Chapter 82
Chapter 82: Expanding the Market — What Flavor Is Your Lipstick?
The next day at noon, the weather was sunny again.
With the help of an account recommended by Chen Lanfang, Jiang Zhou easily got in touch with the part-time job club at Qingbei University.
Although Ganfanren currently only handled online meal orders within the campus of Shangjing University, students from nearby universities were also following food posts on ganfanren.com. So, to some extent, they were familiar with Jiang Zhou’s name.
After all, food-sharing posts were free.
And nowadays, aside from eating, studying, and dating, college students really didn’t have much else going on. The food posts from Ganfanren had largely solved the eternal dilemma of “what to eat today.”
So, the two parties quickly reached an initial agreement:
Qingbei University’s part-time job club would temporarily act as Ganfanren’s promotional team on their campus.
Meanwhile, the three guys in Wu Di’s dorm had to help distribute flyers for a month. It was punishment for losing a bet.
But Jiang Zhou wasn’t a stingy boss.
They’d be paid for each day they worked.
—
By October 8th, the small brick building Jiang Zhou had applied to use was now available.
The first employee meeting of Ganfanren was officially held there.
“Our current mission is simple: expand the market as fast as possible.
“The startup pitch is coming up fast, and I need to add weight to my pitch.”
Jiang Zhou held his development plan and distributed the tasks in detail.
He’d already thought all this out half a month ago. Now, it was just time to execute.
“I’ve already established contact with Qingbei University’s part-time club, so you don’t need to worry about that.
“But schools like the Normal University, University of Technology, and the Fashion Institute — those are our closest targets. We must secure them.
“This task will be handled by our market development team, Mu Xiaoxiao and Zhu Jingyue.”
The two junior-year upperclasswomen nodded.
They were the only two members of the market development team, recruited on October 2nd.
Jiang Zhou had made them memorize materials for a whole week. Now, they were finally ready to be sent into the field.
Jiang Zhou checked the remaining number of flyers, which were only 500.
That wasn’t even enough to cover a single university.
“Xiaomei, go print 5,000 more flyers and give them to the market team seniors.”
Han Rou nodded. “Got it. But… we’ve been using the student council’s printing machine so often. I’m afraid people might start gossiping.”
Jiang Zhou thought for a moment. “No problem. We have a bigger office now anyway. Let’s open our own printing room. Su Nan, that’s your job.”
“You want to allocate funds for me to buy printers and laminators?”
“No, apply for them from the school. They promised full support.”
Su Nan looked at Jiang Zhou. “Boss, you’re really frugal.”
Jiang Zhou tapped the desk. “There’s still a long road ahead. If we don’t save money, we’ll be drinking cold wind.”
“You’ve got a rich woman and still act poor. If it were me, I’d have latched onto her thigh by now.”
“I’m warning you. Don’t even think about messing with Feng Siruo!”
Han Rou looked confused. “My sister-in-law is a rich woman?”
Su Nan nodded fiercely. “The other day Jiang Zhou said he was broke and asked her for money. Guess how much she had?”
“Ten thousand?”
“A hundred thousand!”
“She’s really that rich?!”
Jiang Zhou coughed. “We’re in a meeting, alright? Let’s talk about my personal life later.”
Han Rou and Su Nan exchanged glances and stifled laughter.
“What are you two laughing at? Everyone else, too. Quit chatting or people will think I’m just a sugar baby!”
At that moment, the delivery group leader, Lu Qiang, raised his hand.
Jiang Zhou raised an eyebrow. “What, you want to be a sugar baby too?”
Lu Qiang quickly waved it off. “No, no. I’ve got something to report.”
“Something wrong with the part-time riders?”
Lu Qiang nodded. “Recently we’ve been getting a few orders from non-students, and we don’t know how to handle them.”
“You mean customers living outside campus are placing orders on Ganfanren?”
“Yes. One was as far as the South Third Ring. We didn’t want to offend them, so we delivered anyway.”
Jiang Zhou nodded thoughtfully.
Ganfanren might’ve started on campus, but it would eventually expand into society.
Having non-student users placing orders was a good sign. It meant people were getting used to ordering food online.
But far-off deliveries were a problem. A trip to the South Third Ring would take 40 minutes minimum.
“Are there many such out-of-range orders?”
“Not really, maybe twice a week.”
“Then let’s put this aside for now. Next time it happens, let me know.”
Lu Qiang nodded, remembering his boss’s words.
—
The next day, Ganfanren’s market expansion initiative began in full swing.
Han Rou and Su Nan went to the school admin office to apply for a printer and laminator.
Director Yan, looking reluctant, handed them an official stamped approval form.
“Use them with care. The school will be taking them back later!”
Su Nan grinned, holding the form. “Director Yan, if you’ve given it to our boss, do you really think you’re getting it back?”
Director Yan ground his teeth. “If it breaks, he’ll have to pay for it at depreciation value!”
“Really?”
“Forget it. Don’t tell Jiang Zhou I said that. I’m too old to argue with him.”
Han Rou chuckled and thanked him before leaving with Su Nan.
They recruited a few people and set up a printing room in the brick building.
With this, Ganfanren’s flyers would soon flood the entire college district.
“I’m a student council president, unpaid, and I still have to work…” Han Rou looked at the completed print room and couldn’t help complaining.
Su Nan snorted. “Oh come on, senpai. Boss pampers you the most.”
“Really?”
“He always sends you red envelopes. Holidays are one thing, but even during the 24 solar terms!”
Han Rou turned with an innocent look. “Well, he’s my big brother. It’s only natural.”
Su Nan looked extremely envious. “Even boyfriends don’t do that! Who gets red envelopes for every solar term?”
“I’ve never had a boyfriend…”
“Me neither…”
