CHAPTER 442: CHAPTER 442: HURRY, GO

Victor Grant let out a bitter smile, unsure of what to say to May Morgan. Meanwhile, he quietly took out a sharp dagger from his pocket and said to May, "May, I don’t blame you for saving Vincent Vance. Just hearing that from you makes my heart content!"

May Morgan was moved to tears by Victor’s words and kept apologizing to him, "I’m sorry, Victor Grant. I owe Vincent Vance a life, so I’m repaying him. I owe you a promise, and I will repay that too!"

"May, I don’t want you to die with me. If you die, I will be deeply saddened. I promised I would protect you, and I will keep that promise!"

As soon as Victor finished speaking, he unexpectedly stabbed the dagger into the vine wrapped around his chest. Feeling the pain, the vine let out a roar and quickly threw Victor to the ground.

Simultaneously, Victor swiftly rolled up from the ground, hurling the dagger towards May’s direction, shouting, "May, catch!"

May reached out and grasped the dagger thrown by Victor. With a brief thought, she understood Victor’s intention and quickly grabbed the dagger, piercing her wrist.

As the blood from her wrist dripped onto the ground, the spell that had bound her feet instantly disappeared. May felt the force restraining her legs vanish, and with a shiver, she suddenly collapsed weakly to the ground.

Victor hurriedly rushed over to embrace May, planning to make a quick escape with her. Logan Vance, seeing them trying to flee, was unperturbed and continued tormenting Vincent in mid-air.

"May, you can go. Once you’re gone, I’ll show you how terrifying Vincent’s death will be."

With a cold laugh, Logan commanded the black smoke in the air to advance towards Vincent. May saw Vincent’s body about to be completely engulfed by the horrifying smoke and hastily shouted for Victor to stop.

"No, Victor, put me down!"

May struggled to get out of Victor’s embrace, using all her strength to push him outside the villa.

"You should go. I can’t watch Vincent die by Logan’s hand!"

With a guilty expression, May said to Victor Grant, "If I survive, I will become your wife. If I die, please bury me with Vincent."

"May, I won’t allow you to die. Come back to me!"

Victor panicked and was about to rush back when Logan waved a hand, instantly blocking his path with vines.

"You want my life? I’ll give it to you, spare Vincent!"

Covering her still bleeding wound, May walked toward Logan step by step. Seeing the blood continuously seeping out, Logan was both greedy and somewhat frightened as he retreated two steps.

"May, don’t worry about me, just go!"

The torture’s pain made Vincent regain consciousness. With the last of his strength, he looked up at May and painfully shouted at her.

May looked up at Vincent, seeing him covered in blood, and felt sorrow as she said, "You’re like this, how can I leave? If I must die, I’d rather die with you."

Die? No, it’s not possible. He did all this to ensure May lives well. If she dies, what meaning is there left for him?

He couldn’t let May die. If one of them must sacrifice their life, he would rather it be himself, not her.

While Logan wasn’t paying attention, Vincent pulled out a folding knife and a delicate crystal pendant from his pocket, which was hollow with red liquid flowing inside.

He quickly shattered the pendant, pouring the red liquid onto the blade.

The liquid inside that bottle was indeed May Morgan’s blood. Earlier, when May was treating his leg, to ensure the poison in him was completely eliminated, she drew a small bottle of blood for him as a reserve. Vincent had been reluctant to use it, as it was her blood. After his leg healed, he had a pendant made to preserve her blood, unexpectedly finding it useful now.

With the knife tainted by May’s blood, Vincent quickly held it and stabbed into the vine binding him. Upon contact with the dagger infused with May’s blood, the vine quickly withered, retracting into the corner and turning into dried branches.

Hearing commotion behind, Logan hastily glanced back, providing Vincent the opportunity to fiercely stab Logan’s back with the knife.

Noticing Vincent suddenly freeing himself, Logan was momentarily flustered, hurriedly dodging his attacks.

Vincent managed to slash Logan three times, with the final strike cutting his arm and leaving a large burn wound.

"May, quickly run!" Seeing Logan injured, Vincent dared not delay and hurriedly dragged May to the entrance.

Covering his burned wound, Logan gritted his teeth and said, "You won’t escape, you’ll all have to die!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the black smoke in the air rapidly approached Vincent and May. Just as the smoke was about to engulf them, a loud bang sounded from outside the door.

Suddenly, chaos erupted. The vines were blasted at the roots by explosives, quickly flailing helplessly and losing their strength, hanging limp like dead snakes.

The explosives were arranged by Victor Grant in collaboration with Director Lawson. Since the amount used wasn’t substantial, it wouldn’t harm those inside the villa, which was owned by Victor himself, and the poison was his doing, knowing the exact location of the vine’s roots.

To save May inside, Victor was completely devoted, directly bringing an explosives expert to locate the vines’ lair and plant the explosives there.

Although this explosion was unable to entirely sap the vines’ combat capability, it was sufficient to deliver a harsh lesson to Logan, and those previously commanded by him instantly lost direction, becoming weak and dispirited.

"May, are you alright?"

With the explosion, Victor anxiously worried it might hurt May inside, promptly asking her through a walkie-talkie.

Hearing Victor’s words, May quickly responded to him through the walkie-talkie on her chest, "I’m fine, thank you for helping."

At this point, Victor didn’t want to debate who loved whom more or less with May. His mother was right; people must first live to have hope. Once dead, love and hate lose all significance.

"Where are you? I’ll come in and rescue you now."

Seeing the vines had lost basic combat strength, Victor quickly seized the opportunity and offered.
