Tang Yanqi smiled and bent down to get into the car.

She hesitated, wondering whether to ask Lu Qilin about his current situation, but she wasn’t someone who liked to meddle, and it didn’t seem like a good time to ask.

Instead, Lu Qilin was the first to speak: "Ran into Bai Bing yesterday. She mentioned that they benefited from you, so they got internships at Shengshi Group. How is it? Was work going well?"

"It’s alright. How about you, senior?"

Lu Qilin was driving and smiled: "Something happened recently, still dealing with it."

"Is it... something bad?"

Considered a legendary senior, Lu Qilin was undoubtedly a smart person. From Tang Yanqi’s words, he picked up on some hints, knowing she might have heard something from Bai Bing.

Lu Qilin didn’t hide: "Yeah, a work oversight, temporarily ended up on the industry blacklist."

"Industry blacklist?"

Tang Yanqi was stunned for a moment; this wasn’t a trivial matter, especially for someone like Lu Qilin. That was equivalent to cutting off his future—a major life issue.

Lu Qilin spoke calmly, with a carefree smile: "Don’t worry, I can handle it."

"Is there... anything I can do to help you?"

Lu Qilin’s smile froze for a moment. Taking advantage of the red light, he turned aside to look at Tang Yanqi: "Yanqi, although I’m not as capable as Sheng Jianan, I’m not someone anyone can step on."

Lu Qilin’s gaze was steady; Tang Yanqi knew he misunderstood her, thinking she wanted to use Sheng Jianan’s power to help him. Tang Yanqi didn’t bother to explain further, simply smiled and nodded: "Alright, senior, hang in there."

Back at Lake Bay Villa, Lu Qilin didn’t drive the car into the neighborhood but stopped at the entrance.

"Thanks, senior. Be careful on your way back."

Tang Yanqi opened the door to get out, but Lu Qilin called out to her: "Yanqi."

Lu Qilin got out of the car and came over in front of Tang Yanqi: "I need to leave B City for a while and may not be back for a long time. When you’re free, bring your roommates, and let’s have a meal together as a send-off, okay?"

"Okay."

Tang Yanqi agreed promptly. Regardless of everything, they’re still friends. Lu Qilin smiled warmly and patted Tang Yanqi’s shoulder: "I’ll get in touch with you. Go inside; it’s cold out."

"Goodbye, senior."

Tang Yanqi turned and took a couple of steps when suddenly a car appeared out of nowhere, screeched to a halt right in front of her, and out came a person from the driver’s seat.

Lu Qilin hadn’t yet returned to his car, so the three of them stood at the entrance of the community.

Sheng Jianan strode up to Tang Yanqi, wrapped an arm around her waist, and smiled. But his words were aimed at Lu Qilin: "Mr. Lu, what a coincidence."

In the cold night wind, a sour atmosphere pervaded. Tang Yanqi quickly explained, "Worked overtime today, ran into senior, and he gave me a ride back."

Sheng Jianan gave Tang Yanqi a tender smile, yet it made her feel uneasy: "Is that so? Then thank Mr. Lu for taking the trouble to bring my wife back amid his busy schedule."

Lu Qilin’s gaze swept over Sheng Jianan’s hand around Tang Yanqi’s waist, and he pulled a smile: "Mr. Sheng, you’re very kind. Yanqi and I are old friends; it’s the least I can do."

"Take care, won’t see you off."

Out of politeness, Tang Yanqi kept watching until Lu Qilin’s car drove away. Suddenly, she felt a pinch on her waist: "Still looking?"
