Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back
Chapter 34: Maybe He Was Just Dreaming
CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: MAYBE HE WAS JUST DREAMING
This bitch must have done it on purpose, taking your photo from a tricky angle to make you look ugly and fat! You’re stunning! The Hawthorne Family is insane; what era is this that they’re still pulling these stunts? Is Vincent dead or what, he doesn’t even know to step in!" Daisy Bell didn’t spare anyone with her sharp tongue.
Tanya Sinclair was actually indifferent.
Besides, Caden came out to defend her at that time. When she thought of her son Caden, Tanya felt warm inside and cared even less.
"It’s alright, if she wants to post it, let her."
She couldn’t care less how the upper-class crowd mocked her.
Daisy Bell was displeased: "You can tolerate it, but I can’t. You’re my only best friend; bullying you is like bullying me! Leave it to me!"
It wasn’t that she could tolerate it; she simply didn’t care anymore.
Tanya Sinclair said helplessly, "Daisy, I’m really fine. Leave this matter alone, I have something else I want your help with."
She wasn’t worried about Yvonne; she was concerned that Daisy, being a top-tier star in the public eye and having just won Best Actress, was under scrutiny from numerous competitors. Many eyes were watching her.
She didn’t want Daisy Bell to be targeted for standing up for her.
Daisy Bell pursed her lips, ignoring Tanya Sinclair’s first half sentence. She wasn’t planning to let Yvonne go so easily.
"Darling, what do you want me to do for you?"
"Vincent hired a nanny, called Aunt Lewis. I suspect she’s swapping Caden’s and Joy’s food for her own two grandchildren. Could you help me arrange for someone to keep an eye on her? Also, I’d like to set up some surveillance in the kitchen."
"This Aunt Lewis has sticky fingers. Is Vincent blind? Such a nanny is still allowed to take care of the kids!" Daisy Bell complained.
Tanya Sinclair had her own answer.
She paused for a moment and said, "Aunt Lewis should have been recommended by Cindy Lynn; she’s mostly likely Cindy’s relative."
She had noticed Aunt Lewis secretly filming her every move, and besides reporting to Vincent, she also shared the information with Cindy Lynn.
Daisy Bell was amused by anger.
"That woman is something else; she even arranged her own people into The Hawthorne Family as a nanny. A stinking mistress, yet she actually considers herself the lady of the house!"
Tanya Sinclair sarcastically tugged at the corner of her mouth, glancing at the wedding photo gathering dust in the corner.
If she hadn’t woken up, Cindy Lynn might have already moved in openly by now.
"And, Daisy, there’s one more thing..."
After finishing the call with Daisy Bell, Tanya Sinclair planned to wake the two kids. As she walked to the door, she first heard Joy’s slightly coquettish voice inside.
"Daddy, my brother and I also want to go find you guys..."
Tanya Sinclair’s smile froze on her face.
Just then, Caden had already opened the door, and seeing Tanya standing there at the door, he quickly nudged Joy lightly.
Upon seeing Tanya, Joy looked displeased. She turned her back, whispering, "Bye, Daddy, see you later."
Tanya managed a smile. "Caden, Joy, you’re up? Go have some breakfast."
Joy didn’t want to talk to her. With her little backpack on, she walked past Tanya and clattered downstairs by herself.
Caden gave Tanya a glance but said nothing and followed her downstairs.
However, he remembered Tanya couldn’t see, and after a few steps, he turned around to look at her as if worried she might fall.
Tanya felt a bit of comfort in her heart.
At least, Caden wasn’t as resistant to her.
In the dining room, Aunt Lewis had already served breakfast—steak cooked just right, plated to perfection, with a bowl of bird’s nest congee prepared for Tanya, though the bird’s nest obviously wasn’t premium quality.
"Aunt Lewis, the steaks Vincent ordered, they’re top-grade wagyu flown in, aren’t they?"
"Yes, madam."
Vincent was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, quite particular about food, always ensuring the finest ingredients.
"I’d like to try the steak today too." Tanya instructively said, "Cut me a piece from Caden’s and Joy’s steaks, the same portion."
