Wizard: I Can Refine Everything
Chapter 702 - 6: The Wizard’s Efficiency
CHAPTER 702: CHAPTER 6: THE WIZARD’S EFFICIENCY
"Commander-in-Chief, this is the report from the Northern Battlefield."
In the headquarters, Abel brought a document to Richard. Richard was multitasking, contemplating rune configuration while trying to optimize the witchcraft structure at hand, and considering which rules to fuse next.
Matters of the battle only occupied an insignificant portion of his thoughts.
Often, effort and diligence don’t achieve the expected results, and the battlefield is such a place.
Staring at maps and sand tables all day, anxiously waiting for each report from the front lines, can do nothing to improve the situation.
Richard’s current state was akin to "a clever housewife cannot cook a meal without rice."
"Oh, I hope it’s not bad news."
Richard smiled and took the report from Abel’s hand.
Abel respectfully said, "Don’t worry, my lord. Although the Wizard Army in the Northern Battlefield is not elite, they are seasoned. These bugs can’t do anything to them."
Richard opened the report, glanced at its content, and then closed it.
He looked at Abel and chuckled, "Indeed, the situation in the Northern Battlefield is quite stable."
The Northern Battlefield report stated they had repelled nine large-scale attacks from the Galaxy Mayflies. The most severe loss was merely half a fortress position.
If the Mayflies maintain this level of aggression, they can hold for another ten years without a problem.
However, Richard didn’t need them to hold for ten years; just three months would suffice.
The Mixed Species Army’s training has commenced, and once it is completed, even if the effect is not ideal, it will be enough to alleviate the situation.
...
On the boundless plains, the Mixed Species Army was undergoing their training.
Surrounding them were multiple magic arrays and thousands of Wizards. The Galaxy Mayflies excel in using light for reconnaissance, so even with air supremacy in the Star Realm, necessary stealth measures must still be taken.
The integration of the Mixed Species Army had been ongoing for seven days. Excluding the first day, they spent the remaining six days in integration training.
And during these six days, both systems of soldiers gained a certain level of understanding of each other.
The Werewolves and Goblins were surprised that Wizards, which can function as humanoid artillery and multi-functional amplifiers, were used as regular soldiers by the Wizard Civilization.
And Wizards were surprised at these native soldiers’ discipline, rational tactical arrangements, and combat power far exceeding that of ordinary Alien Slaves.
Although they have worked with Alien Slaves for hundreds of years, most Wizards still treated them and Synthetic Beasts as cannon fodder and only regarded them as comrades when facing the Clan.
Yet, the combat power of Goblins and Werewolves exceeded both the slave standard and even the Clan standard.
These filling wizards had no doubt that in a one-on-one battle, understanding each other’s information, the Wizard would definitely be the losing side.
After recognizing each other’s abilities, the integration officially began.
Since Wizards were only a support unit in the Mixed Species Army, they were not given command.
During the training, Wizards were required as much as possible to cooperate with the Heroic Spirit soldiers’ actions.
This was very awkward for the Wizards.
The education of the Wizards included a lot of civil confidence, which made these filling wizards incredibly proud of their identity as Wizards.
Even filling wizards were the absolute center in their fortress.
When did it become the Wizards’ turn to cooperate with the Clan’s actions?
Thus, the friction and stumbling began.
Some Wizards began to refuse cooperation in battle, always complaining about errors in the Heroic Spirit Army’s tactics. Wizards with similar thoughts even banded together, preparing to bring this matter to several Legion Commanders and report it to the Military Department.
Soon, their actions were brought to Richard’s desk by their Legion Commander.
Most of these old Wizards were from the expedition era, and considering such behavior for even one more second was disrespectful to one’s intelligence.
Richard laughed after seeing the report.
Subsequently, the Wizard Military Court intervened directly in the Mixed Species Army training.
Richard didn’t care about the thoughts of these filling wizards. To him, these people were just oversized Wizard Apprentices, and it was very reasonable for them to serve as auxiliary units for these seasoned Heroic Spirit soldiers.
If they were unwilling, there were laws that would make these Wizards understand that orders on the battlefield were paramount.
Of course, some of the issues reflected by these Wizards did indeed exist.
The Heroic Spirit Army, after all, had never fought against the Galaxy Mayflies, and their response based on data did have significant issues. Upon discovering this, Richard gathered several Legion Commanders for communication with the Heroic Spirit Army to ensure the formulation of an effective combat strategy.
Through repeated discussions, the combat mode of the Heroic Spirit Army began to take shape, and specialized training was initiated.
Soon, three months passed.
After three months of training, the Mixed Species Army had developed offensive capabilities. Every soldier in the Heroic Spirit Army was elite, and in the Duel Arena of the Divine Country, they had fought countless times against each other and against simulated Abyss Demons.
