Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 34: That Relationship, I’ve Truly Let Go
CHAPTER 34: CHAPTER 34: THAT RELATIONSHIP, I’VE TRULY LET GO
May Morgan clenched her fingers, forcing herself to face him again and said, "I’m telling you again, we’re just in a transactional marriage without any feelings. I’ve given you everything you wanted, and letting me go free can only benefit you, right?"
"Hiss!"
Before May could finish her words, Vincent Vance suddenly slammed on the gas pedal, pulling the car over to the side of the road. The sudden stop caused May to hit the dashboard, grimacing in pain.
She had been shoved into the car by Vincent so roughly that she hadn’t even put on her seatbelt, and now she had sustained yet another injury, almost giving herself a concussion from the impact.
"What are you doing? That hurt!" May held her swollen forehead, glaring at Vincent with resentment.
Vincent gripped the steering wheel tightly, his gaze not meeting her face: "May, I’ll tell you one last time, the wedding date has already been announced by the media. My grandfather has also agreed to hold the wedding in three days, and if you dare embarrass me at this critical moment, I won’t let you off."
"You’re so cold-blooded. I’ve already told you the secret and I don’t even want the Jade Pendant anymore. Why are you still so stubborn?"
Even if you want to save face, shouldn’t you choose the right moment? A marriage is a major event, how can it be treated so lightly? A transactional marriage is an error in itself. If it can be stopped in time, why continue?
Vincent suddenly turned his head, grabbing May’s face and pressing her down beneath him: "I want the Jade Pendant, and I’ll know the secret sooner or later, but you... I won’t let you leave easily."
"You’re a bastard, I have no feeling for you, you have no feeling for me, is face so important to you?"
"Yes, very important. Your Morgan Family has already disgraced me once. If you dare run away from the wedding this time, do you believe I won’t flatten your entire family?"
"Do whatever you want, I’d rather you destroy that family. That family is cold-hearted and has nothing to do with me. Why should I sacrifice my future to let those heartless people live happily?"
"You may not understand me, I’ve said before, I’ll make sure everyone in the Morgan Family is finished, and ’everyone’ includes your grandmother in the countryside." Vincent gripped May’s face tightly, his expression threatening and terrifying.
He had already investigated May’s background thoroughly. Although the mother who raised her had passed away, she still had an elderly grandmother in the countryside who had relied on May for many years for support. He didn’t believe that she could watch Mason Morgan die coldly and yet stand by as her grandmother got harmed.
Sure enough, when Vincent threatened May with her grandmother, she immediately lost her composure, her tone becoming much softer as she spoke to him.
"Don’t touch my grandmother, she’s very old, please don’t touch her." Thinking of her grandmother’s care over the years, May immediately pleaded with Vincent in despair.
"Then behave yourself." Vincent released his grip, turning and sitting straight in his seat. He gazed deeply out at the night scene for a long moment before murmuring: "May, I hope you understand, the reason I didn’t hand over the Jade Pendant is just to protect you."
"Is that so?" May gave a strange smile, feeling a bit desolate inside: "So, your marrying me, forcing me to stay by your side is also to protect me?"
Her words clearly betrayed her suspicion and distrust of him, which left Vincent unsure of what to say, suddenly feeling a bit tangled inside.
He really didn’t like her thinking this way about him, about their marriage, he really didn’t.
"It’s late, let’s go back and rest." After a long pause, Vincent finally sighed softly and started the car again, driving toward Zenith Villa.
Midway, the car passed Monica Lambert’s neighborhood. She couldn’t help but glance over, and it was that glance that suddenly made Vincent change his mind and he abruptly steered the car into Monica Lambert’s neighborhood.
"Hey, what are you doing coming here?" May asked, her face full of curiosity as she looked at him.
Vincent sighed slightly, his gaze still fixed on the road ahead, but his tone was obviously softer: "Didn’t you say last time you wanted to talk to your good friend? I’m taking you over there."
May looked at him in surprise, hesitantly asking, "You’re saying I won’t be going back to Zenith Villa with you tonight?"
Saying this, Vincent had already parked the car downstairs at Monica’s place. He looked up at Monica’s fifth-floor window. Seeing that the lights were still on, he reassuringly opened the car door, signaling for May to get out: "Only tonight, I’ll send someone to pick you up tomorrow."
May rolled her eyes speechlessly but eventually compromised: "Alright then."
A night is better than none at all. There was indeed much she wanted to say to Monica, such as about Adam Owens, and about that guy...
Monica’s parents had gone traveling and wouldn’t be back for a few days. May stayed over at her place, giving them peace of mind to chat freely.
Upon hearing about May’s sudden withdrawal from school, Monica was also puzzled. But having been unable to find May for the past few days, the matter just lingered unasked, and now that May suddenly showed up, she naturally needed to get to the bottom of it.
"What’s really going on between you and Adam Owens? I saw you and your brother-in-law on the internet headlines. What, are the two of you really getting married?"
May sighed helplessly, thinking about Adam, and couldn’t help but feel a wave of disappointment: "You have no idea, Adam he actually tried to..."
May recounted how she was set up by her sister and then almost had something terrible happen with Adam at the hotel, but of course, she was too ashamed to mention the part with Vincent.
After hearing May’s story, Monica was silent for a moment before finally saying: "I’ve heard that men never actually get drunk; the so-called drunken misconduct is just an excuse for themselves. As I see it, either Adam is resentful, or he doesn’t love you enough. If he truly loved you, how could he bear to force you?"
Monica, truly May’s confidante, was exactly what she thought when Adam tried to force her — she also suspected that Adam wasn’t truly inebriated, unaware of his actions. But hearing Monica’s remarks now made her believe that with Adam, there was indeed no need for hesitation.
"Oh, how frustrating, I’m getting married to Vincent in three days, but I’m so unprepared to be a bride."
Suddenly thinking about Vincent and the urgent wedding in three days, May found herself in a state of distress, anxiously grabbing her hair, not knowing what to do.
"Ah, you’re really getting married in three days?" Hearing about May becoming a bride, Monica’s eyes suddenly lit up and she grabbed May’s arm, laughing happily: "You promised that you’d make me your bridesmaid at your wedding, don’t forget when the time comes."
May looked at her friend’s face, which was more excited than a bride-to-be, and couldn’t help but feel speechless: "I’m the one getting married, what are you so thrilled about?"
