Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]
Chapter 329: And How Extraordinary The Choice Was
CHAPTER 329: AND HOW EXTRAORDINARY THE CHOICE WAS
[GREALOR]
"He is insane. Do you understand? That boy is fucking insane, I tell you," Aloha Ashton paced in front of the packhouse. He thought he would get back his legs only to constantly be stressed out because of a kid he had saved.
This wasn’t how fate worked and yet for Ashton, it felt a lot like karma had come knocking — which was not something that he was ready to embrace just yet.
"You are so close to going nuts, father. At least we can be sure that your legs get enough exercise at this point," Gabe laughed amusedly. He wasn’t sure what had happened but he loved the unsettled look on his father’s face.
This was golden and Gabe would give everything just to see it every single day.
His father this disturbed was a heaven that he had thought he would even look forward to and yet right now it was something that was seeing light, and one that scared the hell out of his father. This was perfection.
"You think this is a joke? Do you know what this means? The bastard ex of yours shut down all the trade routes. He closed off the free lands and made sure that there wouldn’t be anyone there.
"The rogues are coming back home; people we have never seen and learned their behaviors are coming home because Grealor is apparently the biggest wolf pack in the realm and has the ability to take them all in!" Ashton raged blindly.
Gabe just stared, unbothered. His father was being dramatic and Gabe wasn’t in the mood to deal with any of that. His father had proven time and again that he was the bastard of bastards.
The young alpha had warned him against going against the Kawai Lycan; instead of trying to foster peace, but the man had been insistent. Now they had to dance to the tune of Tamiko’s song which obviously wasn’t as warm for anyone.
This was madness and if Gabe hadn’t been betrayed by his father, maybe he would have tried to make peace for the sake of their people. But he had been betrayed. He had been locked up for days in his room because he dared to remind his father of the stakes.
At the time Gabe wasn’t expecting the sudden imposition but now he wasn’t even sure if he was to be safe for his father or happy that Tamiko was now strong enough to make declarations a rule.
"You’re the joke, father. Each time you wait and whine about what Kawai does. It’s like your group of Furfantes are only good at being delusional. All the decisions you’ve made since Tamiko left home have been influenced by whatever Kawai decides.
"At this rate, you might as well submit the forms to make us a colony of Kawai instead of always being this pathetic," Gabe said disappointedly. It was like he was seeing his father for the mess he was and it was not what he had wished for.
All his life he had been a good son and all his father had seen was someone who would never be good enough. It was never going to be enough and no matter how long this took they could either be puppets or they could fight back.
But then with the influence that lingered, it was just a matter of time before everything was down to shit. They had fucked up more than once and his father was an adamant piece of garbage that didn’t even see what was happening.
Gabe wondered if this was why he had been a part of the Furfantes.
He was truly pathetic.
"You don’t know what you’re talking about. You don’t understand a thing. So don’t you stand there and judge me for decisions you couldn’t even make for yourself," Alpha Ashton said to his son who was still unfazed.
Their world was about to be turned upside down and they didn’t even have a way out yet. But that didn’t seem to matter to the young alpha. The only thing he cared about was laughing at the mess that had presented itself as his father and boy was it insane.
"Oh yeah? Enlighten me, father. I told you not to trust Zula, yet you made me promises that even you knew you would never keep. Everyone talks about the great alpha Ashton, but none of them is able to see just how much of a coward you are.
"You are supposed to be the most powerful alpha in the entire realm and yet fear has reduced you into a midget. You are a pathetic excuse of a person and if you are going to keep wallowing about how the Lycan are besting you again, then wallow as much as you like. It’s what you’re good at anyway," Gabe said.
Ashton backhanded his son harshly on the face.
He had endured a lot of things that Gabriel had talked about, for months, he had tried to maintain a level head but each day that passed, it was getting obvious that his son would never forgive him for everything that had gone wrong because of his mate bond with Tamiko.
The alpha hadn’t played a role in the bond that the young alpha shared with the young prince, and yet Gabriel had found it so easy to blame his father. After all, someone had to be held accountable and the one with more sins than anyone could possibly count was Ashton.
He was the perfect scapegoat for his son and Gabriel didn’t seem to have any plans of stopping, if anything, all of this was not shit that he would buy into. They were family. They were supposed to be on the same page. They were supposed to be allies.
But how were they supposed to be allies when the one person who would have changed that for them had long abandoned them? It was like they were left in the shadows and Ashton was done trying to stifle whatever was left of his madness.
"Of course, you just had to hit me. But I won’t try to complain, because that is what you learn from the Furfantes. No one will save you from this, Father. You have to have known that for a while now. If you are intelligent enough, you might be saved.
"But with the way shit is going, there is no salvation for you. There never will be and you have yourself to blame for it all. Maybe the skies will open for us eventually or maybe we will be swallowed by the sins you committed while you were drunk on power in your youth.
"So much for love, right?" Gabe taunted as he held his cheek and Ashton sighed. His son was becoming a nuisance by day and he could tell that it was going to be harder to handle Gabriel. Perhaps he just had to think for the sake of the people of Grealor.
Maybe that would be the only way to convince his son that whatever the fuck he was doing was for the better Grealor, right?
"You keep forgetting that you are their alpha, Gabriel and I am just your father. If anything happens in Grealor and the people get hurt, you should know by now who would be blamed for not acting when they could, right?" Ashton taunted coldly.
He knew that this was not the right way to go about this, but he couldn’t let his son best him when he had been the superior. Maybe it was stupid of him to try and play the game of dynasty with a son who couldn’t care less about what happened.
Gabe was heartbroken and anyone with eyes could see that it was because of Tamiko.
For the longest time, he had mourned the greatest love that he had ever had and he would still mourn it for an even longer time. That was his only punishment and it hurt more than anything he had ever had to deal with. Perhaps all they needed was to restructure.
"Bold of you to assume I don’t have plans for my people, Father. You are the one who has to make a choice. You can either be part of Grealor or you can go ahead and serve your Furfantes. I won’t stop you, but I won’t let you bring war to our door either.
"Whatever you do, decide fast, because honestly, I’d rather have the rogues back home, than have you try to fuck up every chance of peace that we have. Your ambitions are clouding the mind links and your warlock is fucking lives over.
"The longer you keep at it, the more I will keep hating you. Maybe someday I might just bring you over to the Lycans and surrender you. Don’t tempt my fury, Father," Gabriel warned lightly, even though there was nothing light about his words.
He hated that he had to get this aggressive with his father, but he knew that there had to be other ways for him to get around this. He needed to embrace whatever was coming, but fuck was it a hard choice for him, because they were not up against any war Lord.
They were up against Tamiko, the Lycan who was owed a thousand lives by the wolves of Grealor for what they had dared to do to him. It was insane, but it was what had to be done. Perhaps there would be a better way around this when they were done, right?
"Protect your people then. I will be on my way to make lives worse for the Lycans. I supposed this is where we part ways, son," Ashton said and Gabe sighed.
His father was truly impossible.
"Yeah. It seems so."
