Dinner time...

With one last dish on the table, Leyan could feel an awkward atmosphere as everyone sat in silence.

"Where's Yuqi and Anna?" Leyan curiously asked, sitting down and getting ready to eat.

"Yuqi has already finished eating. She said she has a lot of work to do this week." Nami responded as she picked up a small piece of pork.

"Anna is staying at Foshan with her engineers to check out some of the new wafer steppers," Kate responded next.

"Didn't even give me a heads-up so I can cook less rice," Leyan murmured as she picked up her chopsticks.

As the dinner continued, Leyan herself couldn't endure the silence any longer and decided to start a conversation.

"Nami, how was your work today?"

"Pretty okay. Not a lot of customers today."

"Wuli, Shuli, how about your guys' work?"

"Just the usual..."

Seeing both of them too busy playing with their baby resting on their laps, Leyan turned her attention to Tianci, whose chopsticks hadn't moved at all.

"Tianci, is the food not up to your taste today?"

"N-No. Sorry. I was just thinking about something from work."

With Tianci's mouth rapidly filling up with food, Leyan turned her attention to the person sitting to her right.

"Lily, how was school today?"

"It's great... Only three more weeks until school is over." Lily murmured as she started shoving food into her mouth as well.

"Leyan, how were the babies today? Did any of them misbehave?" Yueyue questioned as she put her bowl down.

"All of them behaved very well today. Except for Bingbing and Wenwen, who cried a little this morning."

"Really?" Wuli and Shuli asked in surprise as they looked down at their baby, who looked so happy.

"They just accidentally peed the bed. It's no big problem."

"That's no good. Yongyi and the other three didn't pee the bed. This can't be good at all." Wuli murmured as she began to look a little worried.

"Wuli, calm down. That's what's supposed to happen. Don't get it twisted." Shuli responded as she looked much calmer.

"Shuli isn't wrong. Even Yongyi did it a few times when he was one year old. You should have seen Nami when she was a baby——"

"Mom!"

Nami interrupted Leyan before she could speak any further, her face flushed red as Xuanhua looked up to her in confusion.

"How were Yuqi and the other two like when they were a baby?" Kate asked out of curiosity.

"Oh, you wouldn't believe it. They were like the worst. Honey, you remember it, right?" Leyan asked as she looked over to Xiaoyun.

"Mhm."

Hearing the muted response, Leyan didn't think too much as she shifted her attention back to the conversation at hand.

A few hours later...

As everyone sat in the living room in their pajama, the TV show was soon coming to an end as the first season credits began to play.

"Man, all because two babies were mixed together at birth led to them coming together, what a crazy world," Nami commented.

"Yeah..." Tianci murmured, her attention not really focused on the TV show itself.

"Am I the only one who finds that Alexey annoying as hell? All he does is sit at home and drink all day with that useless dad of his." Yueyue commented.

"He's a comedic relief. When did you become so picky about dumb characters?" Shuli questioned.

"Sure is painful for Lidia to sit through all that. I would have divorced his ass a long time ago." Wuli argued.

"Hey, they clearly had been through a lot together. Those are just small things in their life's journey." Leyan chimed in.

"And so did Anton. But his marriage is much more fragile than Alexey's... Lily, remember money changes men, okay?" Kate lectured.

"Okay..."

As Lily nodded in acknowledgment, Wuli quickly shoved Kate aside before giving her own advice.

"Don't listen to her. Nobody wants to deal with a husband who just drinks all day. Better cry in a luxury house than cry in the streets."

"Hey, that's enough. You guys are making it sound like she's going somewhere else, right, honey?"

"Mhm..."

Seeing Xiaoyun's muted response, the living room instantly fell into an awkward silence as everyone realized the grumpy mood on his face.

"Honey, did I do something wrong?" Leyan nervously asked, her face looking a little worried as she moved a little closer.

"You didn't do anything wrong... I'm tired today. Goodnight, everyone."

