CHAPTER 4: CHAPTER 4: MISTAKEN FOR FIFTEEN YEARS, IT’S TIME FOR HER TO WAKE UP!

Cindy tightly held Vincent Hawthorne’s waist, and the tulips she had personally planted around them made the scene picturesque.

Tanya Sinclair let out a sarcastic laugh.

She watched Vincent gently push Cindy away and take out the lipstick she had accidentally left behind from his pocket, handing it to Cindy.

The two exchanged some words, and Cindy tiptoed to kiss him. Tanya, feeling disgusted, couldn’t watch anymore. She moved away from the window and struggled into the walk-in closet.

The walk-in closet was large, and her clothes were separately placed on one side, mostly in plain dresses, gentle and serene.

Vincent liked her wearing plain colors.

Actually, she didn’t like plain colors, but because Vincent once said she looked good in a white dress, she dressed to match his preferences...

Tanya felt she was downright ridiculous.

She opened the hidden compartment in the wardrobe, which contained her ID card, passport, bank cards, two mobile phones, and a bulging document folder.

The words "Graydon University" on the cover made Tanya’s eyes sting.

She glanced briefly and quickly looked away.

The document folder held things that were never sent, her biggest regret over the years...

Tanya took out a phone, unlocked it, and opened the contact list.

Luckily, all contacts were still there.

She dialed her best friend Daisy Bell’s number.

The ringtone had just sounded when it was immediately picked up.

Daisy’s excited voice shook.

"Tanya? Is that you?" Before Tanya could speak, Daisy went on a tirade, "I warn you, if you’re not my dear Tanya but that bastard Vincent, daring to disturb my sleep, I’ll roast you on social media tomorrow! My eighty million followers aren’t just for show!"

Tanya burst into laughter, finally feeling a long-missed warmth.

"Daisy, it’s me."

On the other end, silence fell instantly. But Tanya knew Daisy too well; she moved the phone away and counted silently: 3, 2, 1...

"Ah!!!" Daisy shrieked, "Tanya, my darling! You’ve finally awakened. I miss you so much! Are you at the hospital or home? Give me an address, I’ll run to you right now!"

Daisy swore, "That bastard Vincent, during these five years you were in a coma, every time I tried to visit you, his people wouldn’t let me in! I couldn’t even deliver the flowers I bought for you!"

Vincent did it on purpose, intending to cut off all her connections...

Tanya longed to see her best friend too, but now wasn’t the right time.

"Daisy, I can’t see you yet. I need you to do me two favors."

"Tell me! What do you need me to do?" Daisy gritted her teeth, "I can hire someone to assassinate that dog Vincent, he dared to make you lie in a coma for five years!"

This was a true best friend...

Tanya smiled soundlessly and got to the point.

"Daisy, I need you to look into the secretary of Vincent named Cindy Lynn, as detailed as possible."

"Sure, these past years when he appeared publicly, Cindy always dressed like Mrs. Hawthorne, and I’ve disliked her for a while now!"

Tanya was silent.

Actually, Cindy was initially her secretary, hired by Vincent when she was pregnant to ease her burden.

Now, it seemed the relationship between Vincent and Cindy wasn’t that simple...

"Tanya, what’s the second thing?" Daisy pressed on.

Tanya steadied herself: "Tomorrow, I need you to find some gardeners to come to the villa. I want to dig up the tulips in the front yard and plant my favorite ones instead..."

"Yellow roses!" Daisy interrupted.

Tanya was somewhat surprised: "How did you know?"

She had loved yellow roses since childhood, but very few knew this. Later, because Vincent liked tulips, she stopped mentioning them... and Daisy was her college roommate.

How could she know?

Daisy muttered: "I didn’t expect it was true. Your favorite flower is indeed yellow roses."

"Who told you?" Tanya asked.

Unexpectedly, Daisy mentioned a name that left her incredibly shocked.

"It was Declan Pierce. He told me before."

Tanya was so astonished she almost dropped her phone.

She was all too familiar with the name Declan Pierce.

Even the excessively handsome, slightly mischievous face of the man was indelibly etched in her mind...

The last time she saw Declan was seven years ago, at the airport.

She received Vincent’s call and turned back at the last moment before boarding, leaving everything behind. Declan was the only one who stopped her.

He stood before her, his tall, upright figure blocking all the light. That exceptionally handsome face was cast in shadow by the evening sun outside the window, highlighting his captivating, cold black eyes.

Declan was a person of indifferent nonchalance, always with a hint of detachment in his eyes, and Tanya had never seen him lose control.

But she remembered, that day, Declan’s gaze was extremely cold.

In his eyes, clear as a cold pool, she could see her own reflection.

She remembered the last words Declan said to her.

He said: ’Tanya Sinclair, is it worth it?’

The man looked down at her, the fine line of his lips forming a sharp curve.

At that time, she did not give Declan an answer but brushed past him with the decisiveness of a moth to a flame, without turning back...

But now, she could finally answer him.

Tanya looked at her pale, thin self in the mirror and silently mouthed in her heart: It’s not worth it. But Declan, the mistakes I’ve made, I’ll clean up with my own hands.
