Chapter 63 - 63 63 Seeking Favor
63: Chapter 63: Seeking Favor 63: Chapter 63: Seeking Favor “Qin Han, so you were here?” Qin Han didn’t need to raise his head to know it was Zhou Wenfeng, for in the entire Zhongzhou City, only he called Qin Han “Qin Ge (brother).”
Qin Han stood up, only to discover that with Zhou Wenfeng was a middle-aged man in a sharp and well-fitting blue suit, his square face imposing even without being angry, his eyes sizing him up.
“Qin Ge, this is my Second Uncle Zhou Ruicheng, he was abroad for business until just yesterday when he returned home.”
“Second Uncle, this is Mr.
Qin who saved Grandfather’s life, Qin Han,” Zhou Wenfeng introduced the men to each other.
Zhou Wenfeng was making the introductions.
Qin Han nodded slightly and said indifferently, “Hello.”
Zhou Ruicheng, however, did not pick up on Qin Han’s remark but frowned at Zhou Wenfeng and said, “Wen Feng, Grandfather is old, and I can’t help you with the family business for many more years; you should be focusing on the family interests instead of associating with these questionable characters all the time.”
Hearing his second uncle speak this way, Zhou Wenfeng knew trouble was brewing and hurriedly said, “Second Uncle, Mr.
Qin is a Divine Doctor, and we’ve recently started a business together.”
“Starting a company?
There are family businesses you’re not attending to, and you start your own?
Don’t be scammed without even knowing it.
How many Divine Doctors can there possibly be in this world?
Later on, we should still take Grandfather to see doctors abroad.”
As Zhou Ruicheng spoke, he gave Qin Han a sidelong glance, considering him merely a passerby who had happened to save the old man.
As for the subsequent medical services, they were nothing but street tricks, in his view.
“Some people just want to cling to our family’s coattails, seeking connections,” he dismissed.
Qin Han furrowed his brow; Zhou Ruicheng was quite outspoken in his lack of courtesy.
“Mr.
Zhou, I think you’ve misunderstood.
I’ve never had any intention of clinging to the Zhou family.
Even if I were to seek connections, I wouldn’t turn to a second-rate family of a second-rate city like Zhongzhou.”
“Furthermore, Mr.
Zhou, you need not worry that I’m after your family’s assets, for what the Zhou family owns doesn’t even catch my eye,” Qin Han said.
Having finished, Qin Han took Song Yuwei and walked away.
“You, well!
That’s some spirit!” Zhou Ruicheng couldn’t remember how many years it had been since someone dared to speak to him like that.
He wanted to scold Qin Han, but Qin Han didn’t give him the chance and had already walked away.
Zhou Wenfeng glanced at his own second uncle and then at the retreating figure of Qin Han, shaking his head helplessly.
Although the exchange between Zhou Ruicheng and Qin Han was brief, Zhou Wenfeng’s demeanor nonetheless allowed the observant ones present to catch on.
No sooner had Qin Han and Song Yuwei seated themselves in the rest area than a man approached, smiling as he extended his hand, “Hello, I am the chairman of Pengda Company, we develop real estate.
I wonder what industry the younger brother is involved in?”
“Hello.
The specific businesses of my company are managed by my wife, Song Yuwei, you might talk to her,” Qin Han said as he, too, extended his hand to the immaculately attired man for a brief handshake before quickly letting go.
The man who had treated Zhou Wenfeng, the young master of the Zhou family, with such courtesy, surely was no small figure.
Even if he could not befriend such a person, it was certainly best not to offend him.
Qin Han knew that the face he was relying on at this very moment was that of the Zhou family.
Suddenly relying on someone else’s face was quite unaccustomed to him.
Moreover, he had just scorned the idea of depending on the Zhou family to Zhou Ruicheng, yet here he was, benefiting from their prestige.
But such was the world—people were elevated by others.
Despite a slight discomfort, it was a reality Qin Han had come to accept.
“This is my business card.
I hope to collaborate with President Song in the future,” the man said with a smile.
One couldn’t expect to socialize too much at such occasions.
So-called high-society gatherings were not about reminiscing but more about expanding one’s network.
This suave individual was clearly adept at socializing, as shortly after, he was already having a delightful conversation with a middle-aged woman.
Several more people came over to converse, and Song Yuwei gained quite a few client contacts.
Seeing her busy, Qin Han decided to look around elsewhere since he wasn’t greatly interested in the company’s affairs.
These people were clearly just trying to curry his favor out of respect for the Zhou family.
Not familiar with the place and distracted by the considerable public relations around him, Qin Han inadvertently found himself in the small garden at the back of the mansion.
However, this spot suited his taste, quiet and serene.
It reminded him of the back garden at the Holy Medicine Sect’s headquarters in the capital.
“You can’t just come in here,” Qin Han was immersed in his memories when a cold voice interrupted him.
He turned his head and saw a girl standing on a path in the small garden, dressed in fitness clothes, with short hair cut to her ears.
If it weren’t for her voice, he might have even thought she was a boy.
Qin Han was sizing up the girl when she noticed his gaze lingering on her, which immediately infuriated her.
This man was truly impolite, staring but not replying.
“What are you looking at?” the girl asked, holding back her anger.
“Sorry, I just took the wrong path and ended up here by accident,” Qin Han apologized, withdrawing his gaze with a smile.
The girl became more frustrated and said, “I asked you what you’re looking at!”
Qin Han furrowed his brows.
Why did this girl speak with such explosive temper, as if he owed her money?
But he was not about to argue with a little girl, so he replied, “Nothing,” and turned to walk back the way he had come.
“Courageous enough to look, but not brave enough to admit it?” the girl’s cold voice rang out again.
“Huh?” Qin Han paused, what did she mean by courageous enough to look but not to admit?
What had he looked at?
Ignoring the girl, Qin Han headed straight forward.
He had not walked far when he heard the sound of rushing wind from behind and instinctively dodged to the side, quickly spinning around.
The girl was now standing behind him, her body poised in a kickboxing stance, seemingly having just attempted to attack him.
Qin Han was somewhat speechless.
Starting a fight without a word?
And had he even offended her?
“What do you mean by this?” Qin Han asked in a cold voice.
The girl, having missed her previous attack, tightened her left hand into a fist and rushed at Qin Han again, this time aiming fiercely at his face.
Qin Han, left with no choice, raised his hand to block the strike.
The girl felt as if her hand had struck an iron rod and realized that Qin Han was obviously trained.
Without holding back, she launched a combination of punches at him.
Qin Han was getting annoyed as well.
He was usually calm, but even a clay Buddha has some temper, right?
Being attacked out of the blue multiple times would make anyone angry.
He only stepped back once, dodging the girl’s attacks with his upper body and seizing the opportunity when she attempted another kick to his head.
He slapped his palm on the root of her lifting thigh, pushing the thigh to one side.
Although Qin Han’s palm hit the outer side of the girl’s thigh near the hip, to her, it seemed like he aimed for her buttocks, and she yelled out.
“What a scoundrel!”
“Who are you calling a scoundrel?” Qin Han dodged her attacks and leaped out of her striking range.
The girl didn’t respond, and from somewhere she produced a dagger, not saying a word before stabbing at Qin Han.
Damn!
What kind of situation is this?
Even Qin Han, who was usually unflappable, couldn’t help but swear.
His movements grew a bit more forceful.
Seizing an opportunity, he snatched the dagger and landed a punch in the girl’s abdomen.
The girl staggered back several steps from the punch and coldly watched Qin Han.
