CHAPTER 21: CHAPTER 21: SOMEONE IS DELIBERATELY PICKING A FIGHT

"Alright, I’ll listen to you." The old man was particularly happy, "You’re such a good child, you really care about Adrian and understand how busy he is."

The girl smiled sheepishly and told her grandfather to take care of his health, promising that she and Adrian would come visit him when they had time.

The grandfather also expressed his concern for her a few times, and then ended the call.

"Getting caught taking personal calls during work hours by Director Jennings will result in a pay cut."

Faye Turner raised her gaze at the sound, and saw a guy with a head of yellow curls and a nose ring, holding a coffee cup heading her way. He was tall and skinny, "Hello, I’m Jack, your colleague."

Faye knew he was from the big office, his appearance was quite striking, but wasn’t he called Victor Peterson? She had just looked at the info, complete with a photo.

Seeing the outstretched hand, she snapped back to reality and politely shook it with a smile, "Hello, I’m Faye Turner."

"Fairy tale, haha!"

Watching the guy walk away, Faye had trouble coming to her senses. Just yesterday he was leading the mocking, but today there’s no malice? And he kindly reminded her?

Returning to her workstation, a girl with long straight hair and fair skin slid her chair over and whispered gossipingly, "Faye, is it true Director Jennings won’t let you work on the ’Once in a Lifetime’ series?"

"How did you know?" Faye asked, puzzled.

The girl comforted her, "Don’t worry, there will be other series. Our design department has never been easy. When I first joined, Director Jennings wouldn’t let me join the design either, saying she was afraid my drafts would be so bad they would disgrace the judges and lower the department’s overall standards."

"She hasn’t even seen the drafts, how can she judge?" Faye was quite dissatisfied, "That’s too one-sided."

"Well, she’s the boss," the girl next door reached out her hand, "Hi, I’m Melody Sutton, let’s be friends."

"Hi, hi, I’m Faye Turner."

"Your name sounds so nice, like a fairy tale."

Faye suddenly felt that her colleagues were actually quite easy to get along with.

Indeed, with a leading company like Prestige, if they didn’t recruit competent people, and if everyone were eccentric, how could the company do well?

She could accept being mocked by everyone yesterday; after all, such things were indeed surprising, and anyone witnessing it would feel inclined to comment.

"Faye, do you know the new CEO?"

"Huh?" She shook her head with a smile, "No, I don’t."

"Oh." The other person nodded and didn’t ask further.

In the afternoon.

Nancy Jennings assigned tasks to Faye yet again, and she diligently and efficiently helped Director Jennings complete them, solely to earn the opportunity to join the ’Once in a Lifetime’ series design.

Just when she walked out of the office carrying a pile of files, Faye ran into the CEO’s secretary, Ivy Jennings, coming towards her.

The girl halted, and Ivy also stopped gracefully, their eyes met; both were quite young.

But Ivy carried a certain aura, her gaze sharp with a hint of coldness.

And her custom-fitted, sleek professional attire made her particularly efficient-looking.

The sleek legs revealed under her pencil skirt added a touch of sexiness amidst her competence.

Faye collected herself, clutching her files and prepared to walk past her.

But Ivy stepped sideways, blocking her path, and introduced herself coldly, "I’m the CEO’s personal secretary, I’m Ivy Jennings, and since I know the CEO well, I kindly reminded you yesterday."

"Thank you for the reminder, Secretary Jennings." Faye smiled, then stepped aside to leave.

Ivy blocked her path again, "Miss Turner, are you very dissatisfied?" Her gaze shifted slightly, her cool gaze fell on Faye’s face.

Yes, she had already investigated this girl’s name and her department.

Just then, the elevator doors opened.

Adrian Lancaster had just overheard Ivy’s words. He didn’t rush out; it was a private elevator, the doors stayed open.

The man stood with hands in pockets, his deep gaze lowered.

Faye knew the other party was clearly looking for trouble, so she pursed her lips and stepped back, boldly meeting her gaze and asking softly, "You’re the CEO’s personal secretary, what’s it got to do with me?"

"..." Ivy stared at her harmless little innocent bunny demeanor, feeling very annoyed.

"Exactly how personal is it?" Faye added with a smile, directly making Ivy speechless.
