CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: THIS IS A VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

"What did you say?" Arthur Vance was astonished and stood up from the sofa immediately. It was clear how much he cared about this Jade Pendant.

Logan Vance finally saw a satisfying outcome and quickly stood up to support his grandfather, whose body was slightly trembling. He softly said, "Grandpa, don’t get angry yet, let’s hear what Melanie has to say?"

After saying that, he gave Melanie a subtle wink. Seeing this, Melanie had no scruples and revealed the whole truth: ’That Jade Pendant has always been on my sister, but she hid it very well. I couldn’t get it. Later, my father had no choice but to give you a fake Jade Pendant temporarily.’

"No choice? So you can deceive me with a fake Jade Pendant?" Arthur Vance never anticipated that a mere Mason Morgan would dare to fool him with a fake Jade Pendant. He was immediately infuriated and wanted to have Melanie punished.

"Someone, drag this woman to the backyard, and also call Mason Morgan. I want him to know the consequences of deceiving me!"

Melanie was frightened when she heard this and quickly pleaded with Arthur Vance, "Grandpa, I had no choice, I’m so in love with Vincent, I really want to marry him."

Seeing Arthur Vance about to punish Melanie, Logan Vance quickly persuaded him, "Grandpa, Melanie was wrong, but at least she told us the truth about the real Jade Pendant. Shouldn’t we now ask May about the Jade Pendant?"

Reminded by Logan, Arthur Vance remembered the significant matter. He quickly looked up at May Morgan and asked her coldly, "May, do you have the Jade Pendant on you?"

May hurriedly glanced at Vincent Vance, only to find him calmly sitting on the sofa without saying a word.

She had already given the Jade Pendant to Vincent. If she said it now, she could definitely protect herself. But would it be safer with Arthur Vance than with Vincent?

The outcome was clearly a no.

Vincent’s interest in the Jade Pendant was out of curiosity, but Arthur definitely had another motive, and May had every reason to believe that he knew the enormous secret hidden within the Jade Pendant.

"Grandpa, the Jade Pendant, I lost it." After hesitating for a moment, May quickly looked down and perfunctorily replied to Arthur Vance in a soft voice.

"Lost? When did this happen?" Arthur Vance wasn’t going to let May off easily. He was determined to get the Jade Pendant.

May felt her palms sweating. Arthur was someone even Vincent had to respect. Would she be killed on the spot for lying?

"Some, some time ago when I went on a trip out of town, I accidentally lost the Jade Pendant." May secretly broke out in a cold sweat, forcing herself to face off against Arthur Vance.

"Where did you lose it? I’ll send someone to find it!" Arthur’s sharp eyes, like an eagle, fixed on May’s face, making her body tremble. She wouldn’t last much longer.

"Grandpa, May lost the Jade Pendant. As her husband, I have a certain responsibility for this. Give me a few days, and I’ll be responsible for getting it back."

Knowing that May was almost about to give in, Vincent quickly spoke to shield her.

Arthur looked deeply at Vincent, pondered for a moment, and finally chose to compromise, "Alright, I’ll give you five days. After five days, you must hand the real Jade Pendant over to me."

"Okay." Without another word, Vincent nodded and took May’s hand, ready to leave. "If there’s nothing else, I’ll take May and go now."

As they passed by Melanie, Vincent shot her a sharp glance, making her legs weak and causing her to step back several strides.

Having been with Vincent for so long, she naturally knew his temper. If it wasn’t for Logan backing her up, she wouldn’t have dared to come here to cause him trouble.

But just like that, would this matter be over? She was not willing!

After leaving the Vance Residence, May anxiously looked at Vincent, "In five days, will you really return the Jade Pendant to grandpa?"

"No." Without any hesitation, Vincent said firmly.

"Then how will you explain it to grandpa?" May couldn’t help but ask, looking at Vincent’s profile.

"I have my ways." Mason managed to fool grandpa, which was enough to show that he didn’t have a genuine method to verify the authenticity of the Jade Pendant. In that case, finding a new fake wouldn’t take long.

Knowing he didn’t want to discuss the Jade Pendant’s matter with her more, May hesitated for a moment, then closed her mouth, turned to look at the scenery outside the window, and stopped talking to Vincent.

Shortly after they returned to Zenith Villa, Jacob Jennings suddenly came over with a stack of documents to find May, "Miss May, please sign here."

May took the stack of documents with suspicion, glanced at it, and immediately got furious, "What is this? Who said I’m taking academic suspension?"

Jacob explained calmly, "It was the young master’s idea. He said it’s not safe for you outside, so he simply processed your academic suspension."

"This is ridiculous, how am I not safe? Even if it’s unsafe, there’s no need to take academic suspension, right?"

Vincent’s unilateral decision made May furious. Only she knew how difficult it was for her to attend this university.

To afford her tuition, she had to endure the mockery and ridicule of Aunt Melody White and her sister Melanie. To graduate smoothly, she had exhausted all her energy and lost all her dignity. But could Vincent just throw away all her persistence with one sentence?

What right did he have?

Thinking of this, May threw the documents onto the floor and turned to the study to confront Vincent.

"What right do you have to handle my academic suspension?" May shouted in a rage, slamming the table and yelling at Vincent.

Gazing at her hand on the table, Vincent frowned displeased, "It’s just a year of academic suspension, not expulsion. Why are you so nervous?"

Yes, suspension wasn’t expulsion, but with this suspension, what could she do? Stay in Zenith Villa and stare at each other?

"I have just one more year before my internship. If I suspend now, I’ll be at a disadvantage."

May knew her qualifications weren’t high. Although she worked hard, her subjects were only barely passing. If she took a year off, she feared she wouldn’t be able to pick up those skills again.

Seeing her on the verge of tears, Vincent’s heart softened, and his tone wasn’t as harsh, "The wedding is about to take place, and I don’t want it to be delayed by other trivial matters."

Damn it, is the wedding more important, or is my education more important? Do you have to be so selfish?

"I... I don’t need a wedding."

"Is that your decision to make?" Vincent raised an eyebrow, looking domineeringly at her.

"But... but is academic suspension necessary?"

"And the honeymoon, I won’t short you of that either."

May rolled her eyes silently, thinking, I never wanted your goodwill anyway.
