CHAPTER 393: CHAPTER 393: IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, I WON’T LET YOU OFF

Thinking of this, Jacob Jennings couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat. If this Mr. Landry was really that old woman in disguise, then May Morgan’s fate, could it possibly...

"Jacob Jennings, get people to search everywhere for that Mr. Landry and his apprentice. I want to ask them personally," Vincent Vance instructed Jacob Jennings with a darker expression on his face.

Jacob Jennings gave Vincent Vance a pained look, helplessly saying, "I’ve already sent out a team. I hope to find them soon. As long as they haven’t left the city, I have a way to catch them."

Vincent Vance was almost driven mad by Jacob Jennings; these two were brought in to help, but now, they’ve suddenly become their greatest threat.

"If anything happens to May Morgan, I won’t spare you!" Vincent Vance furiously pointed at Jacob Jennings’ face and said.

Jacob Jennings fell silent for a moment, then said softly, "If something happens to May Morgan, you won’t need to punish me; I’ll cut off my own arms to atone."

Vincent Vance sighed to himself, turned around, and headed upstairs, instructing Jacob Jennings, "Don’t go back tonight. Stay here and watch over things. Once you find that Mr. Landry and his apprentice, bring them to me immediately."

"Understood!"

As Vincent Vance passed the second floor, he happened to see the maid responsible for taking care of May Morgan coming out of the guest room. A thought struck him, and he hurriedly moved towards her.

"Has she gone to sleep?" Vincent Vance asked the maid cautiously.

The maid nodded and replied, "Miss Morgan is in the bathroom taking a bath. I didn’t see anything wrong, so I came out first."

Upon hearing this, Vincent Vance’s mind raced, and he quickly pushed open the door to May Morgan’s bedroom.

May Morgan had had quite the exhausting day—first battling Logan Vance, then awakening the Dragon Insect’s power within her, resulting in a fever of over fifty degrees, almost burning herself out. She then came to help Vincent Vance recover, losing so much blood in the process. Having just lain down in the bathtub, she drifted asleep in a daze.

Vincent Vance gently opened the bathroom door, and through the steamy mist, May Morgan’s graceful figure appeared faintly before him. His face tightened, and he couldn’t help but approach the bathtub.

As he gazed at the peacefully sleeping May Morgan in the water, Vincent Vance gently extended his hand, lightly brushing her flawless collarbone.

He really wanted her, because she was so beautiful, but he feared that forcing her might only push her further away from him.

Composing himself, Vincent Vance finally retracted his fingers, turned to grab a towel from the rack, lifted May Morgan from the water, wrapped her tightly, and carried her out of the bathroom.

His legs had mostly regained their strength, so he didn’t feel any strain holding May Morgan. After laying her on the bed, Vincent Vance, overwhelmed by desire, didn’t plan to leave just yet. Instead, he quietly sat beside the bed, staring blankly at her sleeping face.

Even though it had only been a little over a month since she left him, for him, each day without seeing her felt like an eternity. This torment wouldn’t fade with time; rather, it intensified, making him yearn even more to win her back.

There was no way he would hand May Morgan over to Victor Grant, absolutely no way. However, he didn’t want to make May Morgan uncomfortable. He hoped she would return by his side willingly.

Sleeping uneasily, May Morgan turned over, leaving her back to him. Vincent Vance, looking at her petite and delicate back, suddenly had a thought, turned over, and climbed onto the bed, turning off the nearby lamp.

The room plunged into darkness, faint moonlight streamed in from outside, making the sleeping May Morgan appear like an exquisite jade figure.

Vincent Vance gently reached out his hand, placing it on May Morgan’s slender waist. Not daring to make any big movements for fear of waking her, he merely embraced her gently, not daring to move.

She still smelled so fragrant, her body was so soft, holding her was like cuddling a freshly-bathed, blow-dried, fragrant little kitten—it teased him immensely.

Inhaling her unique body scent, Vincent Vance suddenly felt a tightening below, and the hands holding May Morgan began to act restlessly.

In a hazy sleep, May Morgan suddenly felt ticklish, as if someone was kissing her. Instinctively, she pushed away the man pressing down on her body, shouting loudly, "Victor Grant, don’t touch me!"

Vincent Vance froze, hearing her call out Victor Grant’s name, instinctively stopping his actions.

May Morgan abruptly opened her eyes, seeing Vincent Vance pressing down on her, she paused, then, a little panicked, reached out to push him away.

"Vincent Vance, don’t touch me!" Her first reaction was guilt towards Victor Grant, so she instinctively pushed Vincent Vance away.

Vincent Vance sighed lightly, some hesitation in his heart, turned away, no longer forcing May Morgan: "I’m sorry, I lost control for a moment..."

May Morgan took a difficult breath, hurriedly sitting up straight, then wrapped her wide-open bathrobe tightly, turning her face to one side: "I’m sorry, I promised Victor Grant I wouldn’t do anything to betray him."

May Morgan had her own principles and moral boundaries, and Vincent Vance knew this. Although he understood that May Morgan still loved him, he didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, so he chose to respect her.

"If you feel this way, I won’t touch you, don’t worry," Vincent Vance quickly comforted her in a soft voice when he saw May Morgan’s tense expression.

May Morgan glanced at Vincent Vance with some guilt, but saw a trace of disappointment flash in his eyes, she felt a pang of pain in her heart and quickly apologized to him, "I’m sorry, Vincent Vance, I didn’t mean it, I really..."

"Don’t say anything more. I won’t do anything tonight..." Vincent Vance sighed lightly, suppressing the wave of disappointment, turning to switch on the bedside lamp, planning to leave.

"Rest well, I’ll have Jacob Jennings take you back to Victor Grant in the morning."

May Morgan gazed dazedly as Vincent Vance rose to leave, a thought struck her, and she suddenly grabbed his arm, pleading, "Don’t go, will you stay with me tonight?"

Vincent Vance turned to look at May Morgan. Seeing the tears in her eyes, and her appearance of being on the verge of crying but unable to, his heart ached. He bent down, hugging her head, and gently kissed her.

"Alright, I won’t go. I’ll stay with you tonight."

Vincent Vance faintly smiled, embracing May Morgan, he turned and sat at the edge of the bed, gently cradling her in his arms, carefully protecting her.

"May Morgan, does Victor Grant treat you well?" Earlier, when Vincent kissed May Morgan, the first name she called out was Victor Grant, and seeing her terrified expression, Vincent Vance felt that Victor’s treatment of May was perhaps not particularly kind.

May Morgan couldn’t lie, so she honestly told Vincent Vance, "He’s very good to me. There were several times if not for him, I might have died. This time too, Logan Vance’s insect almost hurt me; it was Victor Grant who blocked it, so I was fine."
