Urban Martial Saint
Chapter 40: Do Not Be Absolute in Your Actions
All eyes turned toward him, and the man glared, shouting angrily, "What did you say? Who stole something?"
"It was you who stole!" the girl said urgently, "You just passed behind me, and I felt you reaching into my pocket. My wallet was stolen by you!"
"Stop falsely accusing people. Where did I steal your things!" the man retorted angrily, "Catch the thief with the loot, you need to be responsible for what you say!"
"It was you who stole it. You were the only one who walked past behind me just now. There couldn't have been anyone else!" the girl insisted.
The man waved his hand, saying angrily, "I won't waste words with you. Since you say I stole it, I'll stand here and let you search. I'm telling you, if you find nothing, we're not done with this issue today!"
"It's definitely on you. Let's search!" the girl said, reaching out to feel the man's pockets.
Several girls looked on nervously, and Fang Tingyun came over, whispering, "What exactly happened?"
"Who knows!" a girl whispered back, "It's also uncertain whether they'll find anything."
"I think it's unlikely. This person has been caught several times before, but when has anything ever been found on him?"
"Yeah, they must have moved it already. Once the stuff is gone, it's basically impossible to get it back. It's just a loss. She's making a big scene now. Have you forgotten? Because of this, the girl from Building 3 was beaten up terribly last time!"
"These thieves are too arrogant, but the key is, we can't catch them red-handed!"
The girls discussed indignantly, many among them had suffered at the hands of these thieves. So, they dared not carry money when going out anymore, fearing another loss.
The girl searched the man's pockets but found nothing. To prove his innocence, the man even took off his clothes and shook them vigorously; there was simply no place to hide a wallet inside.
"Now you have nothing to say, right!" the man put on his clothes, glared at the girl, and said, "What are you going to do about this situation?"
The girl was both angry and anxious, unable to understand how the man had managed to transfer the items so quickly. Now that no stolen goods were found, she was the one falsely accusing, and she had no explanation if trouble came her way.
"Maybe I saw it wrong, I... I'm sorry..." the girl apologized in a low voice, biting her lip tightly. Knowing it was the man before her who stole her belongings yet apologizing herself was more than anyone could bear!
"If apologies worked, what would we need the police for?" the man glared at the girl and said, "To prove my innocence, I took off my clothes. Now I won't even ask you to compensate me. Just do what I did, and we'll call it even!"
The girl's face changed color. A man taking off his upper garments in public might not be a big deal, but asking a girl to remove her clothes was absolutely excessive.
"Big brother, she is a girl, this isn't right!" someone nearby tried to mediate.
"I think it's quite fair. Since she falsely accused him, she should be prepared for the consequences. You can't just say it and let it go."
"Exactly, people should be responsible for their actions in this world!"
Many in the crowd jeered along with the man, leaving few who spoke up for the girl; most were there just for the spectacle.
The girl's face turned crimson with rage, her body trembling, yet she felt powerless.
With the crowd's support, the man became more encouraged, saying, "No more nonsense, strip quickly, then this matter is settled!"
The girl clutched her clothes, shaking her head, "Impossible!"
"Impossible? You damn well can't leave unless you strip!" the man grabbed the girl, shouting, "If you don't strip, I'll help you..."
As the man reached out to pull at the girl's clothes, a strong hand suddenly grabbed his wrist.
The man looked up to see a young man in a military uniform standing beside him, quietly watching him.
"What is he going to do?" Fang Tingyun's colleagues wondered aloud.
But Fang Tingyun clenched her fists, her face filled with excited joy. She knew that with Ye Qing stepping in, the issue would surely be resolved perfectly!
Ye Qing looked at the man and said softly, "My friend, the money is already in your hands, why go to such extremes?"
"Who the hell are you? What do you mean 'the money is already in your hands', 'going to extremes'? You saw it yourself just now, I don't have a wallet on me. She falsely accuses me, and that's it?" the man measured Ye Qing up and down, "Are you with her or something? Trying to gang up on me through a sheer number of people?"
Ye Qing remained calm, "Every line of work has its rules. You're out here to make money, no need to take things to extremes. If you push too far, you'll leave no room for yourself."
The man impatiently said, "What the hell are you trying to say?"
Ye Qing said, "Let her go."
"Impossible!" the man defiantly replied, "Even if I agree, ask if others agree?"
"We don't agree!" a few people in the crowd shouted loudly, clearly his accomplices.
Ye Qing raised an eyebrow, saying, "So, you're not planning to leave any room for negotiation?"
