What is an immortal?
Chapter 66 - 46 Drilling Holes
Kun Tu, perplexed and not daring to rashly resist, could only leap aside, coming to Yang Chan's side.
The white figure crashed onto the bed frame, directly collapsing it before twisting its head to face Ba Da, who was closest, and opened its massive, bloody mouth to let out a savage roar.
"Roar…"
Ba Da's pupils dilated instantly; upon seeing the vague outline of the figure, covered in snow-white long hair, looking neither human nor beast with indistinct facial features.
"A Human Demon, it's a Human Demon…" His cry of terror came immediately.
Before his voice had even fallen, he hurriedly ran out from beside Kun Tu and Yang Chan.
Yang Chan hadn't felt very scared initially, but seeing him flee like that suddenly spurred her own desire to retreat. However, before she could make her move, Kun Tu grabbed her arm.
"What are you afraid of? Don't forget what we came here to do," Kun Tu roared at her.
Only then did Yang Chan remember that they came expressly to find and slay the Human Demon.
"Hmph, it's all that coward Ba Da's fault, making me jump too," Yang Chan spat a curse, steadying her mind.
Yuan Ming, who had transformed into a White Ape using the Fur Cloak Technique, sighed inwardly upon seeing they were not scared off but showed no sign of backing down as he leaped forward, fists clenched into hammers slamming towards the ground.
A loud "bang" sounded.
The temple floor shook violently, and the ground beneath the feet of Yang Chan and Kun Tu instantly cracked, sending up countless fragments.
A damaged stone pillar near the two developed larger cracks and burst apart with a "bang," bringing down half of the roof with it, as a multitude of tiles and dust poured down.
Yang Chan and Kun Tu quickly dodged backward, eventually exiting the temple.
From within the smoke and dust, Yuan Ming picked up the prostrate Chen Wan and hastily readjusted her clothing before leaping toward the space above the rooftop.
That punch was not due to his sheer strength capable of bursting half the temple but was the result of using the Wood Stabbing Technique in combination with hitting the already rotting Stone Pillar to create this daunting spectacle.
Seeing an opportunity to escape, Yuan Ming did not dare to delay.
No sooner had he burst through the rooftop, feeling the touch of rain upon him, than he suddenly sensed a shadow overhead blocking the falling rain.
Looking up, Yuan Ming saw a pair of eerie green "lanterns" light up against the night sky. Around that dim green glow appeared several diamond-shaped dark red scales.
Before he could get a clear look, a hissing noise approached rapidly, and the shadow descended quickly, revealing a huge python head, its maw gaping wide as it bit down towards Yuan Ming.
"Yang Chan's spirit beast," Yuan Ming paused, sending a punch toward the space above.
A dull "bang" echoed as the large Fire Python's head retracted from the impact, and Yuan Ming's figure fell from the sky.
The moment the two hit the ground, from amidst the curtain of rain outside, Ba Da's shouting voice could be heard from afar, "Captain Kun Tu, Wu Bao is dead, and the Beast Slave Yuan Ming has disappeared!"
Hearing this, Kun Tu immediately came to his senses.
"We've been tricked, that's not a Human Demon inside, it's that Fur Beast Slave." He roared angrily and immediately slapped the Spiritual Beast Bag at his waist.
A streak of blue light shot out, and a massive Green Wolf Spirit Beast two zhang in length appeared.
Without Kun Tu's command, the wolf's bristles at its neck stood on end, its muscles tensed, and a pair of dark red eyes gleamed as it opened its mouth toward the already dilapidated temple and let out an earth-shattering roar.
"Roar…"
Accompanied by the roar, a tempest gushed from the Green Wolf's mouth, countless Wind Blades tinged with a blue glow shredding the rain, forming visible cyclones that slammed into the temple.
With a thunderous rumble, debris and tiles flew in all directions, striking inside the temple.
Feeling that fierce force, Yuan Ming had no choice but to dodge quickly, heading toward the side of the bizarre Divine Statue.
The fierce Wind Blades swept through, striking the still-standing rear wall and opening a large gash in the crumbling stone wall.
Yuan Ming looked back at the gash in the wall, ready to escape, when he noticed two green glows already rushing toward him from the darkness outside.
Since there was no Human Demon inside but only a Fur Beast Slave, Ba Da summoned his own spirit beast without any fear.
The black wild boar, its hair bristling and coated in a dark light, charged furiously toward Yuan Ming with a thunderous gallop, its two sharp tusks gleaming faintly as if coated with poison.
Seeing this, Yuan Ming's palm suddenly hit the ground, mana from his Dantian surged, pouring down toward the earth.
The Wood Stabbing Technique was immediately activated.
Just in front of him, two zhang away, the earth and rocks burst as three Wooden Thorns as thick as bull legs emerged at an angle, skewering up from the ground like stakes against the charging black boar.
With a "bang," the black boar slammed into the stout Wooden Thorns, a spray of blood erupting from it as it also shattered the thorns completely, dispersing them.
