Wife And Mother No More: The Lawyer’s Fiery Return
Sister 209
bChapter 209 /b
The two exchanged nces. Maxine spoke up, “I happen to be free in the next few days. Would it be alright if I went there to pick up myself thenb? /b
The prison staff seemed hesitant. Maxine quickly reassured them, “I’ll take care of the paperwork.
Hearing this, the prison staff on the other end let out a sigh of relief and said, “Just give us a heads up before youe, and an officer will hand the envelope to you when you arrive.”
A monthter, Maxine visited Kathleen again. This time, Kathleen seemed much calmer thanst time. With a guard standing right behind her, she bonly /btold Maxine what she could.
Kathleen remained cooperative throughout the visit. As she was leaving, she told Maxine, “If you’re still curious, check my old ce. You might find something useful there.”
Maxine stood up. “Thank you.”
Kathleen smirked sarcastically. “If I had a choice, I wouldn’t tell you
a damn thing. But I’ll be damned if I let that bastard Gabriel get away scot–free”
out a few low, chilling chuckles, then pressed her hands against the ss. Hissing, she Kathleen seemed to be showing signs of mental instability. She let o said, “Gabriel did this to me. I’ll make sure that bastard rots in prison with me till the day we both die!” Her wildughter echoed, unhinged and vengeful.
Kathleen was led away by the guards. Maxine stood motionless, staring at the handprint Kathleen had left on the ss, lost in thought for a long
moment.
As the door behind her clicked open, the guard announced, “Ms. Hudsonb, /bthe visitation period is over. You may leave now.”
Maxine stood up. The guard smiled and said, “Ms. Hudson, Kathleen left you a letter. You can pick it up after signing in at the front office.”
She took the letter from the office. It was even thicker than she’d expected, scrawled in pencil, with smudged words where fingers had dragged across the crumpled paper. Just looking at it, Maxine could almost feel the hatred Kathleen must have poured into every word.
The letterid out, in painstaking detail, everything Gabriel had ordered her to do, evidence damning enough to ensure he’d spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Maxine thought while studying the letter, ‘But this still isn’t enough. Gabriel is just a yboy. The real power in the Jenson family must be someone else, someone with even more influence than him.‘
But this was already damning enough. Nearly all the profits from thepanies Gabriel had Kathleen bring down were funneled straight into the Jenson family’s corporate ounts. On top of that, there was footage of their hired thugs threatening other victims. Just these points alone would be enough tond the entire Jenson family in serious hot water.
Afterpiling all the evidence, Maxine immediately filed awsuit at the local court, this time naming the Jenson Group as the defendant.
That same afternoon after filing thewsuit, Sebastian called. “Did you sue the Jensons?”
The
Maxine gave a quiet acknowledgment, and Sebastian continued, “The head of the Jenson family just called. He asked me bto /btell you to know when to show mercy.”
Maxine almostughed out loud. ‘Since when do people beg for favors with that kind of attitude?‘ she thought sarcasti
She nodded. “Yes, I’ve already taken the Jenson Group to court. Once their business starts to crumble and runs into trouble, I’ll take them down bone /bbby /bone.”
She paused, her voiceced with sarcasm. “Don’t tell me the Jenson family actually wants you to plead for them?”
Maxine couldn’t help butugh at her own words. ‘Honestlyi, /ithe Jenson family is more likely to ask Urban for help than Sebastianb,/bb‘ /bbshe /bbthought/bb, amused/bb. /b
Sebastian’s voice was gentle over the phone. “Are you okay handling this? Need a hand?”