Watching Xiaoyun heading upstairs all alone, his wives all looked to each other before turning their attention to Leyan.

"What? Why are you all looking at me? I don't know why he's so grumpy today... Kate, aren't you with him the whole day?"

As everyone's attention shifted toward Kate, a nervous sweat fell from her forehead as she wiped it with her hand.

"Um, oh snap, it's almost ten already. I've got to go to sleep to prepare for tomorrow morning——"

"You aren't going anywhere until you tell us what happened today."

Leyan forcefully dragged Kate back down onto the sofa as everyone was a little intrigued by what she was hiding.

"Nothing much happened today. He just went to Yuqi's office to work, then headed to Liuqian's place to talk about plans and money."

Seeing Kate respond with a composed face, Xiaoyun's wives could only take her word as the truth as they turned back to Leyan.

"Why are you all looking at me?"

After a silent stare, she finally backed down in the end.

"Okay fine... I'll go ask Yuqi later."

"Hello? Yuqi, are you asleep?"

"Not yet. Come on in."

As Leyan opened the door, Yuqi was sitting in her seat in front of a laptop, typing something into a draft doc.

"Yuqi, I just want to ask a little question."

"What is it?" Yuqi asked, her eyes still on the computer as her hand kept moving all over the keyboard.

"What happened at the office today? Did anything weird happen?"

Seeing her freeze for a second, Leyan immediately realized something had happened inside her office.

"Don't lie to your mom. Just be honest, and I won't get mad."

"I just gave him a... kiss. That's all." Yuqi shyly whispered as her voice got quieter and quieter until it became inaudible.

"You what?" Leyan asked again, unable to hear her words exactly.

"I kissed him. It's not that big of a deal, is it?" Yuqi questioned as she finally turned around ot look towards Leyan.

"That's it?"

"Yeah, what else do you want to know? Do you want to help me plan out a new department or what?" Yuqi asked as her voice got louder.

"Okay, okay. Sorry for interrupting your work."

"Close the door on your way out!"

As Leyan quickly ran out of the bedroom and closed the door, her mind was still a little confused.

It was clear Yuqi wasn't the reason Xiaoyun was giving everyone the cold response. It had to be something else.

Something that seems to be targeted towards her. Something that didn't involve Lily or Tianci as her mind thought back to earlier.

Xiaoyun was interacting perfectly fine with them during the TV show. But when it came to Kate, Yueyue, and herself, his attitude instantly changed.

"What did I do wrong... What could it be?" Leyan wondered as she walked down the hallway before stopping by Xiaoyun's room.

For a second, an idea popped up in her mind. One that would perfectly explain why he gave the cold treatment.

"Honey, can you open the door for a second? I just want to talk."

"I'm too tired today. Sorry."

Xiaoyun's response only confirms her theory. But with him refusing to open the door, she was stuck in the hallway.

"Honey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hide secrets away from you... Please, I just want to talk——"

"Can I just rest in peace? What secret do you want to talk about?"

As the door swung wide open, Leyan was a little surprised by his genuinely confused look on his face.

"T-The secret. The one last week?"

"You already told me about it. You kept it a secret for my sake... Or do you have something else hidden from me?"

After a few seconds of silence, Leyan finally realized she might have misunderstood something.

"Of course not. I'm just curious why you're so grumpy earlier. You were almost scaring me earlier." Leyan asked softly.

"I told you I'm just tired. You know how problematic it has been to deal with the unemployment issue."

Seeing him seemingly return to normal, Leyan started to believe his explanation.

"Sorry... I won't interrupt your rest anymore. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

As Xiaoyun closed the door, Leyan's worries disappeared as she walked back to her own bedroom.

Lying down in bed, she felt something was off. Something didn't make any sense in Xiaoyun's explanation earlier.

"Wait a moment——"

Before Leyan could fully realize the problem, someone suddenly knocked on the door.

"Leyan, open the door. It's me, Kate."
