Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 248: The Paternity Test Results Are Out
CHAPTER 248: CHAPTER 248: THE PATERNITY TEST RESULTS ARE OUT
Soon, the car arrived at the school gate, and Tanya got out to drop off Caden.
Caden was like a little celebrity at school; lots of people knew him. Even before entering the school, a few students surrounded him, curious.
"Caden Hawthorne, who’s this lady?"
Caden puffed out his chest and said, "This is my mom. She’ll be dropping me off from now on."
"How come we’ve never seen your mom before?"
Caden explained, "That’s because she was sick before, but now she’s better."
"Your mom looks so gentle and pretty."
"Of course," Caden said proudly, "My mom is also really smart."
Listening from behind, Tanya felt as if the sunlight falling on her also warmed her heart. Turns out, when people are happy, they might also want to cry.
Caden turned around to wave at her, and Tanya quickly held back her tears to wave at her son.
Watching Caden’s figure disappear into the school gate around the corner, Tanya then turned to leave. However, after taking just a few steps, she saw a familiar Bentley drive up.
The car stopped, and Vincent Hawthorne got out.
At this moment, the backseat door opened, and Cindy Lynn got out first, and then she carried Joy, who’s wearing a beautiful little dress, out of the car.
Joy kissed her cheek affectionately and said something comforting, which made Cindy Lynn smile and gently stroke Joy’s face.
Vincent Hawthorne stood nearby watching this scene, giving off the feeling of a family of three.
Joy waved goodbye to Vincent Hawthorne and Cindy Lynn.
"Bye dad, bye mom Cindy, come pick me up together tonight too."
"Hmm," Cindy Lynn replied gently.
Joy swung her ponytail and, turning around, saw Tanya standing not far away. Her previously bright smiling face dropped as if she hadn’t seen Tanya, she shifted her gaze and walked straight away.
"..." Tanya, just about to raise her hand to greet, awkwardly put it down.
She didn’t bother trying any further, turning to get back in her car.
"Tanya," Vincent Hawthorne quickly walked over.
Tanya acted as if she hadn’t heard him, with one hand already on the car door. Yet, Vincent Hawthorne clung on like a persistent shadow, pressing down on the car door.
"Tanya, I have something to say to you."
"Vincent Hawthorne, we’re not that close," Tanya said with an expressionless face, not holding back her cold and disgusted look, "Don’t call me Tanya again, it makes me feel sick."
Vincent Hawthorne pursed his lips slightly, corrected himself, "Alright, Ms. Sinclair... Could you please not press charges against Uncle Lynn?"
Upon hearing this, Tanya almost laughed from anger.
"Do you know what you’re asking?"
Vincent Hawthorne was already somewhat ashamed of what he said, but he pushed on, "As long as you don’t press charges, whatever compensation you want, both I and The Lynn Family can offer you."
This was the suggestion from their legal team. Horace Sinclair had now completely lost the ability to care for himself, and currently, Tanya Sinclair was his only direct family member. As long as Tanya didn’t press charges and chose to forgive...
Sean Lynn had a big chance of avoiding jail time.
He knew this request was shameless, but the news of him and Cindy Lynn’s engagement had already spread. The Lynn Family and The Hawthorne Family were almost inseparable now; protecting Sean Lynn also meant saving The Hawthorne Family’s face!
"Sister, I’m begging you." Cindy Lynn tugged at Tanya’s arm with a pitiful expression, and after being shaken off, Cindy refused to give up and came back to cling again, "Sister, for the sake of how dad treated you well before, please forgive him this time. Besides, Grandpa Sinclair hasn’t had an accident yet..."
The last sentence completely crossed Tanya’s line.
’Slap—’ At the end of her patience, a fierce slap landed.
"Is that even human speech?! If anything happens to my grandpa, none of you will survive!"
Vincent Hawthorne immediately shielded Cindy Lynn protectively.
"I know you’re angry, and Cindy just had surgery a few days ago; her body is still recovering. If you want to hit, hit me instead."
Tanya couldn’t care less what kind of surgery Cindy Lynn had, and said coldly, "If you both feel like acting, go be actors instead of disgusting me!"
"Vincent, it’s my fault. I was too worried about dad and misspoke," Cindy Lynn pleaded with Tanya, tears welling up in her eyes, "Ms. Tanya, I’m begging you, don’t press charges against dad, please?"
