CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 99: FLIRTING AT EVERY TURN (PART 9)
"She" is quiet, Tang Yanqi is calm and collected, "she" is understanding, Tang Yanqi doesn’t cause trouble, "she" is naturally straightforward, Tang Yanqi is simple and elegant.
Sheng Jianan doesn’t consider himself as someone who would see Tang Yanqi as "her," but he has to admit, the qualities in Tang Yanqi don’t repel him. Coupled with his pride as someone favored by fate, he wants to tear apart this woman’s calm facade, which leads to his repeated instinctive actions.
After realizing this, Sheng Jianan felt much clearer, and the discomfort in his heart finally eased. Sheng Jianan’s drowsiness finally came over him, he turned over and fell asleep.
Because he slept late, Sheng Jianan woke up later than usual. When he opened his eyes, Tang Yanqi’s figure was already gone, and the place where she slept was tidied up so neatly that it didn’t look like anyone had ever lain there.
Sheng Jianan finished washing up and went downstairs. Before he reached the bottom, he heard Tang Yanqi’s voice: "Mrs. Zhang, your culinary skills are truly amazing."
"That’s because Young Madam isn’t picky."
Tang Yanqi was sitting at the dining table, sunlight from outside shining on her face, paired with a genuine unpretentious smile. Sheng Jianan’s heart involuntarily skipped a beat.
"Good morning, Young Master!"
Mrs. Zhang, sharp-eyed, noticed Sheng Jianan and spoke respectfully to greet him. Tang Yanqi also quickly turned around, her smile fading: "Sheng..."
Tang Yanqi habitually wanted to call "Mr. Sheng," but thankfully she reacted quickly, immediately changing her tone: "Sheng Jianan, who said yesterday they’d wake up earlier than me?"
Addressing each other by name as a newlywed couple might seem less intimate, but Tang Yanqi’s playful tone made it not only unawkward but more like the banter between a loving couple.
Sheng Jianan evidently got Tang Yanqi’s hint and responded fittingly: "Who’s to blame?"
Arrogant eyebrows raised, eyes and mouth corners carried a mischievous smile, making Sheng Jianan’s whole face appear somewhat wicked, ambiguous feelings explicitly expressed.
Tang Yanqi clearly didn’t expect this kind of response, felt troubled, turned red involuntarily, awkwardly turned her head: "Mrs. Zhang’s porridge is very tasty, you should try it."
Awkwardly changing the topic, Tang Yanqi lowered her head and stopped looking at Sheng Jianan.
She still had lessons today, and Sheng Jianan needed to go to the company. The two of them had breakfast and went out together. After Mrs. Zhang saw them off, she called Mr. Sheng to report: "Sir, the Young Master and Young Madam are doing well."
On the other side, Sheng Jianan’s car was leaving the neighborhood. Tang Yanqi saw the bus stop from a distance. Although Sheng Jianan’s attitude towards her wasn’t that hostile last night, it was probably just because Mrs. Zhang was there. Tang Yanqi clearly understands Sheng Jianan and Mr. Sheng’s relationship. For the sake of his grandfather, Sheng Jianan would act in any kind of play. He once won an award for a supporting role, not even formally trained, which shows his exceptional acting skills.
Tang Yanqi felt she should be prudent, and shouldn’t take everything at face value just because someone is acting.
Cars travel much faster than people walk, and the car was soon approaching. Tang Yanqi calmly spoke: "Mr. Sheng, please stop here, if you don’t mind."
Sheng Jianan initially thought Tang Yanqi had something to do and really started to slow down. But when he realized Tang Yanqi’s gaze was fixed on the bus stop, Sheng Jianan’s entire face turned gloomy.
