Wandering Meteor
Chapter 414 - 413: Flee to Another Place
CHAPTER 414: CHAPTER 413: FLEE TO ANOTHER PLACE
The second counterattack operation erupted fiercely.
Although the Wandering’s chain of plans was not entirely successful, at least the first step of the plan was.
The Wandering, with its three hundred avatars scattered within the Titan Civilization’s camp, destroyed over three hundred of the Titan Civilization’s Battle Stars in an instant. This allowed the combined forces of the Metal Civilization and the Wandering to surpass the Titan Civilization when launching the second counterattack.
Originally, the military strength between the Titan and Metal Civilizations was evenly matched, which was one of the reasons why Constant Star Unrivaled attempted to sow discord between the Metal Civilization and the Wandering. However, Constant Star Unrivaled did not anticipate the Wandering’s counter-espionage, suddenly destroying over three hundred of their Battle Stars.
In this war, the Metal Civilization had lost two hundred Battle Stars so far, while the Titan Civilization had lost over a thousand. It might seem like the Titan Civilization suffered more losses, but each of Metal Civilization’s Battle Stars were equipped with Level 4 Civilization technology, serving as the main force. The loss of each was a massive blow; whereas, out of the Titan Civilization’s thousand-plus lost Battle Stars, over nine hundred were auxiliary stars, which were basically Battle Stars of associated Level 3 Civilizations and had a minuscule impact on their military strength.
This time, however, was different.
The Wandering chose the main Battle Stars of the Titan Civilization as its targets for covert strikes, destroying over three hundred in a short amount of time, severely damaging the Titan Civilization’s military power, turning a slight advantage into a significant disadvantage in an instant.
Under this disparity in military strength, the direction of the war became clearer and clearer.
Especially since the Wandering performed exceptionally well in combat, using its unique Dark Gold material to withstand many low Energy Level attacks unscathed, thereby obtaining excellent opportunities to launch attacks. It destroyed enemy Battle Stars in a single move, achieving outstanding feats on the battlefield and killing numerous foes, with the aura of a war god!
Ultimately, with the combined efforts of the Metal Civilization’s Battle Stars, along with the offensive from the Wandering, they destroyed the Battle Stars of the Titan Civilization one by one, tipping the scales of victory slowly in their favor. Seeing the severe loss in strength of his forces, with the Titan Civilization now having less than twenty main Battle Stars remaining, Constant Star Unrivaled realized that with such a small force it was impossible to make a comeback against the Metal Civilization. Regret and self-loathing filled his heart. He wished he could slap himself, thinking that if he had known this would happen, he would have killed that scoundrel, the Wandering, at the first opportunity. Alas, everything was already decided, and the only option left for Constant Star Unrivaled was to retreat with endless regret and reluctance towards the Wandering.
And this officially marked the end of the war.
Under the outstanding performance of the Wandering, the Metal Civilization finally triumphantly defeated the Titan Civilization. Despite significant losses, it was far better than being annihilated, and the Wandering was hailed as the greatest hero of the battle, without any doubt.
As for the decision of the Titan Civilization to retreat, the Metal Civilization, of course, was not willing to let them go so easily. They wanted to take this perfect opportunity to completely annihilate the enemy, thus the Metal Civilization launched a final chase operation.
During this final chase battle, the Metal Civilization successively obliterated the remaining twenty Battle Stars of the Titan Civilization.
Unfortunately, due to Constant Star Unrivaled’s massive size and the terrifying nature of the Crown Hole Radiation and Gravity Black Holes he employed, which posed a significant threat to the biological civilizations’ Battle Stars, plus the desperate delaying tactics by those twenty Battle Stars in their final moments for Constant Star Unrivaled, the Metal Civilization ultimately let Constant Star Unrivaled escape. Of course, for Constant Star Unrivaled, who has always been extremely domineering, fleeing was tantamount to acting like a dog that has lost its home, a tremendous disgrace.
For the outcome, Wandering was quite satisfied.
Although they did not truly annihilate or capture Constant Star Unrivaled, the other combat forces of the Titan Civilization were virtually wiped out. Even if Constant Star Unrivaled escaped, he’d just be a figurehead without real power, unable to stir up any significant trouble.
"Members of the Metal Civilization, I’m terribly sorry that due to unforeseen circumstances, I took the liberty of acting without consulting you, giving you quite the scare. I hope you don’t take it to heart." After the conclusion of the war, Wandering finally had time to explain the previous events to the Metal Civilization.
The Metal Civilization hadn’t expected an apology from Wandering and were deeply touched, "Wandering, you don’t need to apologize, it is we who should be sorry. Even if you had truly left, we wouldn’t have blamed you. Besides, your actions weren’t wrong; without your decisive intervention, we might not have beaten the Titan Civilization. We owe you a great debt this time. Moreover, we are thrilled to stand with you again!"
"I could see the clarity in the decision I had to make at that moment, the only options were the Titan Civilization and the Metal Civilization. The Titan Civilization has never treated their allies properly, seeing them only as cannon fodder. With such practices, how could I possibly truly trust and join them? Therefore, my choice could only be one. Moreover, everyone makes mistakes, but recognizing and rectifying one’s own mistakes is the right course of action. Your attitude at that time satisfied me, so I saw no need to quibble over past errors. And I genuinely feel a considerable compatibility with the Metal Civilization, hoping that together we can create a bright future." Wandering stated.
After the war ended.
The Metal Civilization immediately began post-war tasks such as cleanup, reorganization, and recovery.
However, during the post-war recovery process, some unexpected minor incidents occurred.
First, Wandering, in conjunction with the Reform Faction, formally conducted a reform experiment on a planet, then, during the reform process, Wandering, by virtue of its stellar performance in war, seeded ideological influence among some members of the Reform Faction, prompting these members to publicly express grievances on their behalf.
They criticized the Government Faction of the Metal Civilization for resorting to extremely despicable methods to win over Wandering, which almost resulted in irreversible damage to the Metal Civilization. These statements once again stoked public animosity, coupled with the dissatisfaction accumulated when Wandering feigned defection, causing public opinion within the Metal Civilization to increasingly turn against the Government Faction.
In this context, Wandering also secretly contacted the upper echelon of the Government Faction, clarifying that such public discourse did not reflect its real thoughts, feeling like it had been exploited, just as when the Reform Faction had previously sought its knowledge on the communal system, merely attempting to use these opportunities to spread the idea of reform to the public.
Wandering also alerted the Government Faction that an agreement had already been reached, initiating a reform experiment on a planet, but members of the Reform Faction were still speaking out in such a manner, suggesting their intentions might not be pure, and urging the Government Faction to be vigilant. Wandering did not want to see a repeat of division.
Furthermore, in subsequent communications, Wandering let slip, seemingly unintentionally, a piece of information.
It found the Reform Faction’s timing for pushing for reform and the ensuing coup suspiciously coincidental, questioning how the Reform and Government Factions had only just become adversaries and the Titan Civilization had suddenly attacked. It was as if there was some prior intelligence. Moreover, in multiple negotiations afterward, the Reform Faction ignored the life-or-death situation of the Metal Civilization and refused to make concessions. If not for Wandering’s mediation, it was feared the Metal Civilization might have been defeated by the Titan Civilization, and the two sides may not have come to a consensus.
