Chapter 56: Suspicious Skye
CHAPTER 56: SUSPICIOUS SKYE
"Are you one of the survivors Jacob rescued recently?" Draziel walked towards the drawer by his bedside and retrieved two glass cups and a bottle of expensive whisky.
Skye seem to have recovered fully as she stood up, her hands reaching for her pieces of her clothes which was everywhere. "Yes, I joined the team at 04:54,"
The noise of the liquid whisky rushing into a glass cup sounded as Draziel filled half the glass cup with whisky.
A slight melodious sound echoed from the glass, when Draziel’s middle finger circled around the edges of the glass cup. He then filled the other cup half way with whisky and gave it to the lady behind him.
Skye’s beautiful eyes twinkled as she grabbed the cup from Draziel, drinking it in a single gulp. Her eyelashes fluttered as she sat seductively on his bed and bit her bottom lip. "You don’t have to get me drunk to sleep with me again."
"Hmm, I know." Draziel hummed as he sipped the alcohol from his glass cup.
Skye pouted. "Am I that obvious?"
"What is your mission in coming here and how many of you are here?" The sudden question startled Skye into sobriety and her smile faded a bit, making her sit upright in the process.
"Mission? I don’t know what you are talking about." Skye scrunched up her face and gazed at Draziel it looked as though she had no idea what he was talking about.
"is that so?" Draziel poured her another glass of whiskey, but this time a full cup and he replaced his dwindling liquid within his cup also.
Skye softly stretched out her milky white looking hand and grabbed the cup of whisky, downing the entire thing down with only a slight groan escaping her lip.
She went poker-faced and stood up, adjusting her opened up shirt. "In as much as I would like to continue this, I think it’s high time I left. Thanks for the drink, and for the... " a flush crept up her neck as she seem to be remembering what happened earlier. She shook her head, took her mask along the way and swayed her hips seductively as she left.
Draziel didn’t continue his interrogation, he had gotten what he needed from her already and watched with flickering eyes as Skye exited his room. This time though, the cup Draziel had placed as a trap fell to the ground with a crash.
"Civilians don’t typically 24-hours time format, and have..." Draziel muttered, gulping down the remaining liquid of whisky in his cup.
It was currently midnight and technically morning the whole of the corporation Megatech was pitch black. Most of the survivors might be asleep by now since the lot of the entire day had been totally exhausting.
But then again, most weren’t able to sleep a wink and remained vigilant. Their minds gripped with fear and anxiety, thinking about the people that had died from the sudden attack of the Mutated Giant Pigeons and then from the ambush of the zombies in their rooms and their friends and families that had died to the nuclear explosions or succumbed to the virus spread from its aftereffect.
Draziel was within his room, searching through the closet for a decent cloth and when he found one, he immediately put it on. The arrival of Skye had peaked him and he knew there was something going on according to his intuition. Skye was just a tiny bit of it and probably here to probe.
She might think she didn’t give any details to him, but he had seen through her behavior and read her body movements.
There was a certainty that she wasn’t acting alone. But seeing as she was the only one who came to check up on him, it means they didn’t place much importance on the group and weren’t particularly here for the group but something different and also important within the company.
According to his calculations, there might be a team of thieves or killers already within Mega-tech and he was going to find out their objective.
He turned off the wall-mounted rechargeable lamp that softly lit up his room.
Outside the company, it was like a signal to any more strange and malicious creature. The others had learnt their lessons and had put it off, but even though he was aware the lighting was the main cause of the attack, he still had his switched on. It was unknown if he wanted the company to be attacked once more by those beasts or if he had actually forgotten to switch it off.
"BOOM!"
There was a sudden rumble that shook the entire Skyscraper, making it wobble slightly as the explosion occurred.
Draziel pursed his lips in silence and his thoughts raced. The sound had originated from the floor below from the distant resonation of the explosion, the happening seems to have occurred on the ground floor. This was another sign.
The door to his room closed and locked as he stepped outside his room. He met about seven survivors sleeping in the hallway with a bed they had shifted. They were afraid they would be attacked once more, making him chuckle slightly because they were right.
During a moment of crisis when you were fleeing for your life.
From the attack of a stronger beast, you found a place where about fifty chickens were being safely kept, fresh ones, you managed to escape.
Now you’re starving, wouldn’t you what to check the place once more even though there was the possibility you might die?
Meaning, that there was a huge probability they would come back to visit the company once more.
The saying ’Humans die for riches and birds die for food’ wasn’t just said on a whim. They would come back and maybe in fewer numbers at first, but it would certainly increase.
Shaking the thought out of his head,
Draziel smirked as he brought out his blades, hiding them behind him.
"Draziel, what do you think that happ—Ucck!"
Draziel’s knife stabbed right into the throat of the first individual.
