Urban Soldier Young Master
Chapter 781 - 780: Chu Ge's Phone Book
The person was evidently very cautious, standing behind an Audi Q7 in the parking lot, wearing a wide-brimmed hat pulled down low, almost completely hiding his features, holding a phone to his ear.
Moreover, right after Chu Ge walked out of the photo studio with the Qin sisters, he only glanced in their direction before quickly shifting his gaze, turning his back to Chu Ge and walking away.
Had it been an average person, they wouldn't have noticed someone like that at all. Even if they had, they'd likely assume he was just someone making a phone call, not finding anything amiss.
However, Chu Ge didn't think so. From the instant that glance swept over, he was certain that person was waiting for him or for the Qin sisters to appear.
Though this judgment was more based on intuition, Chu Ge's intuition had always been accurate—it's a skill honed from long exposure to danger, sometimes even more reliable than eyes or ears.
Despite sensing this, on the surface, Chu Ge continued with his actions as usual, lazily stretching without any pause, his expression unchanged, though internally he hesitated whether to confront this stalker and ask whose spy he is and what he's planning.
Chu Ge hesitated for two seconds but ultimately gave up on the idea of confronting the person; after all, he just finished taking wedding photos with the Qin sisters, and leaving now wouldn't make much sense.
Letting the person walk away, Chu Ge cast a questioning look at Qin Ruojing, "Honey, do you want to eat at home tonight or go out?"
Before Qin Ruojing could speak, Qin Ruoying immediately chimed in, "Home, of course home. I haven't had my brother-in-law's cooking in ages; I'm almost dying to taste it."
After speaking, Qin Ruoying suddenly realized Chu Ge addressed "Honey," not her, her face slightly conflicted. She quickly turned her face away, awkwardly coughing a couple of times.
Qin Ruojing openly laughed, "You heard that? Your wife has spoken, so we're eating at home."
Hearing Qin Ruojing say that, Chu Ge knew she wanted Qin Ruoying to get used to their dynamic, yet he still felt a bit awkward, but mostly, he felt a sense of satisfaction.
Chu Ge looked at Qin Ruoying and grinned, "Alright then, we'll eat at home. Hubby will cook a great feast for you."
Faced with Chu Ge's bright smile, Qin Ruoying smiled back—a smile of recognition, a family smile.
Back in the Ferrari, the three stopped along the way to shop for food and drink, and upon returning home, Chu Ge went into the kitchen and carefully prepared a sumptuous dinner.
The dinner atmosphere was great, increasingly feeling like home. Watching Qin Ruoying gorge herself without concern for image, as if fearing someone would steal her food, Chu Ge laughed heartily, and even Qin Ruojing couldn't help but crack a smile.
While eating, Chu Ge talked to Qin Ruojing about Song Baijia, and without hesitation, Qin Ruojing readily agreed, but when Chu Ge took out his phone, intending to inform Song Baijia, Qin Ruojing shook her head at him.
Chu Ge felt confused, puzzled, as he looked at Qin Ruojing, "What's wrong? Didn't you have no objections?"
Qin Ruojing rolled her eyes at Chu Ge and reached out to take the phone from him.
"Since he's such a good friend of yours, and you call him 'bro,' I should personally talk to him. This way he won't worry whether you'll be caught between him and me, and it shows respect. He hasn't contacted me these days, suggesting his thin skin. How can you be so slow to react?"
Chu Ge then realized, sheepishly scratching his head, "As expected of a chairman; your considerations are far more thoughtful than a brute like me."
Actually, Chu Ge is quite meticulous, but male friendships are generally rough around the edges. He really hadn't thought about it so thoroughly, and hearing Qin Ruojing explain so clearly, he realized it indeed made sense.
Not only had Qin Ruojing thought of these things, but she also intended to call Song Baijia herself. Not only would this ease Song Baijia's concerns, but it would also give him plenty of face.
When Chu Ge mentioned "a brute," Qin Ruoying, who was eating heartily, suddenly choked, coughing several times, and had to take a big gulp of water before finally catching her breath.
Seeing Qin Ruoying's strong reaction, both Chu Ge and Qin Ruojing froze for a moment, but Chu Ge first realized she was likely thinking that he was actually quite meticulous. Finding it rare for him to be humble even once, she wasn't used to it.
Indeed, as Chu Ge was thinking this, he heard Qin Ruoying say, "Brother-in-law, this isn't like you at all. You actually have times when you're humble?"
Chu Ge chuckled, "Suddenly being humble, I'm really a bit unaccustomed; my apologies for the spectacle."