"If you want me not to press charges, fine, Cindy Lynn, you and your mom Shelly Sullivan go die together now, and after dying, go below to seek my mom’s forgiveness." Tanya sneered, "If my mom comes to me in a dream and says she’s forgiven you and asks me to spare Sean Lynn, I will immediately withdraw the charges."
"..."
Cindy Lynn bit her lip in grievance.
Vincent Hawthorne’s gaze toward Tanya became unfamiliar and disappointed.
"Tanya, you used to be the kindest..."
"Is kindness supposed to mean getting bullied by you to my death?" Tanya looked at their embrace, the sarcasm in her eyes growing, "Vincent Hawthorne, you even vowed at the wedding before, claiming you truly loved me and would never betray me."
Vincent Hawthorne’s face slightly changed.
Tanya was too tired of dealing with this treacherous couple and directly got in the car, stepped on the gas, and left.
Cindy Lynn helplessly leaned into Vincent Hawthorne’s arms.
"Vincent, I’m afraid dad might really go to jail this time..."
Vincent Hawthorne comfortingly stroked her back.
"I’ll try to talk to her again before the court proceedings. You just had a tubal ligation surgery a few days ago; your body is still weak, don’t get too agitated."
Vincent Hawthorne learned of this news last night.
He rushed to The Lynn Family last night to accompany Cindy Lynn because with Sean Lynn being detained, Cindy was very anxious and couldn’t sleep. When getting sleeping pills for Cindy, Vincent saw her surgery documents.
He originally thought that Cindy’s words about not wanting kids after marriage and focusing on Caden and Joy, treating them as her own, were just empty talk.
But unexpectedly, Cindy was foolish enough to actually undergo a tubal ligation!
Originally, Vincent had some grievances against the entire Lynn Family for Sean Lynn’s actions, including Cindy Lynn, but upon seeing this surgical document and looking at Cindy’s pitiful appearance, he eventually softened.
No matter what the truth was back then, whatever happened between Sean Lynn and Charlotte Sinclair was ultimately the grudge of the previous generation.
Cindy Lynn was ultimately innocent.
"Vincent, you won’t leave me, right?" Cindy Lynn anxiously hugged him tighter.
Vincent Hawthorne lowered his head and kissed Cindy Lynn’s hair.
Now, no one needed him more than she did.
"Don’t say such silly things; the engagement date will not change."
And even if Sean Lynn really gets imprisoned, The Lynn Family still has plenty of assets, providing him with substantial support.
Of course, it would be best if Sean Lynn can safely get out of this.
Vincent Hawthorne softly assured, "The Hawthorne Family has been around Aris for many years, not without some influence. I’ll do my best to help navigate through this with Officer Crawford..."
On the other side, Tanya received a call from an unknown number.
She picked up, "Hello, who’s this?"
"Ms. Sinclair, it’s me, Felix Kendall," the man’s voice was gentle and magnetic.
Tanya’s tone got slightly indifferent, guessing Felix Kendall’s reason for calling, she asked directly, "Is the DNA test result out?"
"It will be delivered within half an hour. Could you please come to The Kendall Family estate now?"
"Okay, I’m heading over now."
At The Kendall Family’s old house, in the bamboo study.
A gentle breeze swayed the bamboo, creating waves of emerald green.
Old Master Kendall sat before the veranda, with a chess set before him, and Felix Kendall sat opposite him, keeping him company.
Old Master Kendall held a phone in conversation, his aged yet formidable eyes fixed on the chessboard, a sharp glint in his gaze.
He slowly said, "Officer Crawford, rest assured to handle this case, no one can interfere and trouble you!"
At this moment, an adjutant in military uniform also hurried over, breathless from travel.
"Old Master Kendall, the paternity test result is out! I personally escorted it here; no one else touched it on the way!" The adjutant handed over the sealed report.
Old Master Kendall did not reach out, only glanced at his grandson sitting opposite, his gaze having already seen through this boy.
"Let him open it," Old Master Kendall rolled his eyes, "Usually, you hardly come to my study even once in three days, now you want to come three times a day, don’t think your attention is on this old man’s mind!"
Felix Kendall chuckled, not bothering to argue, tore open the seal, looked at the test results, and unsurprisingly raised his eyebrows with a smile.
He casually handed it to Old Master Kendall.
"Grandpa, please have a look."
