What's Wrong With Being An Omega Nanny?
Chapter 84: Why Are They Here?
CHAPTER 84: WHY ARE THEY HERE?
Ever since Nathan and Viktor knew each other. Nathan knew Viktor wasn’t the friendly type. He could be nice, but he isn’t one to rely on friends. Their chat was always short. Even if Nathan sends loads of texts, Viktor would reply with a short okay or something to show that he’s not interested.
Nathan had expected the same thing when he sent that message to Viktor. He thought Viktor would reply with a ’Good for you’ or ’I see’.
But instead, he sent more than three texts at the same time. Nathan blinked repeatedly and wiped his eyes to see if the message was really from Viktor and indeed it was from him.
"Let me read what he sent,"
V: Did you sleep with your saviour on the same bed when you were injured?
V: Did he touch you? Where?
V: Do you know his secondary gender?
V:Reply quickly you asshole!
Nathan was surprised that he wanted to cry. He immediately replied to the text.
N: He slept on the couch and gave me his bed since I was injured. Isn’t he so nice? But, touch me? How? He only treated my wound and did the suture. He’s an omega. I just told you! We were supposed to do the matching test together! If I hadn’t escaped from the hospital earlier today, I would have been with my saviour. We could have... gotten married already. (Laughing emoji! Crying emoji!)
N:By the way, why are you asking?
Nathan flexed his thumb and placed his phone down. He waited for Viktor’s response again and picked a bottle of beer.
.
Viktor had seen Nathan’s response. He was glad to hear that they didn’t sleep on the same bed, but Elias touched him to stitch him up. He didn’t like that. He gets that Elias was doing his job of helping him, but he just didn’t like it.
He scanned through the remaining message till he saw ’married’.
He almost threw his phone away. But, he held it back. His anger. Not the phone.
"Married? You and... Elias? Get married?" He laughed at himself for saying those words. "Nathan, you can never be with Elias," he said to himself. When he saw Nathan’s last message that asked why he was asking, he ignored it and placed his phone on the table.
Elias and Nathan failed to meet and take the test today. That means, they could meet again, and if the test result is high, they could get married, according to what Nathan said.
"What exactly can I do to make sure they don’t get married? I must speak to Elias once I meet him next week, but what if it’s too late? Shit!"
He angrily banged his hand on the table.
.
In the Voss house, Elias and Lila alighted from the cab and paid for the ride. He had to pay a lot for the ride to Drago’s house first. He walked his sister into the house and Ethan was with Leo. They were arguing about something related to a party but Ethan looked uninterested. Leo seemed to be the one speaking.
"You’re here, grumpy old man," Lila said. Elias gently slapped his hand over her mouth and faked a laugh.
"Haha! We’re sorry. Please, continue," Elias said and was walking Lila back to her room but Ethan stopped them. Even Leo was wondering what was going on. He knew that the little girl was the one who had been unconscious, but it was his first time seeing his brother like this. The little girl called him a grumpy old man, but he didn’t do anything.
"Hold on," he said and stood up. He walked towards Elias who kept apologising again and again because of what his sister said.
"That’s enough. I didn’t stop you because of your sister," he said and looked at him. "She can’t stay in that open room anymore since she’s fine. I guess the report came out well,"
Elias nodded.
"Yes, she’s fine. She just needs to eat well and exercise a little,"
"That’s great. I already told the maid to clean a room for her. She can move in there. Tomorrow, I’ll arrange for some dresses for her and later, we’ll talk about school,"
Leo froze when he heard that. He didn’t understand why Ethan was acting like a father, no, like an old man all of a sudden.
"I can go to school?" Lila asked, clasping her hands together.
"Yes, Lila! You can go to school," he replied with a smile, as he ruffled her hair.
"Thank you, sir... But, I was thinking of... leaving already. I mean, the Voss family has done enough for me and I don’t want to be a burden," Elias said.