Qin Ruojing looked completely bewildered, "What's gotten into you two now?"
Chu Ge and Qin Ruoying coughed in unison, saying in the same breath, "Um… nothing," then both lowered their heads to eat, more in sync as they both reached for the same rib simultaneously, exchanging glances and laughing.
Qin Ruojing still didn't understand what they were laughing about, so she simply didn't bother with them, picking up Chu Ge's phone and searching for Song Baijia's number.
After unlocking the phone, she scrolled to the contacts, suddenly, the three words on the screen caught Qin Ruojing's attention, "Thermos."
Qin Ruojing sighed silently, what kind of twisted humor is this from Chu Ge? To actually give someone a nickname like "Thermos," is it a description of this person's body shape?
Thinking of this, Qin Ruojing imagined a person with a physique similar to a thermos bottle, and couldn't help but shiver.
Next, Qin Ruojing saw another two words, "Cang Hai."
Qin Ruojing's expression didn't change, but she secretly sighed. If there were no surprises, this nickname should belong to the woman Chu Ge unconsciously mentioned in his sleep talking, right?
"Seen Cang Hai, never satisfied with water; apart from Wushan, no clouds suffice." If that woman is Cang Hai, then what does she... mean to Chu Ge in his heart?
Her gaze lingered on Cang Hai for a second. Qin Ruojing continued to swipe her finger up and down the screen, and saw several names that made her eyes narrow slightly.
"Camellia Girl," "Beautiful Nurse Next Door," "Angular Momentum Zero," "So Awkward," "Tiger Girl Cop," "Clingy Little Brat"...
Chu Ge was eating his meal, but suddenly something felt wrong. However, he couldn't figure out what it was for the moment.
It wasn't until he noticed Qin Ruojing's subtle change in expression that he finally realized what was wrong, and he felt a cold sweat. He was inwardly groaning.
His contact list contained quite a few names he labeled based on personal amusement. How could he have forgotten about that?
But now the phone was in Qin Ruojing's hands. Whether it was something she should see or shouldn't, she had undoubtedly seen all of it by now.
Sneaking a glance at Qin Ruojing, although her expression was fairly calm, Chu Ge still felt uneasy, fearing she would suddenly give him a cold look and point out a nickname, demanding an explanation.
During the seemingly interminable wait, the thing Chu Ge feared never happened. Qin Ruojing did not even look at him, but found Song Baijia's number and made the call.
The phone had just rung once when a slightly accented, deep voice came through.
"Hey bro, I've been thinking about calling you. You free today?"
Qin Ruojing was slightly stunned. Why did the tone sound so full of nervousness and concern? Did Chu Ge do something worrisome again without her knowing?
As Qin Ruojing was thinking this, she heard from the other end, "Why are you silent, bro? Those South Koreans didn't really bother you, did they?"
Qin Ruojing frowned slightly, glancing sideways at Chu Ge.
Feeling Qin Ruojing's gaze, Chu Ge forced a bitter smile. If he guessed correctly, Song Baijia had probably let something slip. Otherwise, why would Qin Ruojing suddenly look at him when she hadn't before?
Sigh... It's one problem after another; looks like he'll be needing to give another explanation soon.
Qin Ruojing finally spoke, her tone gentle, "Hello, Brother Song, I'm Chu Ge's wife."
Song Baijia was stunned by these words and was speechless for a few seconds before awkwardly saying, "Oh, it's, it's my sister-in-law, no, I mean, my brother's wife. Um, I think I called the wrong number... no, I mixed it up, thought it was someone else calling me."
After Song Baijia's stuttered words, Qin Ruojing lightly chuckled, "Brother Song, I'm calling you today to formally invite you to work in our Group's catering department. When would it be convenient for you to start?"
After a few seconds, Song Baijia's voice came through again, "Uh... whenever, whenever is convenient."
"Then, Brother Song, how about this? I'm a bit busy tomorrow; I'll contact you the day after, and we can have a detailed discussion. I'll show you around our Tianjiao Group's restaurants, is that okay?"
At this point, Song Baijia held the phone in a daze, feeling extremely flattered. In his mind, someone like Qin Ruojing was an unattainable figure, and he never expected her to be so polite to him.
Once Qin Ruojing finished speaking, he quickly said, "Sure, sure, but… wouldn't that trouble you too much?"
Qin Ruojing laughed softly, "Brother Song, you're too polite. You are my husband's brother; naturally, you are also my brother. Doing something for you is only right. If you speak like this, then you're being too formal with us two."
