Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife
Chapter 70: Mason Morgan’s Odd Behavior
CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 70: MASON MORGAN’S ODD BEHAVIOR
A single sentence reminded Vincent, indeed, he is currently idle at home, even lost his position as CEO of the Vance Group, how could he possibly fight against his grandfather?
Moreover, there’s Logan in the middle, trying to deal with two people at once is even more difficult.
"What should I do then?" Watching May’s face burning like a fire, Vincent felt both pain and annoyance, tossing the towel in his hand, speaking helplessly.
"Things have to be approached step by step, taken gradually, there will always be a solution." Jacob couldn’t say exactly how to proceed with the current situation, and could only advise Vincent to seek steady victory.
May was feverish for two days and nights; her body temperature finally returned to normal. But though her body recovered, her mind remained trapped in pain, unable to escape.
Vincent knew her state wasn’t viable; she neither ate nor drank, couldn’t sleep peacefully, constantly muttering in dreams, sometimes startling awake at night. At this rate, he’s afraid she might drive herself insane.
"May, listen to me, I will help you avenge your grandmother, but you must first take care of your body. Only then can you watch those enemies die before your eyes."
Vincent crouched in front of May, holding her hand, almost engraving his words into her heart, saying: "I’ve lost the closest person too, the kind of pain of watching your loved ones die before your eyes; I deeply feel it more than you. There’s no perfect life in this world; you must understand that only by being alive and living well can you have the chance to see those villains kneel before you asking for forgiveness."
His words were profound and moving. May looked into his eyes filled with concern for her, and suddenly, her mind cleared, she understood.
Yes, she must live well, find out who harmed her grandmother, and see those villains kneel before her asking for forgiveness.
Of course, she would not forgive them, even if they knelt down.
"I’ll eat, I’ll eat!"
May wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes, turned to take the food from Vincent’s hands, and began eating with big mouthfuls.
Vincent worried she’d harm herself, as she hadn’t eaten for two days, eating so quickly and urgently; her stomach surely couldn’t handle it. So, he took the bowl from her hands and spoon-fed her slowly.
After eating almost half a bowl, May suddenly thought of her grandmother’s funeral, raising her head to ask Vincent, "What will happen to my grandmother’s affairs?"
"I’ve informed your father about your grandmother’s passing; he will go over to handle it." Vincent set the bowl down, turned, and gently held May’s hand, saying softly, "I know you’re worried about your grandmother. How about this? I’ll have Jacob arrange for us to go back when your grandmother is laid to rest."
May really wanted to go back, not only for her grandmother’s affairs but also for many things that needed addressing in Crestwood, like viewing the police evidence. She must find out who the killers of her grandmother are.
"Thank you." May looked up at Vincent, genuinely saying.
Vincent especially disliked hearing her say thank you to him because he felt this thank you created distance between them.
"I don’t like always hearing you say thank you to me. Don’t say it anymore in the future." He deliberately put on a serious face and said to her.
May sighed slightly, her body leaning forward, resting her weak body against Vincent’s strong chest.
"You’re deserving of this thank you."
If it weren’t for his help, his care, maybe she would be dead by now?
But for him, besides saying thank you, she seemingly didn’t have anything else she could give back.
To this stubborn girl, Vincent really didn’t know what to say. In the end, he gently embraced her in his arms, lowered his head, and kissed her still slightly pale face.
"May, remember, from now on, I’m yours, you’re mine. It’s my duty to be good to you, and you should accept my kindness with peace of mind, understand?"
His words were so beautiful, so warm that a wave of warmth surged in May’s heart, and tears suddenly spilled from the corners of her eyes.
This time, she cried more fiercely than ever, voice hoarse and in anguish: "Vincent, do you know? In fact, I hate myself the most. I hate myself for being so stupid. I clearly thought that the Jade Pendant would bring disaster to grandmother, but I still kept the pendant; I deserve to die!"
Vincent felt pain hearing her, his face also showing a hint of emotion: "It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have given the pendant back to grandmother just to make her happy. If you want to blame, blame me?"
There’s no way May would blame Vincent; he only followed grandmother’s wishes in returning the pendant. In fact, she saw it at the time, but she didn’t stop it.
"I won’t blame you, blame myself; I’m a disaster star. No wonder dad doesn’t like me; all I bring is disaster, killing mom, killing grandmother. What should I do? Will I bring harm to you too? Vincent, I’m so scared now..."
Thinking of her deceased mom and grandmother’s tragic demise, May’s body suddenly shook violently. Long ago, someone had said she was different from others; back then, many villagers didn’t like her, hiding upon seeing her. Also due to this, grandmother and mom had moved with her to the house at the foot of the mountain. Over the years, even dad barely looked her way, seeing her was like seeing an enemy, with unfamiliarity mixed with resentment.
How could she not know or see it? So young, yet she had borne the disdainful looks of those people and eyes tinged with fear. If not for mom and grandmother never leaving her side, maybe she would have died from the villagers’ gossip or even rampant bullying all these years?
"No, no, May, it won’t happen."
Seeing May tremble from fear for him, Vincent quickly hugged her tight, softly comforting her: "It won’t happen, my fate is strong. Nothing will happen, don’t worry."
Though he didn’t believe in fate being strong, he knew that whether one’s fate is strong depends entirely on whether their heart is ruthless enough, and he believed he could be.
Thus, only with a ruthless heart, can fate be strong, and only with a strong fate, can one have the ability to protect the beloved woman.
May recuperated at the villa for another two days, her body finally fully recovered. Worried about her grandmother’s affairs, she reluctantly called Mason.
Mason had been in Crestwood for several days, negotiating with the police about burying his mother’s remains. He advocated for cremating and burying the elder’s remains first, but Vincent had previously instructed that this matter must be thoroughly investigated before concluding the case. Otherwise, the elder’s remains couldn’t be touched.
Therefore, until now, Mason hadn’t been able to take his mother’s remains from the police.
