Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 399: Fell Into the Trap
CHAPTER 399: CHAPTER 399: FELL INTO THE TRAP
"Vincent..." The call connected, but May Morgan was momentarily choked up, unsure of what to say.
"It’s me, Maxwell!" From the other side, it wasn’t Vincent’s familiar voice, but the urgent voice of Maxwell Vance.
When she abruptly heard Maxwell’s voice, May was clearly taken aback. How could she be holding Vincent’s phone?
"Where’s your brother?" Instinctively, May felt something had happened. Vincent was a very cautious person, and even if it was his sister on the other end, he certainly wouldn’t let her answer it so casually.
"My brother met with an accident, he was hit by a car because of you!" Maxwell shouted furiously at May, "May, you’re great, aren’t you? You’re going to be a bride again tomorrow, but what about my brother? My foolish brother got drunk and drove just to see you one last time, but ended up in a car crash and is still in the emergency room fighting for his life!"
"Wh-what, what are you saying?" Hearing Maxwell say that Vincent was in a car accident, May’s mind went blank, completely forgetting to think through whether this could be Maxwell’s scheme.
Maxwell heard May’s anxious voice on the other end and couldn’t help but smirk quietly. He then gritted his teeth and said to May, "What am I saying? May, you’re a jinx! If my brother hadn’t married you back then, he wouldn’t have ended up like this. Now look, he’s in the operating room because of you, and you are calmly waiting to marry Victor Grant, aren’t you?"
"No, I haven’t, I’ve never forgotten your brother, never!" May’s eyes reddened as she was humiliated by Maxwell, and she couldn’t help but cry out. "Maxwell, you can’t insult my feelings for your brother like this! I never intended to abandon him, but so many things are out of my control now."
"Stop talking nonsense. If you truly still care about my brother, come to the hospital and see him. The doctors said his injuries are severe and he might never wake up. If you really have any lingering feelings for him, come and be with him. Maybe hearing your voice could bring him back from the brink!"
Upon hearing Maxwell’s words, May immediately stood up from her chair, intending to leave. "Okay, okay, I’m coming over now. Tell me, which hospital is your brother in?"
"You better not let Victor Grant know, or with his rotten temper, if he finds out you’re visiting my brother on the eve of your wedding, he might just turn the hospital upside down!"
To prevent May from involving Victor Grant and making things difficult, Maxwell immediately and deliberately reminded her.
Without Maxwell’s warning, May knew she couldn’t let Victor Grant find out about this, so she quickly nodded and agreed, "I know, I know. Just tell me, which hospital is your brother in?"
"He’s at Southside Hospital. Find a way to come over. Once you reach the hospital entrance, give me a call, and I’ll have someone fetch you." After giving May the "address," Maxwell quickly hung up the phone, fearing she’d overthink and realize something.
May was so focused on Vincent’s injuries that she didn’t have the heart to think about anything else. She didn’t even have time to take off her wedding dress before she ran out of her bedroom.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Miller bringing supper over. Seeing her rushing out, Miller quickly stopped her and asked, "Miss Morgan, where are you going at this hour?"
May paused briefly and hurriedly lied to her, "I just remembered something I need for tomorrow is left at the Grant Residence. I’m going to get it."
Miller hesitated and advised May, "You don’t have to go personally, do you? Tomorrow is your big wedding day, and today you’re not supposed to see the groom."
"Then... why don’t you go with me? I’ll wait at the door while you go in and get it?" Knowing it wasn’t easy to shake off Miller, May had no choice but to bring her along.
Miller glanced at the wall clock reluctantly and asked, "What is so precious that you need to get it now? Can’t someone from the Grant Family bring it over?"
"Oh no, it’s something I can’t describe right now, but it’s really important!" May grabbed the porridge bowl from Miller’s hands, placed it on the nearby table, and pulled her out.
Very soon, the villa’s driver prepared the car and drove them towards the city.
Miller glanced at the eerie night outside, feeling uneasy, and kept nagging May, "Miss Morgan, why are you out at this hour? If something happens, it might delay your wedding tomorrow."
Preoccupied with Vincent’s condition, May had no time to care about much else. "Don’t worry about it, once I get what I need, I’ll come right back, okay?"
May’s original plan was to drop off Miller at the Grant Residence, and once she got rid of her, she’d have the driver take her to Silverwood City. This way, even if Victor Grant found out, it would be too late for him to catch up. At least she could delay things until she saw Vincent at the hospital.
But barely had their car pulled away from the villa and onto the road when a car suddenly rushed out from a dark corner, crashing straight at them.
The driver wasn’t prepared for someone to suddenly crash into them, and in a panic, swerved the steering wheel to dodge. But the assailant’s intention was to kill them, ruthless as ever. Before their car could evade, the vehicle quickly closed in, directly hitting them and sending their car several meters away.
The impact was so great that the airbags in the front deployed, and since May and Miller hadn’t fastened their seatbelts, they suffered significantly.
With her age, Miller immediately passed out when her head hit the glass. May’s arm was cut by the glass, and her head took a heavy blow, leaving her dazed and muddled.
As she was slowly regaining consciousness, the car door was already being opened from outside. A rough hand brutally dragged her out of the car.
"Who are you? Why are you...?" May struggled slightly, but before she could finish, she was punched in the head and fell unconscious once again.
When she woke up again, she found herself tossed into an abandoned factory. Sunlight filtered through the gaps from the roof, reminding her it was already daylight.
Had she been knocked out for the entire night? Did Victor Grant know she was in trouble? He should, right? By now, he should be on his way to pick her up for the wedding!
What about Vincent? How is he now?
"Is the woman awake?" Suddenly, a man’s voice came from outside the warehouse. May listened carefully—it seemed like Logan Vance’s voice.
Logan Vance? Why is he here? Did he arrange for her kidnapping?
But how did he know she would suddenly leave last night? Could it be...
