did Hazel learn the scale of his craziness; even she herself was dumbstruck to see Ranon’s men scouring the house.
Arthur can’t have expected this as well. He didn’t have a proper number of people in this house.
Ranon came with three dozen heavily armed people in eight vehicles. The force that Arthur did not expect at all. This time, he was the one who was outnumbered.
First, because Arthur didn’t expect Ranon to find this place in such a short time, and second, because he didn’t think Ranon would bring along such a force.
Arthur thought the marriage happened because Ranon got Hazel pregnant or there was a business deal between him and Dylan Rose, Hazel’s older brother.
"I don’t need..." Hazel didn’t finish her word when she saw Ranon take a gun from one of his men and put Arthur at gunpoint; he was ready to shoot him.
Out of instinct, Hazel rushed to block his aim, which, in hindsight, was a stupid thing to do. Ranon could have killed her, but in such a moment, Hazel didn’t think straight.
Arthur was still her father, and the first instinct that came to her was to protect him, which shocked all of the people there.
Ranon was the most enraged of them all.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Ranon roared at Hazel. He put away his gun and pulled her to his side. What the hell was she thinking?! He could have shot her!
It took everything in Ranon not to lash out at her and rein in his rage for Hazel’s reckless action as she put herself in harm’s way.
"Don’t kill him..." Hazel hastily added. "Yet."
From the corner of her eyes, she could see Ares and Lucian also came. Their eyes were wide in shock to witness Hazel’s action to protect Arthur Lozen.
However, Hazel needed to put her focus on Ranon and calm her husband down first.
Hazel clung to him and whispered in his ear. "We still need him." She wrapped her arms around his neck and tiptoed so she could whisper in his ear while hugging him, but Ranon had to bend down his body slightly too to accommodate her height.
"No, we don’t." Ranon put his arm around her body protectively and secured her so she wouldn’t suddenly jump within his aim. He raised his gun again, ready to shoot Arthur.
"There is something I need to tell you. You can’t kill him now. Kill him later, okay? After you hear what I am going to say." Hazel prayed this would work. She tried to wriggle her body, but his hold on her was too firm for her to get away.
From an outside perspective, Ranon and Hazel were whispering to each other, talking about something that only the two of them could hear.
But eventually, Ranon lowered his gun. Whatever Hazel told him worked.
Ranon wouldn’t kill Arthur... yet.
"Lucian, get her to the car," Ranon said sternly. It didn’t sound like him at all, and Hazel had never seen this side of him.
Quickly, Lucian came to get Hazel. "You look... fine," he commented as he escorted her to the car.
Hazel didn’t want to go but knew she could upset Ranon even more. He looked very mad, as if he would commit carnage.
She didn’t dare to push him further. At the very least, he had lowered his gun.
"I think you need to close your eyes. The sight is not particularly nice to see," Lucian suggested.
"I am fine." Hazel stepped out, and she saw at least there were two dead bodies on the ground and Sam was held at gunpoint by one of Ranon’s men. He glared at her.
Walking beside Hazel, Lucian observed her, and he realized that Hazel didn’t even flinch to see such a gruesome scene with a lot of blood on the ground.
This kind of scene was not something that you would see every day, but Hazel acted as if she had seen worse than this.
Meanwhile, inside the house, Ranon was still contemplating what he was going to do with Arthur.
"I didn’t send the assassins to the Leighton family house the last time."
"It has been confirmed the men were yours."
"Yes, but not under my order."
Ranon raised his gun, but he didn’t shoot him; instead, he used it to hit Arthur’s head very hard until he stumbled back with blood oozing out from the open wound on his temple.
This was also a form of humiliation for Arthur, as it happened in front of his men. All of them tried to get to him, but they were held at gunpoint and forced to kneel.
"We are going to talk about this later." Ranon didn’t have time to deal with Arthur; he needed to go to the hospital to get Hazel checked.
His wife told him not to kill him, but she didn’t say anything about hitting him. Some blood wouldn’t kill him, though...
And after Ranon said that, he left and found Hazel was already inside the car. She smiled at him sheepishly.
"You didn’t kill him, right?" Hazel asked when Ranon opened the car door at Lucian’s side.
"Take another car," Ranon said to Lucian, shooing him away from the car that he would drive with Hazel. There were many things that they were going to talk about.
Lucian hurriedly walked towards another car, while Ranon’s men gradually went to their cars, and they left the beach house.
"Tell me why I can’t kill him," Ranon asked, but his eyes focused on the street. Despite his anger, he drove rather cautiously.
"Look, we can use him!" Hazel said enthusiastically, but then she schooled her face and looked more serious.
There was no indication that she was just kidnapped less than half an hour ago. She was too cheerful and full of energy when she talked for someone who just went through something horrible.
This was the total opposite of what Ranon imagined.
"What do you mean by that?" Ranon asked because he needed to keep his mind busy. The thought of Hazel being hurt still haunted his mind.
He still couldn’t get rid of the horrendous images that he created himself when he thought of the worst thing that could happen to her.
"We can have the Lozen family at our disposal," Hazel suggested. Her eyes lit up, and she was beaming when she explained to Ranon about her plan.
If only Ranon were not too distraught with the ghost that he created in his head, he must have come up with the same plan as Hazel.
Unfortunately, it took him a while to calm down his demon.
"Hm? Why are we here?" Hazel was too enthusiastic to tell Ranon about her plan for the Lozen family since it would align with her plan to get her revenge; it would make things easier for her this way.
She was completely right to marry Ranon, since he mitigated the complication of her revenge.
"Why are we in the hospital?"
"To get you checked," Ranon replied curtly. He unbuckled his seatbelt and did the same to hers.
"I am fine. I am serious. They even fed me and gave me ice cream."
"The more reason you need to get checked."
Hazel glared at Ranon; her brown eyes clouded with frustration. He was being overly protective again, and Hazel needed time to get used to that, though it felt nice.
"You upset me." Hazel didn’t expect it when Ranon suddenly hugged her. He squeezed her body lightly and rested his chin on the crook of her shoulder.
For a long moment, he didn’t say anything and simply held her like that.
"Ranon?" Hazel was oblivious to his inner turmoil.
"I can handle your upset. I just need you to be safe." He kissed her neck gently.
