Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 55: From Now On, I Will Protect You
CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55: FROM NOW ON, I WILL PROTECT YOU
"Then what should we do? How about we go find him and reconcile?"
In fact, May knew that what Arthur wanted wasn’t her, but the blood of the child in her womb. Reconcile? Absolutely a joke, unless she compromised and continued to be used for experiments. Otherwise, reconciliation was impossible.
Vincent’s hand on May’s shoulder tightened unconsciously at her words, "May, I will not hand you over to anyone."
May lowered her head, feeling heavy-hearted, and slowly said, "Actually, Grandpa just wants the blood of my child to save your second uncle, otherwise, how about we have a child? That way..."
"Stop talking, I will have a child with you, but I will never let anyone harm you or our child."
Vincent seemed unwilling to continue with this topic, so he stopped her with a slightly stern tone.
Hearing Vincent’s words, the stone in May’s heart finally lifted completely. She pulled Vincent’s arm, resting her head lightly on it, her voice a murmur, "Vincent, thank you."
As she spoke, her nose tingled, and she suddenly burst into tears, "You don’t know, when Grandpa tied me to the operating table, I was so frightened. When I saw my dad willing to sacrifice me to save my sister, I felt as though no one in the world would ever care for me again. Even my only family gave up on me. Who could I rely on? But eventually, I waited for you—the man who’s willing to protect and care for me. Vincent, really, thank you."
Tears soaked into Vincent’s clothes, and the hot tears imprinted on his skin, disturbing his peace of mind.
He looked down at the pitiful woman crying in his embrace, and at that moment, he seemed to see a reflection of himself.
"Don’t be sad anymore. From now on, I’ll protect you. I’m your only family."
Vincent sighed deeply, reached out to wipe away the tears from May’s cheeks, then held her little head and kissed her on the forehead.
"May, remember this: no matter the storms, I, Vincent, will always be by your side. As long as you don’t betray me, I will always be your closest love."
"Thank you, thank you!"
May wiped away her tears, touched, and threw herself into Vincent’s arms. Smelling the elegant scent of his cologne, she closed her eyes in peace and nestled in his arms for a nap.
As the car approached Zenith Villa, May suddenly thought of Monica Lambert’s parents. She remembered that they were injured because of her and were now fighting for their lives. She suddenly grabbed Vincent’s arm and asked, "How are Monica’s parents doing?"
Vincent reached out to touch her head, comforting her, "It’s okay. They’ve been sent to the hospital. Monica’s father is lightly wounded, nothing serious. Her mother got shot in the chest but it didn’t hit any vital organs. She’s out of danger now."
"Then let’s go visit them now, shall we?" After all, they were hurt because of her. May thought she should see them before she could feel relieved.
Looking at the dark night outside, Vincent chose to discuss rather than be forceful, "It’s late. Can we visit them tomorrow?"
"I want to see them now, or I won’t be able to rest easy tonight."
May lowered her head, feeling sincerely apologetic, and said to Vincent, "My mom died early, and since I came to this city, apart from Adam, it was Monica’s family that treated me best. If it weren’t for me, how would they have suffered such a disaster? Now that I’m okay, if I don’t visit them, how can I find peace of mind?"
Vincent was not a domineering person. Hearing May like this, he sighed softly and instructed Jacob, who was driving, "Drive to the First Hospital."
The car soon arrived at the First Hospital. Monica’s father’s leg bullet had been removed, however, he couldn’t move much and had to rest in bed. Her mother, though not hurt in any vital organ and now awake, was very weak and wouldn’t be discharged for another two or three months.
Monica had no intention of blaming May. Though appearing greedy and lustful usually, she was deep down a person who understood reason well. She knew that May was also a victim of this incident and that her family was innocently drawn in.
So when May took her hand, crying and apologizing profusely, Monica comforted her instead, "Don’t say that. Isn’t everyone fine now? By the way, do you know who kidnapped you?"
It was Melanie Morgan—the person responsible. May definitely would not let that go easily, not to mention her heartless father who chose to abandon her. Since he made that choice, she had no more concerns about him.
However, May did not intend to drag Monica’s family into this again.
"Vincent has already got people investigating. The results will come soon, so don’t worry about that. Take good care of Uncle and Auntie. I’ll make arrangements and come back tomorrow to help you take care of them."
Hearing May say she’d come tomorrow, Vincent hurriedly suggested, "I’ll have a few maids come over to help tomorrow. You don’t need to worry about the hospital matters, I’ll handle them."
Monica glanced at Vincent without any intention of blaming him, and instead kindly persuaded May along with him, "Yes, you’re still in danger. Don’t run around. What if something happens on the way? The hospital has caregivers. They’re professional and attentive in taking care of my parents. I can’t even be of much help beside them."
Vincent gave Monica a grateful look and handed her a card, "Take this card; if anything happens, just let me know."
Monica looked down, realizing it was the same limitless card she had returned before, and quickly refused, "No, no need, you’ve already helped our family a lot."
The expenses for the surgeries and the caregivers were fully covered by Vincent, so there was no need for too much money right now. Monica didn’t want to continue taking advantage of others.
But Vincent firmly placed the card into Monica’s hand, earnestly telling her, "Your parents were injured because of our May. This amount is nothing. If there were a better way to compensate, I’d be willing to try. If you ever have troubles, come find me. I’ll help as much as I can."
Monica looked gratefully at Vincent, accepting the card only after seeing his sincere attitude, "Then, once my parents recover, I’ll return the card to you."
Knowing Monica is a straightforward person, Vincent didn’t say more and nodded calmly. May chatted with Monica for a while, offering some advice before she reluctantly left the hospital with Vincent.
