CHAPTER 408: CHAPTER 187: SPIRIT-EATING TREE_2

In the sky, Frenzied Beasts with wings on their backs flew towards them, but luckily their levels were low, and Demigod Shana swiftly dealt with them one by one.

The Frenzied Beasts rushing up from the mountain base grew more numerous, like zombies besieging a city, relentlessly charging upwards, and for every beast that fell, more would trample over its corpse, advancing further.

With a single Blood Light Slash, the Jedi Knight was able to slay several Frenzied Beasts.

At this moment, the advantage of the Black Death Demon King became apparent, as fifty radiant henchmen formed a battle array, guarding the mountaintop, forcibly holding the beasts at bay below.

"You sly boy, possessing so many Top-Grade Demon Spirits, who exactly are you?" asked Tree Face, observing the three Demon Spirits unleash their power in astonishment.

Li Xiu didn’t respond, seizing the opportunity to collect the Demon Cores and other items scattered around.

He picked only the quality Demon Cores and tossed them to the Jedi Knight and Demigod Shana, encouraging them to continuously consume the cores.

Suddenly, blue Light Flames ignited on Demigod Shana’s body; after consuming a few high-quality Demon Cores, he finally ascended to level C.

While ascending, Demigod Shana continued to battle fiercely, neither his gun nor broadsword ever pausing.

Once his ascension was complete, the power of his bullets increased, and the sword light from his broadsword became even more intense, capable of extending over three meters in length when fully concentrated.

Li Xiu sensed Demigod Shana’s information; upon ascending to level C, he awakened a Talent Skill called "Half-Heaven Demon."

Demigod Shana’s skills were always enigmatic; previously, the Devouring God’s skill had left everyone confused about its purpose.

Devouring God was neither an active skill like Blood Light Slash nor a passive one like Desperate Realm; Demigod Shana had never seemed to use it.

Now, he awakened a Talent Skill named "Half-Heaven Demon," yet he was obviously a Demigod, so why did the skill include the word "Demon"?

"Could it be that Demigod Shana has only a half-god, half-demon bloodline? If so, it should be called Half-Demon; what does Half-Heaven Demon imply, half god and half demon each day?" Li Xiu still couldn’t figure out what this Half-Heaven Demon Talent Skill was meant for.

While Li Xiu was puzzled, there was a change with Demigod Shana.

An A-level shining winged Frenzied Beast swooped down from the sky, and Demigod Shana fired a bullet, hitting the beast’s chest.

There was a two-level difference between level C and A, and although Demigod Shana had quality on his side, his bullet shouldn’t have been able to pierce the body of an A-level shining winged Frenzied Beast.

Yet, this bullet penetrated the winged beast’s chest and vanished.

The next second, blue Light Flames ignited within the beast’s body, instantly engulfing it entirely.

The winged Frenzied Beast screamed, falling to the ground in agony, and soon the blue flames consumed it to ash, leaving only a Demon Core behind.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Any Frenzied Beast hit by Demigod Shana’s bullets or sword light would immediately ignite with blue Light Flames, and even if only slightly injured, the flames would rapidly spread across their body, and soon they would be reduced to ashes.

"Is Half-Heaven Demon a burning skill?" Li Xiu was slightly amazed.

Though this ability seemed unremarkable, its effectiveness was extremely useful; one couldn’t fight Demigod Shana and sustain injuries without equating them to death.

Li Xiu soon realized this wasn’t the skill effect of Half-Heaven Demon; Demigod Shana’s normal attacks inherently carried this burning effect.

The actual Half-Heaven Demon skill hadn’t been activated, surprising Li Xiu even more.

"This burning capability is basically a skill; how fortunate to have such a boon." Li Xiu opted against forcing Demigod Shana to use Half-Heaven Demon, since the exact nature of the skill remained unknown, and if it required time to recharge, it might be unavailable when genuinely needed.

The number of Frenzied Beasts attracted by the Spirit-Eating Tree remained uncertain, so it wasn’t yet time to exert full effort.

The multitude of beasts couldn’t break the mountaintop’s defenses, and seeing that the Jedi Knight and others still had strength left, Li Xiu redirected his attention to examining the Spirit-Eating Tree and the vase bearing Blood Bamboo.

The Vase Monster claimed his consciousness had merged with the Spirit-Eating Tree, rendering his physical body useless.

Yet, this statement seemed odd; if his physical form was truly unnecessary, why hadn’t he fully integrated his consciousness into the Spirit-Eating Tree?

Perhaps he was wary of his consciousness being too strong, wanting to disperse some of it. This, however, seemed illogical.

The only reasonable explanation could be that the Vase Monster lacked the ability to entirely transfer his consciousness into the Spirit-Eating Tree, or he dreaded doing so.

The reasons likely involved the Spirit-Eating Tree or the vase and the Blood Bamboo within it.

Previously, Li Xiu attempted but struggled to destroy the Spirit-Eating Tree, so now he focused on the Blood Bamboo inside the vase.

Li Xiu wielded the Fire Lotus Sword, approaching the vase’s opening, relieved that the vase interior was spotless. He pressed one hand against the opening and used the sword in the other hand to jab inside, trying to sever the Blood Bamboo.

He stabbed repeatedly, causing clanging noises as the blade struck Blood Bamboo, yet it failed to leave any marks on the bamboo.
