Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 267: Declan Pierce, Wake Up!
CHAPTER 267: CHAPTER 267: DECLAN PIERCE, WAKE UP!
The night was deep and silent as water.
Along the riverbank, countless searchlights illuminated the shore as brightly as daylight.
Officer Crawford wiped the sweat off his face.
Suddenly, the sound of rotor blades came from low altitude.
Officer Crawford looked up and clearly saw several helicopters with camouflaged paint circling above, and he was startled.
"Aren’t these... military helicopters? Why are they here?"
Upon seeing the numbers on them, Officer Crawford was even more surprised.
It was The Kendall Family!
A colleague beside him exclaimed, "Did The Kendall Family arrange for military helicopters to help find people? As expected of Second Young Master Pierce, his connections are really impressive!"
In this context, it made sense.
After all, in Aris, the only aristocratic family that could match The Pierce Family was probably The Kendall Family. This kind of mutual support among top elite families, granting personal favors, was quite normal.
Officer Crawford collected himself and loudly encouraged his colleagues, "Come on, everyone, keep up the hard work and continue the search!"
Officer Crawford looked worriedly at the rapid river below. It concealed a perilous waterfall, and if Tanya Sinclair and Declan Pierce were swept to the base of that waterfall, it would truly be a life-and-death situation in the deep ravine and forest...
On the other side of the moonlight.
By the dense forest’s edge, the cold moonlight shone on two drenched figures.
"Cough cough cough—"
Tanya slowly opened her eyes, only to be choked by the water rushing into her lungs, making her cough. After spitting out several mouthfuls of water, she finally regained full consciousness.
—She wasn’t dead!
The ecstatic relief of surviving a disaster didn’t last two seconds before Tanya suddenly thought of Declan!
She frantically turned her head to search, and fortunately, she soon saw Declan’s figure not far away by the dim white moonlight.
She wanted to call out to him, but the sound she made was very weak.
Tanya struggled to get up, her waterlogged clothes cold and heavy, pressing down on her like a moving prison.
It took her several minutes to cover the mere ten meters, falling twice along the way, her hands scraping on sharp rocks and bleeding, the warm blood bringing her back to life through fresh pain.
She used her last ounce of strength to throw herself next to Declan.
"Declan..."
He lay there with his eyes closed, his wet black hair stuck to his forehead, making his face seem even paler. Under the moonlight, he appeared almost translucent, like he would shatter at a touch.
Tanya’s heart sank with panic, and she hurriedly checked his pulse at his neck. It was so weak, she could barely feel it.
Drawing strength from an unknown source, Tanya placed her hands on his chest and began performing CPR, leaning down for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
At first, she managed to remain calm, but after several cycles with no reaction from Declan, Tanya began to panic.
"Declan, you get up now!" Her voice took on a crying tone that even she hadn’t noticed. "Didn’t you say you liked me? Didn’t you say you would pursue me? What are you doing lying here?!"
Large hot tears fell in droplets, hitting the man’s face.
Tanya was already exhausted.
She pressed her face to Declan’s chest, praying for a miracle, tears seeping from her eyes.
"Declan, I beg you... please survive. Don’t leave me here alone..."
"Didn’t you say that if someone bullied me in the future and I couldn’t win, I should complain to you? But if you die, am I supposed to talk to your grave?"
Suddenly, a faint laugh came from above her.
"You could do that too." Declan’s voice was hoarse, serious, "Then I’ll do my best to take him away myself."
Tanya jerked her head up to meet Declan’s pitch-black eyes.
Declan saw the tears all over her face, "Why are you crying like this?"
He furrowed his brow slightly, lifting his hand with difficulty, trying to wipe her tears.
But before he could touch her face, the person in front of him suddenly lunged forward, tightly embracing him.
Declan was slightly stunned.
In the next second, he felt her warm tears seeping into his neck.
The tears Tanya had just managed to stop were now flowing even more fiercely.
"Waaaa... you scared me to death!"
Declan’s hand, suspended in the air, fell on the sobbing form in his arms, gently patting her back in comfort.
He teased her, his eyes and eyebrows softened beyond measure.
"If I’d known waking up would make you cry this much, I wouldn’t have done so."
"Pfft pfft pfft! Stop saying inauspicious things!"
Tanya was so angry she wanted to punch him, but as her fist swung, looking at Declan’s face, she couldn’t bring herself to hit him.
She seriously asked him, "Where are you hurt? Can you still walk?"
She had checked herself and, although covered in multiple wounds, none were deep.
Tanya was well aware that in such a massive explosion, with the impact of jumping from the vehicle and then falling into the rushing river... Surviving with all her limbs intact wasn’t thanks to luck but to Declan!
He had given her the driver’s seat with the airbag, shielded her during the leap, and even in the water, he gave her air, even in the strongest currents, he desperately held her above water to breathe...
But what about himself?
She didn’t dare to imagine the extent of Declan’s injuries...