The man retorted angrily, "Shit, what nonsense about leaving room. If you keep spouting nonsense, believe it or not, I'll beat you up!"
Ye Qing didn't say any more. He turned and walked into the crowd, and before long, he returned pulling a teenager about fourteen or fifteen years old along.
Upon seeing the child, the man's expression changed abruptly, as if he had seen his nemesis.
Ye Qing pulled the child in front of the man and said softly, "I gave you a chance, but you didn't want it. Now, let's settle this matter properly!"
As Ye Qing spoke, he reached into the child's pocket and pulled out several wallets, tossing them onto the ground.
The girl exclaimed in shock, "Ah, my wallet!"
A few others in the crowd also cried out in surprise, hastily picking up their own wallets.
"How could my wallet be on him?"
Everyone was puzzled by this question, while Ye Qing simply watched the man in front of him.
"What's going on here?" the girl looked at Ye Qing, then at the child, and said, "I... I feel like it was him who stole my wallet, why is it on this child?"
Ye Qing replied softly, "Why would a thief hold the stolen goods on himself?"
The girl nodded thoughtfully, but she still couldn't figure out when the man had transferred the wallets to this child.
Seeing the hostile looks from the crowd, the man became anxious and angrily said, "What the hell does this have to do with me? If you find wallets on him, then he is the thief; why are you all looking at me? I don't know what's going on!"
Ye Qing remained silent, then suddenly stepped forward, grabbed the man's cheek, and slightly pinched, forcing the man's mouth open.
Ye Qing then reached two fingers into his mouth and, before everyone's eyes, pulled out a blade.
The man had no chance to resist, and the blade hidden under his tongue was taken by Ye Qing. His expression changed again as he couldn't understand how Ye Qing knew he had hid the blade there. He had practiced this skill for many years; hiding a blade under his tongue and speaking normally was something people usually would not notice!
Seeing this blade, no words were needed. Those who had their pockets cut didn't need to hear any more excuses from the man; it was clear he couldn't talk his way out anymore.
The man's expression turned extremely grim as he glared at Ye Qing and said angrily, "How... how did you know I had a blade under my tongue?"
Ye Qing replied, "When you speak, the way you pronounce the sound of knowledge is slightly unnatural. To produce that sound, the tongue has to be flat. It seems that when you pronounce it, your tongue deliberately tries to avoid something."
The man was on the verge of breakdown, as he never imagined Ye Qing would notice such a small detail. Losing over such a minute detail, he had no choice but to accept it!
"Kid, you've got guts!" the man clenched his teeth and said angrily, "I have no grudges against you, why the hell are you screwing up my affairs?"
Ye Qing replied softly, "As I just said, even thieves must have a code. It's one thing to steal from people, but why be so aggressive?"
The man shouted angrily, "Cut the crap, I have to teach you a lesson today or how the hell am I supposed to get along later?"
Ye Qing shook his head, "You really shouldn't try to teach me a lesson."
"Why?" the man glared, "Are you scared?"
Ye Qing earnestly said, "I just found a job today, I'm in a good mood, and I don't want to see blood."
What Ye Qing said was the truth, but the truth is not always easy for people to accept.
The man thought Ye Qing was mocking him and roared, "Then I'll let some of your blood first!"
As the man spoke, his fist was already smashing towards Ye Qing.
"Be careful!" Fang Tingyun couldn't help but exclaim.
However, her warning was unnecessary. Before the man's fist could reach Ye Qing, Ye Qing had already caught it.
"You still have time to leave!" Ye Qing sincerely said.
"Fuck off!" The man kicked at Ye Qing.
Ye Qing sighed, realizing that this was not going to end well. He followed the man's movement, lifting his foot, and struck first, hitting the man's knee.
The man screamed miserably and immediately collapsed, his right leg twisted in an abnormal way, indicating a broken leg.
"Kill him!"
Several more people rushed in, all accomplices of the man, and some even drew weapons to charge at Ye Qing.
Fang Tingyun anxiously watched Ye Qing. Although she believed Ye Qing wouldn't be at a disadvantage, the sight still worried her.
Ye Qing, however, was calm; this kind of fight was almost like child's play to him. In less than five minutes, all of them were lying on the ground screaming in pain, with the least injured having a dislocated wrist, and the most severely injured bleeding from broken nasal bones.
The crowd around them stared in astonishment at everything that had occurred, and it took a long time before they finally burst into cheers.
They had often been bullied by this gang here. Previously, having their belongings stolen, most were angered but dared not speak out. This time, Ye Qing had avenged everyone, and even Fang Tingyun's colleagues' views of Ye Qing changed considerably.