Aunt Lewis paused, intending to brush it off, "Madam, the steaks were portioned specifically for the kids by the nutritionist. Mr. Hawthorne knows about it; it’s not good to give you any..."
Using Vincent against her?
Tanya responded indifferently, "Then go cook another one to replace what Caden and Joy will eat. What, in this house, do I need your permission just to eat steak? Or do I need to call Vincent and ask?"
"That’s not what I meant, madam." Aunt Lewis replied awkwardly, with a smile.
Tanya’s expression remained unchanged; she reached out to the plate in front of her, pushing it forward, clearly indicating for Aunt Lewis to cut a piece from Caden’s and Joy’s steaks for her right now.
Joy merely thought Tanya was bullying Aunt Lewis on purpose, angrily throwing her fork down.
"I don’t want to eat anymore, let her have it all! Brother, let’s go, I want to eat dumplings from The Auspice Pavilion, have Uncle Driver take us!"
Actually, it’s not that she wants to eat, it’s because Cindy mom loves dumplings from The Auspice Pavilion; she wants to bring them for Cindy mom.
Pulling the hesitant Caden, she ran out, completely ignoring Tanya’s attempts to stop her.
"Joy, wait a moment. Let Mom take you..."
Tanya, a bit anxious, got up to chase them but neglected to watch her step and tripped over the table corner, falling heavily on the ground.
She was too thin; when her body hit the cold ground, the pain made her unable to get up for a while.
Seeing this scene, Caden turned back, feeling a bit guilty and wanting to help Tanya, but Joy tightly held him back.
"Brother, don’t bother with her, Aunt Lewis is here. Let’s hurry; Uncle Driver is waiting for us!"
Sitting in the car, Joy politely told the driver, "Uncle Driver, please take us to The Auspice Pavilion; I want to buy breakfast for Cindy mom and dad."
She happily sent a voice message to Cindy Lynn.
"Cindy mom, my brother and I are going to get breakfast for you and dad, buying your favorite dumplings, and then we’ll head to the hospital to see you right away. Love you today too."
Cindy Lynn quickly replied with a voice message.
Joy opened the message and listened intently.
Cindy Lynn: "Joy darling, you’re so thoughtful. You’re truly a little angel sent by heaven."
Joy beamed, holding her phone, her eyes smiling like crescent moons.
Beside her, Caden watched his sister, pursed his lips, and reminded her, "Joy, Aunt Cindy isn’t our biological mom."
Joy knew what her brother meant; she kept quiet, fiddling with her phone.
Caden took Joy’s phone away, adopting his big brother demeanor, seriously and solemnly saying, "Joy, you did wrong yesterday. When you make a mistake, you should apologize."
If Tanya hadn’t asked for Joy to apologize yesterday, he would have stood up to clarify the truth.
Joy crossed her arms unhappily, saying, "It’s she who bullied Cindy mom first, causing Cindy mom’s hand to get hurt! I just want to protect Cindy mom!"
"But she can’t see; how can she bully Aunt Cindy? Aunt Cindy herself said she didn’t mean it."
"That’s because..." Joy wanted to explain but remembered what Cindy mom said and swallowed her words.
Cindy mom said it was their secret; they couldn’t tell anyone.
Not even brother or dad.
Joy puffed out her cheeks, turning her face to look out the window: "Anyway, brother, you aren’t allowed to like that mean woman who bullies Cindy mom!"
Caden: "..."
In truth, compared to Joy, he didn’t spend that much time with Cindy Lynn.
He’s very busy.
Though in the same school as Joy, he takes two sets of courses, attending lessons and other heir training on weekends and after school.
Strictly speaking, Cindy Lynn mostly takes care of Joy.
He knew Joy always considered Cindy Lynn as her real mom; it was fine before, but now, their real mom had returned.
And he actually didn’t dislike that woman...
Caden raised his little hand to touch his forehead, unsure if he was dreaming.
Last night, Tanya seemed to come to his room and kissed him lightly, a very light good night kiss, but it felt so warm...
But then he thought, Tanya couldn’t see.
So it must have been just a dream.
Caden’s eyes dimmed a little, he lowered his hand as a wave of loneliness welled up inside him...
