When Maxine saw the man, the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.

It hadn’t even been twelve hours since theyst met.

‘What was his name again? That business card.‘ Maxine instinctively reached into her bag to look for it, then suddenly remembered the card had been snatched and thrown away by Sebastian. That made things even more awkward.

But Billett didn’t seem to mind. He leaned back on the sofa, one arm draped casually over the backrest, exuding a kind of unpredictable arrogance and ease.

He said, “Since you don’t remember me, allow me to reintroduce myself. I’m Billett Yves. We met abroad once, at the hospital.”

He didn’t need to say more, because Maxine had already remembered. It was embarrassing.

Back then, she’d been in such a hurry that she identally walked into the wrong restroom, and just her luck, she happened to

    see…

Maxine gave an awkward cough. “Sorry aboutst time. What a coincidence, running into you again.”

Billett squinted slightly with a smile. His already handsome face had a touch of mischievous charm, and that smile made it nearly impossible to look away. Lisa waspletely dazed. She was even more curious about the rtionship between the two.

    She asked, “Maxine, you two…?”

Maxine’s eyelid twitched, her face instantly flushed red. She casually brushed it off, saying they’d only met once.

But Lisa wasn’t buying it. This was clearly not just a one–time meeting. That man’s gaze toward Maxine was practically devouring. Even as an outsider, Lisa could isee /ithe possessiveness in his eyes.

Still, the name “Billett” sounded so familiar.

Lisa racked her brain, thinking hard, but couldn’t ce it, until Billett took the initiative.

He said, “Lisa Bernard, I once worked with your mother, Vivian.”

He casually poured himself a ss of wine and raised it toward Lisa. Suddenly, realization dawned on her.

Lisa’s eyes widened. “Wait, are you the CEO of Beakin Group?”

Vivian had indeed worked with someone named Billett. But there was only one Billett. He was the head of Beakin Group. If that were true, this man was a hundred times better than Sebastian.

Still, a man like this wouldn’t be easy to handle. Whether he was right for Maxine still remained to be seen.

Lisa gave an awkwardugh, didn’t say anything, but subtly moved closer to Maxine. She didn’t care whether he was Billett or not. If he dared to hurt Maxine, she definitely wouldn’t let it slide.

Maxine looked at her friend with amusement but said nothing.

“Mr. Yves, is there something you wanted?” She tried her best to stay calm, herposed demeanor only making her look even more adorable in Billett’s eyes.

He slipped off the bracelet from his wrist and started to toy with it, his loweredshes concealing any émotion

The ck dress shirt he wore only added a sharpness to his already striking presence

He said, “I heard you have been investigating Hamlin Jenson? But you must know it won’t be easy to bring him down

He added, “What if I said I wanted to work with you and give you a hand? What would you think of that, Ms. Hudsongi” /i

Maxine straightened up, her gaze sharpening. “Nothinges for free, Mr. Yves, What exactly are you after?”

Billett almost wanted to say he wanted her.

The irony wasn’t lost on him. He had never believed in love at first sight. But in a foreign country, when he first saw Marine, no one else could enter his heart again. He began paying attention to her cases. But since that incident, they’d never met again. All he had was her name.

Tracking down a woman he’d met only once might’ve sounded excessive.

But he’d underestimated how deeply she’d embedded herself in his heart. Billett found videos of Maxine’s previous trials. In the courtroom, her gaze was resolute, every word powerful and eloquent. She seemed to be dering that her beauty was not her only strength.

Hence, Billett only wanted to find her.
