The Singer's Hall of Borelion is the most famous music center in the Old World. It is located in a small promontory on the city's southern side and is surrounded by a beautiful garden. This circular building is entirely constructed from white stone, housing a grand auditorium with perfect acoustics. Minstrels are scheduled to perform here 24 hours a day, even if the flames of war spread, it never ceases.
The Duke himself is the greatest patron of all minstrels and singers in the entire Kingdom. He is an excellent poetry connoisseur and a guardian of music. When not at war, his greatest hobby is listening to minstrels and singers in the Singer's Hall. The Duke always greatly appreciates songs about elopement, infidelity, and scandalous stories, offering hefty rewards. Hence, rumors always circulate in the Duchy that the Duke himself longs for unfaithful love. The nobles in the territory hope this rumor isn't true and fear it coming true.
Inside the bustling Singer's Hall, a large number of nobles are watching the minstrels' performance on the stage. On the high garden terrace, the Duke's family and his clan knights gather together, watching the spectacular opera.
Theodoric, with rugged features and greying temples, has a scruffy, grey beard. He grips the railing, loudly cheering, as the minstrel on stage sings a tale of a Countess and a Duke's illegitimate son's elopement. The boldness and scandalous content of the story make many of the Duchy's noble knights secretly uneasy. However, seeing the Duke himself so happy, they couldn't say anything but accompany him with smiles.
Behind the white stone railing, Theodoric's granddaughter Fiona said to the young knight Mathew Bade, "Mathew Bade, you're really lucky to witness this kind of performance as soon as you arrive in Borelion."
"Yes, yes, isn't this all thanks to Miss Fiona's grace?" Mathew Bade, understanding, complimented her. The young knight stood behind Fiona like an attendant, his hands hanging respectfully.
The Duke's granddaughter felt very proud, thinking that even a Legendary Tier knight like Mathew Bade was nothing in front of her, wasn't he respectful in front of this lady?
Fiona thought it right to give Mathew Bade a little taste of sweetness. The girl also felt quite fond of the handsome young knight, so she continued, "After the concert, if I'm in a good mood, I might introduce you to my grandfather."
"Oh! Yes, yes, yes!" Mathew Bade seemed very happy, bowing even lower.
The minstrel's song wasn't over yet when a guard quickly came to Duke Theodoric of Borelion's side: "My Duke, Her Highness Mogiana has arrived."
Theodoric's smile froze, his expression turning serious: "Where is she?"
"She's already on her way in, she'll be here in two minutes at most," the attendant whispered.
Theodoric nodded to signal him to leave, knowing clearly what Mogiana came for. So, the Duke signaled all the knights to get ready to welcome the arrival of the Lake God Witch: "Everyone, attention, Her Highness Mogiana is here."
On the garden terrace, all the nobles stood ready, waiting for Mogiana's arrival.
Mogiana, with a rune sword hanging at her waist and holding the Potion Chalice, walked in, her head held high. Unlike usual, Mogiana did not use mana to float in the air, but strode in wearing white short boots. The nobles were stunned by Mogiana's beauty and fierce temperament, greeting her one after another.
Mogiana didn't pay attention and stepped to the Duke's side, whispering. Evidently, the Lake God Witch was quite dismissive of the provocative and indulgent songs in the Singer's Hall, not wanting to stay long.
"I understand, I understand, Her Highness Mogiana, Borelion just went through a war, the overdue taxes will be sent to the Cathedral in Kakasong soon," Theodoric repeatedly agreed.
Mogiana nodded, thinking that her mission in the Borelion Duchy was satisfactorily completed. She glanced at the brightly lit Singer's Hall and the endlessly singing minstrels, intending to leave.
Just then, a blood-covered attendant rushed in from outside, clutching his chest. The armor on his chest had a huge hole, exposing white bones and internal organs: "Your... Your Grace the Duke."
"Ahhhhh!" The sudden appearance of this attendant immediately brought panic among the nobles, with noble ladies screaming and lifting their skirts, while noble knights gripped their longswords at their waists: "What's happening?"
"It's... it's vampires!! It's the Vampire Count's army, many undead, hordes of ghouls, zombies, and vampire beasts appeared out of nowhere. They're attacking the city!" The attendant knelt to the ground, covering his chest, completely disregarding the blood covering his body, repeatedly saying, "They're heading this way, my Duke!"
"What?!" The faces of Theodoric and Mogiana changed dramatically, and the Duke rushed to one side of the garden terrace.
The entire city was weeping, houses billowing with thick smoke. Ghouls, zombies, and vampire beasts ravaged the prosperous streets. Although these monsters were not many, the commoners in the city were powerless to resist and met with slaughter. Cries, roars, and calls for help echoed throughout the city.
