CHAPTER 56: CHAPTER 56: PRESIDENT LANCASTER IS ABOUT TO LOSE HIS TEMPER

Adrian Lancaster, hiding in the shadows, furrowed his brows, intrigued as he listened to her fabrications.

"My husband treats me very well and he’s really handsome! He has a stable and respectable job, a decent income, and he doesn’t mind my family at all. He often cares for me and handles all the housework himself!"

"Really, Dustin, thank you for your concern. I’m living happily now!" Faye Turner smiled with her eyes curved like crescent moons, "I hope you’re happy too!"

In the elevator, Adrian Lancaster heard these words and rubbed his forehead, his expression somewhat meaningful.

Dustin Shepherd heard them, a complicated expression appeared on his graceful face, and he tasted the pain of heartbreak once again.

Yet he still felt happy for her, raising the corners of his lips to offer blessings, "As long as you’re happy. If you are well, it’s a clear sky."

As footsteps were heard approaching, Dustin and Faye saw the man emerging from the elevator, hands in pockets, exuding a natural aura.

"President." Dustin greeted respectfully.

Faye was startled, worried whether Adrian Lancaster had just heard her babbling nonsense. Adrian’s gaze locked directly onto her.

"Hello, President." Quickly collecting herself, she also greeted him.

"Talking about personal matters during work hours isn’t appropriate." The man looked at the two before him, his tone not reprimanding, "Whether a marriage is good or bad, you know it yourself; whether the shoes fit or not, isn’t that something you feel personally?"

Damn, he definitely heard! He’s just like a ghost!

Faye raised her brows but wasn’t embarrassed, avoiding his gaze; praising him, so what, as long as it doesn’t involve Dustin.

Night.

Aqua Flora Residences, 28th floor, 2801.

One hour after the two returned—

"Why didn’t you make demands from me?" Adrian Lancaster’s mood was good today, yet filled with curiosity, "We signed a billion-dollar contract. If you made demands, I would’ve agreed to them."

"What are you thinking? We have joint marital property and half of it is mine!" Faye, holding a cup of warm water, leisurely leaned against the door frame, watching the man in the study, "Trying to dismiss me with just a few pennies?"

Adrian slightly lifted his chin, his eyes gazing deeply at her, "What do you want?"

"I don’t want anything!" The girl walked toward him, "You think I helped you today to negotiate conditions? I simply think the Prestige Group is outstanding."

These words surprised Adrian Lancaster, but he saw sincerity in her eyes, feeling somewhat touched deep inside.

"However, speaking of conditions, I do have one!" She suddenly shifted her tone, sipping the warm water, "I’m researching a herbal medicine for treating old burns; maybe the scar on your arm can be healed. When I develop it, just cooperate with me using the medicine."

Mentioning the burn, the man’s expression instantly turned cold, his eyes deep and unfathomable, as if he was reticent about the matter.

"You..."

"Leave." He interrupted her coldly, and when he looked up at her, his gaze had become incredibly sharp.

Faye met his gaze, feeling the surrounding atmosphere plummet, realizing she had touched his taboo and angered him.

At this point, she had arrived at the opposite side of the desk, gently placing the cup on it, sitting down in the chair, her gaze meeting his beyond the desk.

"Don’t think helping today gives you the right to pry into me." Adrian Lancaster’s voice carried no warmth, "Leave."

She didn’t rise but met his gaze bravely and unwaveringly, "We should have the courage to face our pain rather than flee from it; who doesn’t have scars in their heart?"

"You leave." He was restraining himself, not wanting to lose his temper.

He certainly didn’t want her probing his past, wrapping himself up like a hedgehog, his deep voice cold as a glacier, "Otherwise, face the consequences."