The presence of Wizards merely provided them with some new combat techniques and directly enhanced their combat power.
For Wizards, things were simpler—they were support units, responsible for maintaining the Mind Network and providing boosts to Heroic Spirit soldiers.
With the existence of a Magic Model, this was even simpler than Magic Concentrated Fire.
For magic concentrated fire, at the very least you have to ensure your own witchcraft doesn’t collide with your fellow wizard’s.
But in the Mixed Species Army, as long as a wizard can cast, that’s sufficient.
"A two million Mixed Species Army, these people should be enough to break the siege."
Richard looked at the report Abel delivered, stood up, and walked to the map.
On the map, the Northern Battlefield and the Central Battle Zone have been cut off. The black areas representing the Mayflies almost surround the Northern Battlefield, like a group of white stones trapped in a game of Go.
The encirclement of the Northern Battlefield was something Richard anticipated; the link between the two battle zones is not large, and there are too many people in the Northern Battlefield. If they were to retreat, they would inevitably have to sacrifice a portion of the people.
Richard was unwilling to do so.
He had too few wizards at hand; he had to conserve them a bit.
At the breach, the Mayflies had amassed heavy troops to prevent the connection of the two battle zones.
This was a very cautious action, but this caution allowed Richard to see an opportunity.
Richard gently traced a line on the map; the Mixed Species Army would attack from the side of the breach, and as long as they crossed one hundred kilometers, they could connect to the Northern Battlefield.
By then, as long as the wizards in the Northern Battlefield coordinated, the heavy troops amassed at the breach would be like birds caged in.
However, this process had to be very fast, or else the encirclement would turn into a central bloom.
The Galaxy Mayflies’ force held an absolute advantage in the war situation. If it weren’t for Richard’s Heroic Spirit soldiers being able to resurrect, he definitely wouldn’t be doing this.
"Pass down the orders."
Richard turned to Abel and said, "Have the Mixed Species Army open the way, and the Heroic Spirit Army follow. At all costs, break through to connect the two battle zones."
At the same time, far across the world, the King of the Mayflies suddenly opened his eyes.
A sudden premonition arose in his heart.
The winds of war... have changed.
...
Upon receiving the orders, the two million-strong Mixed Species Army and the three million strong Heroic Spirit Army began boarding the War Airships to head to the battlefield.
These War Airships were equipped with optical camouflage; the optical reconnaissance of the Galaxy Mayflies was of little use against the airships.
Accompanying the War Airships were also two small Floating Cities, these two Floating Cities were the only small Floating Cities the wizards could currently mobilize. All other small Floating Cities were engaged in a fierce battle with the Galaxy Mayflies in the Central Battle Zone.
For this battle, Richard had mobilized nearly all of his available strength.
If they still failed, then this world would basically be beyond saving.
On the airship, Elte looked across at the expressionless Werewolf Corps Commander, feeling an inexplicable sense of lament.
Once upon a time, Aliens were slaves, test subjects, specimens, but now, as long as they caught the attention of the Great Wizards, they could become allies or even objects requiring assistance.
What an absurd world.
"Elte, Elte."
A friend’s call unwillingly turned Elte’s head; beside him, his old friend Lael was winking conspicuously at him.
An old wizard of thousands of years should know to be a bit more composed.
"What’s the matter, Lael?"
"Nothing much, I just suddenly thought of a question." Lael replied rather mysteriously, "Do you think if these Heroic Spirits bodies are simulated using some Power of Faith, they could be seen as obedient energy?"
Elte froze, pondered for a moment, then nodded slightly.
"That’s right, what do you want to say?"
"So does that mean if these Heroic Spirits cooperated with that Priest, they could surpass their abilities and unleash more powerful divine arts?"
Lael used a spiritual message to say this; although the Heroic Spirit soldiers cannot die, mentioning such suicidal attacks proposed by a wizard was somewhat inappropriate.
"This... seems to be the case."
Lael was also taken aback by his old friend’s astonishing thought process.
He truly didn’t know how Lael came up with such a strange idea.
"If this were possible, when facing those insects, throwing two third-level Heroic Spirits to break the shield first would make the war a lot easier, wouldn’t it?"
"This..."
Elte felt this idea was too absurd.
But in this absurd world, such tactical ideas seemed not to be entirely out of line.
Driven by a moment of madness, Lael turned to the Werewolf Corps Commander across from him and said, "Su, my friend has an idea, and we need to confirm with you whether it’s feasible."
"Before discussing this idea, I must state we mean no harm; we just simply believe it’s a very... efficient method."
"What idea?" asked the Werewolf Corps Commander known as Su.
Elte tentatively asked, "What’s your opinion on a suicide charge?"
