Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 276: Shelly Sullivan Turned Herself In!
CHAPTER 276: CHAPTER 276: SHELLY SULLIVAN TURNED HERSELF IN!
After hanging up the phone, Tanya Sinclair waited in the hospital room for Officer Crawford to appear.
Seeing Tanya still looking pale, Aunt Tawny was afraid that Caden was too heavy and would exert pressure on her, so she had Caden come down and take Abby to do homework on the side.
To be precise, Caden was tutoring Abby with her homework.
The lessons Caden did at school were brought home, and since he was in the genius class, his materials were different from Abby’s.
Caden, with his arms folded, supervised Abby like a little teacher doing her homework.
Today’s homework was a test sheet full of English.
Abby was a bit afraid of Caden; she cautiously peeked at the expression of this little teacher while frowning and thinking about the answer to the first multiple-choice question on the test sheet.
After thinking for a while, she decided it was option A and just began to write the letter.
Caden coughed, "Think again."
Abby: "..."
She quietly erased the letter A with a small eraser and changed it to B. Then she looked at Caden uncertainly.
Abby asked hesitantly, "Is... is this okay?"
Caden: "..."
Why is she so dumb?
But he just criticized her in his heart, holding back from saying it.
Because compared to Bobby Abbott, his chubby deskmate, Abby seemed weaker. He could call Bobby Abbott a fool three times a day, and Bobby Abbott would cheerfully accept it.
But as for Abby...
Caden genuinely felt that he hadn’t even scolded her, and she was already on the verge of tears...
Caden sighed, took out paper and pen from his small backpack, and began to explain the question to her.
"You can’t choose B for this question either. Look here..."
The two little heads leaned in close, one seriously explaining the topic, while the other listened obediently, creating a harmonious and loving scene.
Aunt Tawny couldn’t help but take a picture and said, "Abby is such a good and sensible child, even more than Joy..."
Aunt Tawny stopped abruptly, instinctively glancing at Tanya on the hospital bed.
Tanya’s expression darkened.
Aunt Tawny sighed.
No matter how much of a traitor Joy was, recognizing an enemy as a mother, she was Tanya’s biological daughter, and being betrayed by her own flesh and blood, the pain a mother must feel...
"Madam, do you still want to continue fighting for Joy’s custody?" Aunt Tawny asked Tanya softly, facing away from Caden.
Tanya held the cup of warm water Aunt Tawny had just given her, her gaze distant. After a moment’s silence, she softly said, "Joy and I have no mother-daughter bond."
Aunt Tawny was momentarily speechless.
Madam really didn’t intend to take Joy back this time...
"By the way, Aunt Tawny, where is Mason? Why didn’t he come up?" Tanya changed the topic.
Aunt Tawny couldn’t drive, so the driver must have been Mason Vance. Yet, Mason hadn’t come up with them.
Speaking of this, Aunt Tawny was quite helpless. These days, Mason had been acting as her and Caden’s driver. Aunt Tawny knew him quite well, knowing that he was the son of the Sinclair’s former butler, practically family to Tanya.
"That kid is stubborn as a mule, saying he didn’t protect you properly and doesn’t have the face to see you. He’s waiting downstairs."
Tanya frowned slightly, "How can this be his fault? I’ll talk to him once I recover."
Aunt Tawny nodded, "I suppose you’re the only one who can persuade him." Aunt Tawny glanced back at Abby, remembering the man they met at the elevator.
When Aunt Tawny came up, she noticed there were only three suite rooms on this floor. The other two were empty, so the man they met at the elevator was likely here to visit Tanya!
"Madam, I just met a strange man at the elevator..." Aunt Tawny briefly described the man’s appearance to Tanya, who immediately knew it was Felix Kendall she had encountered.
Tanya said, "I know him, he’s the young master of The Kendall Family, Felix Kendall. He’s not a bad person."
The Kendall Family was indeed known to Aunt Tawny.
Surprised, she said, "I didn’t expect Abby to have a connection with The Kendall Family; she called that man uncle!"
"You mean Abby knows Felix Kendall?" Tanya was rarely surprised, glancing at Abby again.
She had previously inquired about Abby’s background from the homeroom teacher, Ms. Underwood; Ms. Underwood only said the child was pitiful but didn’t say much else. Children who could attend a prestigious school certainly weren’t from poor families.
Yet, Tanya hadn’t expected Abby to have any link to Felix Kendall...
Tanya didn’t get the chance to ask Abby for clarification, as the room door was knocked on first.
Entering through the door was Officer Crawford in his uniform.
"Ms. Sinclair."
Abby recognized him and obediently called out, "Hello, police officer uncle."
Officer Crawford had a deep impression of Abby as well, smiling kindly at the little girl.
"Hello, young one. We meet again."
Tanya said, "Aunt Tawny, could you please first take Abby and then take Caden directly home? I have some matters to discuss with Officer Crawford."
"I want to stay." Caden raised his small hand, "Mom, I can stay with you."
"Be good, Caden. Mommy is very safe here. If you stay, Mommy might be distracted and won’t be able to cooperate properly with the police officer in the investigation to catch the bad guys." Tanya gently touched Caden’s small face and softly said, "Come see Mommy again tomorrow, okay?"
Hearing Tanya say this, Caden thought for a moment and proposed a trade-off: "Mom, can I take a day off tomorrow to stay with you? I won’t fall behind on my homework!"
Tanya was naturally not worried about Caden’s studies.
She knew very well that Caden was still bothered by the fact he wasn’t with her that day at the Ferris wheel park.
She tenderly and affectionately agreed immediately.
"Of course, you can. Mommy will wait for you to bring breakfast."
"Okay!"
Only then did Caden smile and salute Officer Crawford.
"Police officer uncle, I will leave my mom with you for now. Don’t talk to her for too long, okay? She’s still very weak."
Officer Crawford chuckled wryly, "Understood, don’t worry. I wouldn’t dare tire your mom out."
Only then did Caden reluctantly follow Aunt Tawny, with Abby also turning back every few steps as they left.
Officer Crawford remarked, "I’m amazed that a man like Vincent Hawthorne could have such a wonderful son! Your genes are indeed dominant."
Thinking of Joy, Tanya felt a bit bitter at the corner of her mouth.
Her daughter probably took after Vincent Hawthorne...
"Officer Crawford, this time Old Ninth King kidnapped me; it wasn’t just for revenge. Someone was behind it, directing him! Old Ninth King admitted it to my face that it was Shelly Sullivan and Cindy Lynn, the mother and daughter..."
"Ms. Sinclair, please calm down." Officer Crawford’s gaze was gentle yet firm as he calmed Tanya’s emotions, softly informing her, "Just two hours before you woke up, Shelly Sullivan had already surrendered at the police station!" Tanya was taken aback, finding it hard to believe: "She surrendered?"
Officer Crawford said, "Yes, she confessed that she paid a hefty sum to hire Old Ninth King to return to Aris and kill you. Shelly Sullivan has provided a detailed account of her private communication and transaction records with Old Ninth King, including his hiding place!"
Tanya gradually guessed Shelly Sullivan’s intention.
She intended to take all the blame to protect Cindy Lynn!
