When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 70: That Was Close
CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 70: THAT WAS CLOSE
With her shopping habits, it’s impossible for her to buy something this expensive, but for him, this amount is insignificant.
For a few seconds, Adrian Lancaster lost himself in thought about this girl in the study, so much so that he might not have even realized he was worried about her.
Could it be that she ended up in the hospital due to an accident?
But he didn’t call her. He just waited at home.
After settling his foster mother and leaving the newly rented apartment, Faye Turner was about to hail a taxi on the roadside. Meanwhile, she dialed her foster father’s phone number.
Before she could speak, Vincent Turner yelled in dissatisfaction, "You rotten girl! You still remember how to call me?!"
"Are you even human? You even took your son’s tuition fees to gamble!" She was really angry and asked him coldly.
"Are you human?!" Vincent Turner’s anger flared, and raising his voice, he cursed, "Got married and you forgot your dad! No matter what, I raised you! Even if I don’t have any achievements, I worked hard! One million is the dowry, it’s what I deserve! You owe me tribute on regular days too!"
"You’re sick! Unreasonable!" Furious, the girl hung up the phone.
At this moment, an off-road vehicle stopped right in front of her, so close it seemed like it was about to roll over Faye Turner’s toes, frightening her to instinctively take a step back.
Once standing steadily, the car window rolled down, and she met the cold and harsh black eyes of the man in the driver’s seat.
It was Brandon Lancaster!
"Sister-in-law, get in the car." The man curled his lips wickedly and said with restraint, "Let’s find a place to have a proper chat."
Faye Turner sensed something was wrong and immediately turned to run!
Brandon Lancaster reacted half a second too late, saw her fleeing, and quickly got out, slamming the car door to give chase!
Faye Turner’s acute intuition proved correct; this man intended to make a move on her!
Faye Turner had witnessed the incident at the office that day, and she knew Adrian Lancaster had fired him, leaving him with a deep resentment.
If she ended up in his hands, Faye Turner dared not imagine the consequences!
She absolutely could not cause trouble for Adrian Lancaster!
But she wasn’t very familiar with the area; she hardly had time to think and desperately ran towards the alley!
Not daring even to glance back!
Brandon Lancaster had come straight after her, having thoroughly investigated her identity, how could he possibly miss this opportunity?
"Why are you running?!" Brandon Lancaster was extremely annoyed, "Stop! I just want to talk!" The anger he suffered from Adrian Lancaster tempted him to vent it all on this woman!
But this woman was evidently no easy target.
Faye Turner ran desperately, a considerable distance away, turning her head for a moment, almost being caught by Brandon Lancaster’s outstretching hand!
The fright nearly cost her a heartbeat!
She summoned all her strength to run forward, charging wildly down the alley!
Just as her legs were weakening, having run an unknown distance, rounding a corner, panting heavily, thinking she might be done for today—
A long arm swept her up, her petite body was pulled into a nearby barbershop.
At the same moment, her mouth was covered!
Her eyes widened, and a few seconds later, she watched Brandon Lancaster chase past the glass door, quickly vanishing from sight.
The person behind her slowly released their grip and let her go.
Faye Turner turned her gaze sharply, meeting the gentle yet determined eyes of the man.
"Dustin Shepherd?" Faye Turner finally relaxed, "Why is it you?" Panting heavily, she patted her chest, surprised and delighted, quickly regaining her composure.
Looking at her panic-stricken face, Dustin Shepherd felt very sorry yet also extremely pleased to have run into her here.
He didn’t answer her question, their gazes locked together, and once again, he was captivated.
He really likes her so much...
