CHAPTER 364: 144 VEIN (SEEKING COLLECTION)_2

Gorgeous and yet filled with deadly intent.

The effects of Star-related witchcraft are often spectacular, and their lethality is truly astonishing.

DING.

BANG!

The Big Man’s figure flickered, waving the Longsword in his hand. With a snap of his fingers, an invisible force field descended from above.

Lesser Wizard’s Force Field!

Wizard Apprentice!

The opponent was not just a Legendary Knight, but also a Wizard Apprentice, causing Shaxon’s face to turn pale.

Zero-Circle Magic—Star Maze!

Zero-Circle Magic—Star Magnetic Ejection!

He kept retreating, constantly casting witchcraft. Although his combat experience might surpass Lance’s, he still couldn’t withstand the furious onslaught of a Legendary Knight.

BANG!

The howling Battle Aura sent Shaxon flying, landing next to Lance, who was wailing in agony after losing an arm.

"Six Rings Tower?" The Big Man spoke with disdain. "Not that impressive either!"

"Indeed, not that impressive." Just as the Big Man was about to make his move, a leisurely voice came from behind. "You’ve got decent tricks, but you couldn’t gain an advantage even with a battle of attrition. Your practical combat experience is too poor. The Tower... not everyone in it is talented."

Carl shook his head helplessly as he stepped out from the woods.

He had not originally planned to intervene. Lance had reaped what he sowed and deserved death. Shaxon’s case, however, was not so severe. Besides, if Shaxon died, the shop’s business would be affected, and Carl would have to handle many matters himself.

"Senior Carl!"

"Wizard Carl!"

His appearance was nothing short of a godsend, bringing ecstatic relief to the faces of the desperate Lance and Shaxon.

"Hmm?" The Big Man suddenly turned around, looking at Carl as he approached slowly, his gaze flickering slightly. "After fighting the junior, comes the senior. Does your Six Rings Tower always rely on outnumbering others to bully them?"

"Hmm..." Carl touched his chin. "If one has the ability, why not?"

CLANG!

Before his words even fell, the sound of a sword cutting through the air rang by his ear, and a tightness gripped his heart as if a spike had been thrust into his Spiritual Inner Sea.

Was this an attack on the spirit using witchcraft?

Too bad!

Carl was immensely resistant in this aspect, facing such attacks with almost no reaction. Flicking his finger, a stream of water appeared out of nowhere.

One-Circle Witchcraft—Power of the Tides.

The water surged out furiously, as agile as a water dragon, its coverage wide, instantly enveloping the black-robed Big Man within it.

The vortex compressed; water arrows shot forth.

BANG!

Under the ravaging Power of the Tides, the black-robed Big Man’s body exploded. Against an Official Wizard, even a Legendary Knight seemed to have no ability to resist.

"Be careful!" Shaxon suddenly yelled, his eyes wide with horror as he looked behind Carl.

WHOOSH!

The figure of the black-robed Big Man appeared silently behind Carl, his eyes filled with ferocity, gripping his sword for a swift stab. What had burst from the water flow was just a clone.

Die!

Even for an Official Wizard, being approached by a Legendary Knight was dangerous, let alone for Carl, who had only recently ascended to the rank of an Official Wizard. He had mastered only one One-Circle Witchcraft spell.

Faced with this sudden turn of events, the hopeful light that had just risen in Lance’s and Shaxon’s eyes instantly dimmed.

DING.

Carl raised his hand. In it, a broad sword had appeared, though he knew not when. He held it horizontally behind his head, perfectly parrying the incoming stab and even launching a counter-attack.

Battle Skill—Gale Slash!

WHOOSH...

A gale suddenly rose in the area, sword light falling like rain, stirring up energy that raged ceaselessly.

"You..."

PTUI!

The black-robed Big Man’s expression changed. Spitting out a mouthful of blood, his figure flashed towards the depths of the dense forest. In a few flashes, he vanished.

Quick reaction!

Watching the other recede into the distance, Carl pondered for a moment before deciding to abandon the pursuit.

Carl did not handle the matter privately. Instead, he chose to report it to the Tower. The Tower clearly took the incident very seriously and sent two Wizards to inquire about the situation.

"That man had come to the shop to sell Flame Flowers and Flaming Stones. I reckon he had discovered some hidden ore vein," Shaxon spoke honestly. "Lance grew interested and investigated the man in secret. During this process, he invited me too, but considering the Tower’s reputation and the risks, I did not agree..."

This was the backyard of the apothecary, and he was undergoing an interrogation by the Wizards.

"Not agree?" The Wizard Gold, seated squarely in the middle, darkened his expression and interrupted, "If you did not agree, how come you were at the scene yesterday? Were you perhaps entertaining other ideas?"

"No... no," Shaxon’s face turned pale as he hurriedly said, "I noticed Lance was emotionally disturbed and worried that he might encounter danger, so... so I quietly followed him."

"Is that so?" Gold’s voice was icy. "Or are you trying to shift the blame, pushing the entire matter onto Lance alone, to clear your own name?"

COUGH, COUGH. Carl coughed lightly. "Wizard Gold, there are witchcraft spells here that can distinguish lies. He is likely not lying."

"Hiding one’s true inner thoughts isn’t very difficult." Gold’s expression remained unchanged. "I think we should search his Spiritual Inner Sea!"

"Gold!" Bella frowned. "The one who did wrong is Lance. By your logic, shouldn’t we also search Lance’s soul? Don’t be too excessive!"

Force-searching the Spiritual Inner Sea was equivalent to ruining a person’s path as a Wizard, as Nancy’s case had previously shown.

"Lance did commit a mistake, but he hasn’t lied. He openly admitted his wrongdoing. The very attitude of his confession is commendable," Gold said. "Besides, I will punish him."

"You will punish him?" Bella looked disdainful. Could one really be praised for the attitude of their confession after doing something wrong? And was favoritism within their own clan this blatant?
