When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster
Chapter 891: Life Goes On
CHAPTER 891: CHAPTER 891: LIFE GOES ON
When Adrian Lancaster left, he gently closed the door behind him, like a kind angel.
With Faye not around, he would take care of her family.
In the vast living room, only the mother and son were left, with packed suitcases placed in front of the sofa and two pairs of new shoes beside them.
The living room fell into a long silence... a sense of sadness permeated the air.
Nearly two months had passed, and still, there was no sign of Faye.
She had disappeared from everyone’s world without a trace, as if she had never been there, leaving behind beautiful memories like a dream.
The next morning, Adrian Lancaster arrived as promised.
He brought Chloe Gable and Milo Turner a nutritious breakfast, homemade by the family’s servant, which was very hearty, consisting of four or five items in generous portions.
After having breakfast together, he helped carry the suitcase while Milo carried his backpack, wearing the new sneakers his brother-in-law had brought the night before.
Chloe Gable followed along, and the three of them took the elevator downstairs.
"Brother-in-law, these shoes are very comfortable, thank you," Milo said with a smile in the elevator, glancing at Adrian.
Adrian met his gaze, the corners of his lips forming a light arc, revealing a hint of a smile, "From now on, all your shoes are on me. If your size changes, let me know in advance."
This was probably the first smile Adrian had shown during this time, although it did not reach his eyes, he smiled nevertheless.
Chloe Gable, as the mother-in-law, felt very relieved to witness this scene.
They couldn’t let everyone be dispirited because of Faye’s departure, right? Life must go on for those who are living.
Joy has to grow up, and Milo still needs to attend university...
The Prestige Group, holding up half the sky of Argent, also has to continue its operations, and every living person carries their own responsibilities.
The Lamborghini was parked at the entrance of the community, with the trunk open. Adrian Lancaster placed the suitcase inside and took the backpack from Milo, putting it away.
He acted like a caring elder, closing the trunk, opening the backseat door, helping the mother and son into the car, shutting the door before circling around to get back into the driver’s seat.
The drive to the new school from here would take about an hour...
Adrian Lancaster did not call Mr. Kerr because he wanted to have some alone time with the family.
"Milo, university life is different, the teachers won’t manage you closely, so you have to discipline yourself," Adrian’s voice was gentle, "A self-disciplined person will live a different life."
"Thank you, brother-in-law, for the reminder. I have already made a study plan," Milo was determined not to disappoint his sister, feeling confident about the road ahead.
Throughout the journey, they talked about studies and work, as well as life matters, yet there was an unspoken agreement not to mention Faye Turner.
It was a wound in every family member’s heart, and each mention would make it bleed anew.
The car drove towards the new school... the weather was quite nice today.
Even though the conversation was peaceful and they carried smiles, it was hard to hide the slight melancholy in the car.
It seemed as though Faye Turner’s disappearance was omnipresent, constantly reminding everyone.
At Jadepoint, beside the mountains and water, stood The Xavier Estate. This grand Qing Dynasty architecture was well-preserved, majestic, and magnificent.
The glazed tiles from over a hundred years ago on the roof glistened under the sunlight, with the interior decoration exuding elegance and taste.
This mansion symbolized identity and status, known to be the property of The Xavier Family.
