CHAPTER 164: CHAPTER 164: HOLLY, YOU’VE BEEN WATCHING HIM FOR A FULL MINUTE

The morning wonton stall was filled with the hustle and bustle of life.

Blake Sinclair’s other hand under the table slowly clenched into a fist after hearing what Holly Crowe said.

He looked up, meeting her eyes filled with determination and persistence to recover her memory.

Holly held the spoon, absentmindedly skimming the shrimp shells off the surface of the soup.

"I know, everything you told me is real. But I can’t remember any of it.

Every time feels like looking at my past through a layer of fog, knowing something is there but unable to see it clearly; this feeling of being unable to grasp or see through is so difficult to bear."

She looked up, her eyes like stars covered in dust, bewildered and dim.

Blake Sinclair observed the look in her eyes, his heart twitching with pain.

He understood what she meant; in fact, she didn’t fully believe his words. She only believed in the events themselves but couldn’t accept her absence as a participant.

So she chose to retrieve those memories herself, even if they might be tainted with darkness.

This clear-minded courage made him admire, feel sorry for, and fear for her.

The morning clamor continued, yet a silent torrent appeared between the two, slowly flowing towards that sealed past.

After finishing breakfast and returning home briefly, they prepared to set off.

Holly intentionally told Blake to park the car at the parking lot in front of the village community service station to avoid being seen by Director Lennon.

Blake watched her sneak onto the car and felt displeased.

"Holly, we are a legitimate couple."

"I know, but isn’t this a special situation? What if someone sees us and tells Director Lennon, what am I supposed to say then?"

Back then, she had confidently stated she would return home and said she wanted a divorce from Blake Sinclair; she needed to save face too.

Holly got into the car and fastened her seatbelt, but Blake remained unmoved outside the car door.

"What’s wrong?" she asked.

"Today is the 15th. Holly, shouldn’t you cancel our appointment at the civil affairs bureau first?"

Holly froze, a trace of embarrassment flashing across her face.

Blake raised an eyebrow at her.

She touched her nose, her gaze slightly evasive, "I’ve already canceled it."

After returning home yesterday, the calendar reminded her that today was the day to go to the civil affairs bureau for the divorce procedures. She didn’t know what came over her, but in a moment of heat, she canceled it.

Blake watched her slightly flushed ears, a slight smile tugging at his lips.

Mind Sight Center.

The Maybach came to a steady stop.

Holly looked at the storefront outside through the car window, her mouth twitching.

The neon sign hanging crookedly at the door, with its bold and vibrant colors, almost made her think she had wandered into a late-night bar if it weren’t daytime.

She lightly tapped the glass window with her finger, hesitating, "Did you bring me to the wrong place?"

Aren’t psychological hospitals usually solemn and serious?

Blake unbuckled his seatbelt, looking in the direction she pointed, "Things visible to the eyes are not always real; you have to see with your heart."

The words sounded a bit cryptic, leaving Holly with only a partial understanding, following him out of the car with curiosity.

However, once inside the unconventional entrance, the view suddenly opened up.

An outdoor corridor led to a refined duplex pavilion, with white walls and blue tiles, exuding a sense of Zen.

A flag was planted at the garden entrance, with the words "Mind Sight" written on both sides, fluttering in the wind.

Holly’s curiosity deepened.

No wonder the registration fees to see a psychologist here are so expensive; this gimmick and decor suggest this doctor has some tricks up his sleeve.

Blake led her inside, while Holly couldn’t help but glance around.

Every column along the corridor had a red brocade flag hanging on it, with texts such as:

[Is it possible that emotionally stable people are the truly insane ones?]

[As long as this sentence is long enough, a wise guy will follow along to read it.]

[Put down personal qualities, enjoy a shameless life, refuse mental burnout, act hysterically if you must.]

[Reliable, yet still want to live.]

[Special grapefruit leaves to drive away bad luck.]

Holly stepped forward and touched the grapefruit leaves, they were real!

Initially just carrying an attitude of observance, the more she looked, the more something felt off; her eyebrows knitted deeper with doubt, questioning if this doctor was truly professional.

She couldn’t help but tug Blake’s clothing, pointing at the flags, "You’re not tricking me, are you? Is this doctor reliable?"

He feigned mystery, mumbling for a while, "He is indeed a bit eccentric."

At this moment, a door at the other end of the corridor opened, and a man in a black three-piece suit walked out.

The man had neatly combed back hair, slightly brown under the sunlight.

His figure was tall and slender, a standard nine-heads-tall stature, exuding an imposing aura with every step.

He walked right up to them, stopping, his gaze first landing on Holly, scrutinizing her, lingering for a short moment.

The man’s eyes were very distinctive; at such close range, Holly noticed a deep blue ocean in the depths of his left eye.

He had heterochromia.

Being stared at by that eye made her heart uneasy.

But for some reason, there was a sense of familiarity about him.

As she pondered, a shadow blocked the light.

Blake stepped forward, subtly shielding most of her body behind him, blocking the man’s explorative gaze.

The man’s gaze quickly shifted from her to Blake.

The two exchanged a silent stare, their aura on equal grounds.

"Blake," the man spoke softly, his voice slightly peculiar.

His peripheral vision seemed to catch Holly behind Blake, "Is she your wife?"

"It’s none of your business." Rarely did Holly hear Blake speak to someone with such iciness and even hostility.

"I’m your brother-in-law." The man calmly stated.

Blake sneered, mercilessly pointing out the fact, "You two are already divorced."

"She will come back."

The man’s tone was firm, even carrying a bit of obsession.

Three sentences, the information was explosive.

Brother-in-law?

Laurel Sinclair’s arranged marriage partner!

No wonder he felt familiar; Shirley Sinclair indeed inherited a few of his features.

Blake held Holly’s hand tightly, his voice cold and hard, "Sebastian Shaw, but you’ve already forgotten her."

For the first time, a ripple appeared on the man’s calm face due to this statement.

He fiddled with the wedding ring on his hand, emphasizing each word, "I will remember."

Holly finally realized where the strangeness just now came from.

The man’s speaking cadence was too unique, each word paused where it shouldn’t.

And every sentence was very brief.

Shaw?

Suddenly, she recalled sensational news from four years ago.

The famous Pearl cruise was hijacked, and though there were no casualties, Sebastian Shaw, the heir of the Shan family who was aboard, went missing until being found on a remote beach half a year later.

Rumor had it, he lost both his memory and hearing at the time.

Could it be...

At this moment, the man brushed past them.

Holly turned to look, and sure enough, the sunlight refracted a bit of metallic glint on his ear, a miniature hearing aid.

It was just as she thought.

Her mind filled with the news, she failed to notice Blake’s gaze growing darker beside her.

"Holly, you’ve been staring at him for a whole minute already."

His voice sounded faintly in her ear, tinged with jealousy.
