Chapter 24 - 24 24 Selected Medical Hall
24: Chapter 24 Selected Medical Hall 24: Chapter 24 Selected Medical Hall Qin Han had just finished his acupoint invigoration in the morning when Zhou Wenfeng’s phone call took him to Huqing Street.
On the way, Qin Han asked Zhou Wenfeng, “Wen Feng, actually, I could have chosen one myself.
Isn’t your company busy?”
Zhou Wenfeng’s response was a rarity of solemnity as he lightly said, “Qin, no matter how busy the company is, it won’t be busier than the president.
If the president is overwhelmed every day, then what’s the point of hiring so many people?
Besides, compared to a group of people, an individual’s energy is ultimately limited.”
Qin Han nodded thoughtfully.
He was someone who liked to handle everything personally, and doing so really could be exhausting.
“Aren’t you afraid that if you’re not at the company, there might be oversights?”
“No, the company is already well-established.
What I need to learn now isn’t how to start a business, but the art of managing people,” Zhou Wenfeng said, reverting to his usual cheery demeanor.
Qin Han watched Zhou Wenfeng drive, silently admiring him.
After all, he was a scion of a great family; the way he thought about and approached issues was different.
Seeing Qin Han looking at him, Zhou Wenfeng quickly said, “Qin, I haven’t used any tricks on you.
I truly value our time together.”
Qin Han laughed and patted Zhou Wenfeng on the shoulder, “Of course, I know that.
And I’m not that easy to fool either.”
“Exactly!” Zhou Wenfeng verbally agreed, but inside he shivered.
Indeed!
Qin was no ordinary person!
Huqing Street was lined with traditional Chinese medicine clinics and some pharmacies.
The real estate here was said to be worth its weight in gold, and was virtually impossible to buy!
The two had almost made their rounds through the entirety of Huqing Street before they found a clinic that was up for transfer near the inner part of the street — Miao Shou Tang.
The name wasn’t very imaginative, and the location wasn’t great, but Qin Han particularly liked the interior design style.
They walked into Miao Shou Tang, where only an elderly doctor and a young girl dozing off in the medicine cabinet were present in the main hall.
Upon seeing visitors enter, the elder spoke, “Are you here for a consultation, or…?”
“We’re interested in this shop,” Zhou Wenfeng promptly said.
“Oh?” The elder scrutinized them, then stood up and continued, “Since it’s about the shop, let me state my three conditions first!”
“Hmm?” Zhou Wenfeng and Qin Han were both somewhat surprised.
Did this elder think his shop was in such high demand?
The buyer hadn’t made any demands yet, and the seller had conditions?
“Let’s hear them!” Qin Han replied with a light smile.
“First, the shop’s price is five million, not a penny less!”
“Second, the business must continue to operate as a clinic!”
“Third, the prices of the medicinal materials cannot exceed my previous pricing!”
“If you can accept these three conditions, then we can continue discussing,” the elder finished, and without paying them any further attention, he sat back down in his old chair.
Zhou Wenfeng took a sharp intake of breath.
He was wealthy but not foolish!
The location of the shop was definitely not worth five million; offering three million was already the limit, yet the elder was asking for five million.
Opening a clinic wasn’t a problem, as they were already planning to open a hospital for Qin Han, but to restrict the price of medicines as well?
Before he could speak, Qin Han had already begun to respond.
“Everything else is fine, but is there room to negotiate the price of the property?
I intend to open a clinic myself, and the issue with medicine pricing can be resolved.”
“Five million, not a penny less!” the elder’s stubbornness was as firm as before, and after speaking, he simply closed his eyes.
With his temper flaring, Zhou Wenfeng pulled Qin Han to leave, muttering as they walked, “Qin, let’s look at other places.
This old man is infuriating.
Asking for five million for this shop, why doesn’t he just rob us?”
The elder showed no sign of anger from Zhou Wenfeng’s words, still sitting there with an air of indifference, feigning sleep.
Qin Han grabbed Zhou Wenfeng, shook his head at him, then turned to look at the elder and spoke.
“If I could let you live another decade or so, would there be room to discuss the house price?”
As soon as Qin Han’s words fell, the feigning elder instantly opened his eyes, sat up, and looked at Qin Han with a face full of shock.
“What did you say?”
“I suppose you want to sell this clinic because you’re afflicted with an incurable disease, right?
You’re asking for five million because you want to leave a living expense for your granddaughter, right?
As for the stipulation about running a clinic and the issue of drug pricing, they are merely your personal wishes, no more.”
Qin Han’s subsequent words were even more astonishing.
“How… how did you know?”
Upon hearing this, the elder looked at Qin Han with eyes full of shock.
Only he knew about his fleeting life, even his granddaughter was unaware.
How could Qin Han have perceived it?
Could this young man also understand the art?
And had he achieved divine comprehension?
“Grandfather?” The girl from the medicine cabinet cried out in surprise.
By now, she too was awake and voiced her inquiry about the truth of the elder’s condition.
Seeing his granddaughter’s worried gaze, the elder couldn’t help but respond with a bitter smile and a nod.
“Is there room to talk?” Qin Han asked again.
“Can you really cure my illness?” The elder asked gravely.
“What’s so difficult about that,” Qin Han said, his face brimming with confidence.
“Young man, if you can cure my illness, I’ll sell this clinic to you for only one million!”
“One million?” Qin Han raised an eyebrow and slowly began to speak.
“Young man, know your limits.
If it’s less than one million, I’d rather leave my granddaughter with some family wealth, even if it means not treating my illness,” the elder said with determination.
“I have two conditions too!” Qin Han didn’t respond to the elder’s statement but instead smiled back.
“What conditions?”
“First, the house price will be two million.
Second, you must continue to practice medicine in the clinic,” Qin Han stated succinctly.
After hearing this, the elder was taken aback, staring blankly at Qin Han.
Zhou Wenfeng was just as surprised; usually, haggling meant bringing the price down, not up.
“You can insist the drug prices not exceed your previous rates, which shows you must be a competent doctor, not one of those fame-seeking quacks only after money.
Respectable!
Since you are respectable, I must give you due credit.
My clinic will be reopening and is short-staffed.
Why not retain your medical skills and continue to benefit the people of this city?”
Qin Han was only in his twenties, but to the elder, he seemed like a saintly figure of medicine—his composure and confidence were not those of someone in their twenties.
“I, Zhang Henian, thank you for this!” the elder said, immediately bowing in respect.
Qin Han stood upright and accepted the bow, which made the girl look somewhat angry.
“Your illness was caused by self-prescribing and testing drugs, accumulating toxins over the years through the combination of various medicines, resulting in a new poison, right?” Qin Han stepped into the clinic, spoke to the elder, and then instructed the girl.
“Fetch fifty grams each of deer placenta and poria cocos, and one hundred grams each of cypress seeds, eucommia bark, and ginseng filaments… Now, go and prepare a decoction to make a medicinal bath,” he ordered.
Seeing the ingredients Qin Han listed were odd but generally known to prolong life, the elder did not understand the purpose of the last few herbs included.
However, his gaze towards Qin Han was filled with even greater respect.
The great are always first; the same is true in the art of healing!
The girl, apparently knowing it was for her grandfather’s treatment, said nothing and quickly went to prepare the base soup for the medicinal bath.
