CHAPTER 307: 304. ATLANTIAN ARMY (3)
"Greetings, oh great chosen one." A feminine voice came from behind Jude.
He definitely recognized the voice of a person who had tried to kill him in the past.
"Hey, Rina." He turned, giving her a stiff smile. "You’re supposed to be in prison."
"And you were supposed to come by earlier." She smirked, walking past him.
Currently, they were still in the training grounds in the middle of the castle building. Zur was rallying up the soldiers to gather them for a meeting.
And he was here, chilling.
"You really know how to work your way up to power, don’t you?" Jude said, chuckling slightly.
He thought about it before — she worked for the previous king, Huran, who tried to frame and kill him. And now she was working with the new king, going as far as sleeping with him.
"I’m used to it. My mother was a soldier directly in care of the former king. So being anywhere other than the castle is uncomfortable." She explained, shrugging as if it was normal.
Even now, after the Titan Impact had swept across the entire earth and new orders were being formed, humans had yet to come up with new technologies to replace their old ones.
Everyone was just trying to survive.
Jude only let out a smile and joined Zur for the orientation.
...
Seven hours later, a hundred thousand Atlantian soldiers marched out of the castle. The people were surprised to see that many soldiers being deployed.
"Is there a war?"
"What’s going on?"
"Look! It’s Lord Jude!"
One of the men was able to spot Jude, who sat comfortably inside a small flying ship. Or submarine?
He smiled, seeing the people who loved him just for him.
"The people don’t hate you, even after you killed their former king and crowned a new one — an amazing one." Rina’s voice spoiled his entire mood.
"Hey, have you seen the sun before?" Jude asked, still looking outside with a smile.
"Yes."
"Not the one in Atlantis — the real sun, above the surface." Jude explained clearly.
Rina put a finger on her jaw, frowning.
"No."
Jude nodded, hearing her answer. He expected it somewhat.
He had his suspicions about that particular topic. The Atlantians hadn’t been to the surface world before. The warm sun hadn’t grazed their skin for a long time.
If not for the fact that they were a whole different race, Jude would’ve thought that the nagas definitely turned blue from the cold.
The army of Atlantians marched through the main streets. There were people in flying vehicles looking down at them, and he waved at them all.
He hadn’t had the time to address the people since he overthrew the previous king. Perhaps, after all this is over.
"You should’ve gone to say something to them at least." Rina chuckled.
"Rina, listen here. You’re one of the most powerful nagas I know. That’s why you’re coming with us." Jude pointed out, looking at her.
"Ah, okay? Are you going to give me a role at least?" She folded her arms, having a cheeky smile.
Jude put on a smile of his own, making her frown.
...
Jude had to say that it would only take one or two days for the migrating horde of monsters to get to the camp in Saint Petersburg.
When he met them, it was still far away, closer to America.
Zur was riding on the top of the massive kraken, moving with hundreds of vehicles carrying warriors.
They moved in the direction that Jude pointed out for them.
After traveling for several kilometers, Zur made the kraken stop. This was where they would have to slow down the monsters.
"Where did he say he was going? If he wanted a war, he should’ve come himself." The kraken’s voice echoed in Zur’s mind.
No matter how many times he experienced it, it was chilling to the bone.
The kraken was an ancient creature known in their legends and history, so being able to command the large beast was nothing short of a dream to him.
The creature could crush him with a single tentacle if it wished.
"I don’t know. But he wanted you to face off against the strongest of them." Zur turned around.
Ice began to form around his body, taking various shapes. Soon, he was covered in a full plate of ice armor, and he looked at the army, raising his trident.
There were a total of eight squadrons here. Led by the seven guardians of Atlantis, all of them were ready to battle.
The last squadron was led by Rina, who had an annoyed look on her face.
’That guyyy... He made me a squad captain instead of war general.’ She bit her nails.
She glared at the king, looking at him with sad eyes.
Zur simply looked away, ignoring her.
’He told you to not answer me too?!’ She balled her fists.
"I need to relieve some of my anger." She mumbled, turning around to see the Atlantian soldiers under her command.
Personally, she had never seen this many soldiers excited for war. They didn’t care if they died — that was their nature, the way of battle.
Zur too was in such a mood. He had yet to unleash the full strength of the trident Jude entrusted to him. He was itching to fight, to conquer.
As if answering their urges, the water suddenly rippled.
"They’re coming." The kraken’s voice echoed in all the soldiers’ minds, and they readied their cannons.
Zur pointed his trident forward. In that moment, countless dots could be spotted in the water.
"FIRE!!" Zur shouted.
Instantly, hundreds of ships released highly concentrated beams of lasers. Others shot out bullets made of strange materials. The final group of ships shot out missiles, leading forward into the tide of monsters.
The soldiers stayed on standby, waiting for the king to signal them.
Some of them, their eyes were red already — they were craving battle.
It would be torture to not let these people do what they were made for.
Zur waved his trident forward. In that moment, the soldiers shot forward in the water like torpedoes, heading towards the incoming onslaught of monsters.
The lowest amongst them were sixth class. The guardians that led them were all fifth class, and a few others were along that line of strength too.
Zur stayed back, keeping an eye out. He was wondering where the powerful abomination that Jude mentioned was.
The battle raged as the ocean trembled under the fury of Atlantis’s army. Beams tore through the water, missiles exploded like stars in the abyss, and the soldiers clashed with the monstrous horde head-on.
Rina herself wasn’t finding a trou le dealing with the smaller creatures. She felt like they were way too slow, way too weak for her level.
"Is this it?" She wondered, a long sabre appearing in her hands. With a wave of her sword, the water parted and the creatures split, dying the water red.
Zur’s grip on the trident tightened as he scanned the battlefield. His instincts screamed at him—something wasn’t right.
’Where are those damned titans?’ he wondered, looking ahead.
According to Jude, there were hundreds of titans, or at least a hundred. The creatures here were all sixth class and below.
All of a suddem, the water grew unnaturally still.
The kraken stirred uneasily beneath him.
"They are only the fodder," its voice thundered in his mind. "The true one comes."
And from the darkness of the waters, a shadow emerged. Vast. Slow. Terrifying.
Zur’s breath caught in his throat as he spotted massive silhouette cutting through the waters.
’The titans.’ He smiled, but then a frown caught his face as he noticed something behind the massive creatures.
The soldiers faltered mid-strike as a single, colossal eye opened in the depths, glowing like molten gold.
And then they all heard it—an ancient roar that shook the ocean itself.
