CHAPTER 431: CHAPTER 431: WHAT IS HIS SCHEME?

Maxwell’s lower abdomen had been aching faintly, and being frightened by them like this made the pain even worse. She even felt something sticky flowing out from below, unsure if it was blood.

But facing such a vicious group, even if she cried out in pain, claiming she was about to miscarry, they would only deal with her more brutally, wouldn’t they?

"Where are you taking me? Don’t do this, I’m carrying a child, I beg you, please don’t!" Maxwell dared not speak tough words and could only keep pleading bitterly with these people.

Carter glanced at Maxwell, sneeringly said, "Don’t worry, soon you’ll be completely free."

Victor Grant said before leaving that this trip not only was meant to take Vincent’s life but also to kill Maxwell here; the siblings were nothing good, especially Maxwell, who should have died long ago. Killing her now was a mercy to her.

Maxwell was terrified by the sinister smile on Carter’s face and nearly fainted from fear: "Please, don’t kill me, I have a child inside me, you can’t be this cruel."

Carter disdainfully glared at Maxwell and deliberately crushed her spirit by saying, "Your husband abandoned you and your child to save his own life, and you still think of having this damn child for him? If you ask me, it’s better not to give birth to it, lest it embarrasses you."

"No, it’s not like that. My husband loves me, Adam loves me; it’s not related to him!"

Maxwell, provoked, couldn’t help but cry while defending Adam, but deep down, she knew better than anyone that this time, she had indeed lost.

She had expended almost all her energy to have a child for Adam, to hold onto their marriage. The pain she endured during pregnancy was unimaginable for an average pregnant woman; over a hundred days and nights, she was constantly calculating the child’s birth, calculating when she could finally be free.

She worked so hard, so tirelessly, just for Adam to see, for the Owens Family to see, but in the end, the Owens Family ruthlessly handed her over to Victor Grant, showing no concern that she was carrying a child.

"Alright, don’t be sad anymore. Isn’t your brother here to take you back?" After dragging Maxwell to the villa entrance, Carter purposefully said to her, "Quickly call your brother to come in and save you, otherwise we’ll kill you!"

After saying this, he suddenly grabbed Maxwell’s hair roughly, forcing her to yell for help to Vincent outside the door.

Maxwell knew the car parked outside was the one her brother usually drove. At this life-or-death moment, she couldn’t worry about much else and quickly shouted toward the car not far away: "Brother, brother, save me, save me!"

Seeing Maxwell being tortured like this, Vincent couldn’t sit idly in the car. He opened the car door and quickly stepped out.

"Let go of my sister!" Vincent pointed at Carter and shouted sternly.

Carter sneered, confronting Vincent, said, "You’ll have to ask our boss’s opinion first."

After saying this, he deliberately signaled his men to drag the nearly fainting Maxwell back inside, leaving obvious bloodstains along the way.

Vincent worriedly glanced at the blood on the ground, fearing Maxwell might miscarry, and hurriedly said to Carter, "Where’s Victor Grant? Tell him to come here!"

"Sorry, our boss is very busy, no time to deal with you." Carter, very shrewd, matched Vincent move for move during their confrontation. He turned and glanced inside the villa, deliberately reminding Vincent of the trail of blood on the floor, "Your sister looks like she’s about to miscarry. If you don’t rush her to the hospital, she might not even survive."

Vincent furrowed his brows, anxiously checked his watch, knowing Director Lawson’s team would take some time to arrive. But with Maxwell’s current condition, if not sent to the hospital soon, she could truly die.

Helplessly, Vincent took out his phone and tried calling Victor Grant. But Victor seemed to have anticipated his call and decisively hung up as soon as Vincent dialed.

He wouldn’t give Vincent a chance to negotiate; not this time. He wouldn’t even show his face, avoiding being dragged down when he perished.

Unable to reach Victor by phone and concerned about Maxwell’s danger inside, Vincent had no choice but to step decisively toward the villa.

Carter, pretending, extended his hand to stop him, "What are you doing?"

Vincent coldly glared at him and suddenly punched him in the face; Carter was caught unprepared and was knocked to the ground, only regaining composure after a long moment.

Seeing Carter beaten, the other bodyguards quickly rushed over, surrounding Vincent.

Vincent lifted his foot and kicked the first person who approached, knocking him to the ground. Seeing Vincent was difficult to handle, the others hurriedly unfolded their folding knives, aiming for a lethal strike.

But once the knife was thrust over, Vincent immediately reversed grip, quickly twisting the knife to stab into the attacker’s abdomen.

"Ah—!"

The stabbed man screamed in pain and fell unconscious to the ground.

Carter hadn’t expected Vincent to fight so well; though he appeared weak, his combat prowess was off the charts. Despite five against one, they stood no chance.

Watching Vincent go in to rescue Maxwell, Carter gritted his teeth and hurriedly motioned for remaining associates to retreat with the semi-conscious men.

As he left, he discreetly opened the incense box given by Victor Grant, placing it in the corner by the vines on the wall.

As soon as the incense was opened, a peculiar smell rapidly dispersed. Shortly thereafter, the once lifeless vines suddenly began writhing.

Not only did the vines start twisting wildly, but they seemed provoked, quickly swelling and thickening, gathering aggressively around, looking truly terrifying.

Carter and his group had never witnessed such a horrifying scene; they were frozen in fear. Carter, being swift, managed to crawl out, but those petrified and ones stabbed by Vincent weren’t so lucky, getting dragged into the air by the bloodthirsty vines, directly turning into dried corpses.

The vines, having consumed human blood, seemed injected with some stimulant-like liquid, emitting a chilling howl heard for miles.

"Ghosts, ghosts!" Carter was so frightened by the scene before him that his legs trembled uncontrollably, prompting him to scream and flee outward.

Hearing commotion outside the villa, Vincent quickly untied Maxwell’s hands while glancing outward.