"Leaving already? Are you saying you used us and after finally getting what you wanted, you’re... Leaving?" Leo walked towards Elias and folded his hands as annoyance filled his face.
"No... That’s not what I mean," Elias said and paused. He just didn’t know how to explain. "Even if my sister hadn’t woken up, I was already thinking of leaving. This... This is not my family and I have to do so much for my sister,"
"That’s why I’m telling you I’ll help," Ethan spoke but Elias shook his head. He secretly bit the inside of his mouth as he scratched his head.
’I knew this would be hard. What can I tell them that they’ll allow me to leave?’
"You can’t speak again, pretty boy? Cat got your tongue?" Leo asked with a smirk and Ethan shot him a glare.
"Brother? Why can’t we stay here? I told you I don’t want to go back to that house. Mother and Father aren’t there anymore..." Lila tugged his shirt gently.
Elias sighed heavily.
"Then, we’ll find another house. How’s that?"
"But..." She wanted to ask but another voice overshadowed hers.
"But would you be able to cater for her?" Mrs Voss walked down the stairs, dressed in an evening gown. It was obvious she was going to an event. "It was difficult to take care of yourself when she was still unconscious but now that she’s awake. You would have to take care of two people. Wouldn’t it be difficult?"
"Ma’am..." Elias’s voice cracked as he spoke. He was already overpowered. No one would listen to what he says no matter what. Even his sister wasn’t supporting him. Who would want to go back to a normal life when the Voss is supporting him?
Even Elias wouldn’t want to go back, but he has to because he feels like he’s a burden to them. Even if they don’t feel affected by his presence, it’s different from him. He’s also a man who needs to prepare his own life himself, not with someone’s help.
As if they read his mind, Ethan spoke again.
"If you feel like you’re a burden, then let me take care of Lila. I can arrange for a separate apartment close to college, so it would be easy for you, and also, there should be a school around for her. Think of it as sponsorship," Ethan said and Elias’s eyes widened when he heard that.
He preferred that. If they were going to help, they could help from afar.
"Are you really going to do that? Why?" He asked.
"Don’t get me wrong. It’s because I care about Lila," he said, patting her head again.
"Even if she calls you a grumpy old man?"
"Shut up, Leo," Ethan frowned at his brother and looked at Elias again. "Tell me your response,"
"Can you give me some time to think about it?" He asked and Ethan nodded.
"Sure. Take your time,"
Elias smiled and held his sister’s hand.
"Also, my sister will stay with me instead of the guest room."
Before Ethan could speak, they both left. Mrs Voss watched as both of them disappeared until she walked towards Ethan.
"It seems to me that you’ve gone insane, Ethan," she said.
Leo, who wasn’t expecting a second drama tilted his head, wondering why his mother said that to her favourite first son.
"Is there anything wrong with what I suggested?"
"I told you already to make sure Elias remains in this house, but you’re going against my words," she frowned.
Ethan walked away from his mother and slipped his hands into both pockets.
"That’s what you want but that’s not what Elias wants. He might look like he was taking advantage of us, and now, he wants to leave, but remember that he didn’t ask any of us to take care of his sister or give him whatever. Hold on, did we even give him anything apart from a place to stay and food? No, we didn’t. So, why are you expecting more from him, mother? He’s not your son," Ethan said.
"Wow! I’ve never seen you speak this much brother," Leo clapped his hands slowly.
"Shut up Leo. Don’t you have a shoot?" He asked.
Leo shrugged.
"Nah! I don’t!"
"I hope you don’t regret this, Ethan. Do you have any idea what you just missed? Elias is a..." She was interrupted when the doorbell rang. Leo stood up and walked towards it without waiting for the butler. Immediately, two men and a couple of guards behind them stepped in as he opened the door.
Mrs Voss was the first to see them. She noticed Dr Patel first before the president.
"No way... Why are they here?" She murmured and slowly looked up their stairs. "Are they here for... Elias?"
Her voice was low but Ethan heard everything she whispered.