Yet its speed was only slightly reduced, and it still charged forward.
Yuan Ming felt a sinking feeling in his heart and quickly rolled to the side to dodge.
The spirit beasts of these Registered Disciples seemed to be similar to the Fierce Beasts he usually hunted, but their actual combat power was worlds apart, and they were not something he could easily handle.
Not to mention their masters, each of whom was a bona fide disciple of Biluo Cave, capable of learning various secret skills and techniques of the sect.
Yuan Ming suddenly felt a pang of regret in his heart, realizing that he should not have acted impulsively, leading himself to the brink of a desperate situation; he should at least have waited for a more suitable opportunity.
With a "bang" sound, Lovethisstory?Showsupportat*.
the rampaging black-furred boar slammed into the strangely shaped fierce god statue, causing it to crumble into pieces, even the base of the statue was thrown into the air.
The fierce impact made the black-furred boar somewhat dizzy, and after shaking its head to get its bearings, it charged toward Yuan Ming again.
The red Fire Python above him also opened its bloody maw, swooping down towards him.
Surrounded, Yuan Ming's eyes darted around, looking for a way out when he suddenly noticed that beneath the collapsed statue, a dark hole had appeared.
His mind raced, and he made a swift decision.
He dispelled the Fur Cloak Technique and, cradling Chen Wan in his arms, charged forward, avoiding the Fire Python's assault and heading straight towards the black-furred boar.
Just as they were about to collide, his body suddenly ducked low, sliding beneath the boar taking advantage of its size, and found himself beside the hole.
Yuan Ming peered into the hole, only to see pitch darkness inside, from which cold wind blew out, making it impossible to see how deep it was.
"Beast Slave, why not surrender?" came Kun Tu's voice at that moment.
He had rushed in with his Green Wolf Spirit Beast.
Without any time to think further, Yuan Ming scooped up Chen Wan and leaped into the hole.
After falling for three or four Zhang, he landed on a slope and began to slide rapidly downwards.
Seeing this, Kun Tu immediately gave chase and, arriving at the entrance, assessed its size before shouting to Yang Chan, "Quick! Send your Fire Python in. We must kill them today; otherwise, once we return to the sect, we're done for."
Yang Chan's expression was tense, and without wasting words, she immediately commanded the Fire Python to slither into the cave.
Unless several of them took the risk to chase personally, the only spirit beast that could enter the cave was the Fire Python.
The Fire Python dived into the cave, flicking its tongue and undulating, quickly chasing downwards.
The cave was far from smooth, with rocks jutting out everywhere; Yuan Ming bounced around, his body already covered in wounds, but he dared not slow down.
Suddenly, he heard a noise behind him and felt a sense of doom.
Then, a roar erupted behind him as the Fire Python caught up, its massive mouth opening wide and from within, a line of fire shot out, turning into a wave of flames that filled the entire cave.
Yuan Ming felt a sudden surge in temperature and, shivering with dread, immediately activated the Wood Stabbing Technique, causing three thick Wooden Thorns to rise from the ground behind him in an attempt to block the flames.
The raging fire passed through the gaps in the Wooden Thorns, furiously erupting and still scorching his back with intense Burning pain, nearly causing him to stop breathing.
"Bang"
The sound behind him was that of the Wooden Thorns being shattered, and the Fire Python relentlessly continued its pursuit, its gaping maw now just inches away.
Feeling the scorching heat from within, Yuan Ming gripped his sword tightly, readying himself for a final stand.
At that moment, he felt movement from the tender body in his arms; Chen Wan seemed to be waking up.
"Hey! If you don't want to die, think of something fast," Yuan Ming called out loudly.
Chen Wan's mind was cloudy and her eyes unfocused with bewilderment, but upon seeing what was happening behind them, her pupils constricted and she instinctively reached into her sleeve and threw something into the gaping maw of the creature behind her.
"Swoosh"
A walnut-sized metal pellet flew out, its engraved hollow Flames slightly lighting up, with tiny sparks visible inside, quickly disappearing into the mouth of the Fire Python.
The next instant, Chen Wan tucked herself into Yuan Ming's embrace.
Before Yuan Ming could react, there was a thunderous "boom" from behind.
A fierce explosion of flames erupted behind him, blowing the Fire Python's head to pieces, with the searing wave of fire impacting his back, pushing him to slide even faster downwards.
The explosion's waves surged furiously up and down the cave, the powerful shockwave causing incessant collapses; the cave crumbled in moments.
Rocks and soil fell, sealing the cave as debris turned into a roaring torrent chasing down Yuan Ming and Chen Wan.
The mighty shockwave mixed with the roaring explosion, resonating powerfully in the confined space. The force that struck Yuan Ming made his Sea of Consciousness tremble, and everything went dark as he passed out.
Chen Wan, in his arms, fared no better, also losing consciousness amid the tumultuous turmoil...
